Review: More Than Luck (Legendary Pairs #2) by Casey Cameron

Drey knows a relationship between them is out of the question--Lucas is too young, too reckless, too broken--but the more time he spends in Lucas's company, the more he wants what he shouldn't have in this steamy May/December romance.

Who knew a story about card games could be so interesting? Not me. Although I really enjoyed Book #1 in this series (which is a novella, but still great fun), I didn’t think I’d get into a full length novel about it, but I did.

I am totally sold on this world. I feel like I missed out on an entirely different universe that I wasn’t cool enough to be involved in. This book showed me how awesome these types of card games could be, if I had have been smart enough to be strategic.

Lucas and Drey start out quite hostile to each other, and it is because Lucas has damage, and appears to be a pretty superficial brat. Drey has no time for the hot mess that is Lucas. He has cards to design, and a daughter to raise, and an ex to brood about.

Lucas knows he’s a hot mess, but can’t seem to get out of his funk. He feels abandoned by his family, and is no longer enjoying being in the limelight. His relationship with his father is pretty intense, and this added to his overall angst.

I liked the plot, and the character development. Surly guys are my kryptonite so Drey as a character hit all my buttons. Lucas’ behaviour towards Drey was the icing on the cake. A bratty younger man who lives to annoy Drey, was perfect. Add to the dysfunction by making Drey babysit the party boy and this is a minefield of fun, witty, and frustrating.

I am a huge fan of how Drey’s bisexuality was worked in this story. It was a near perfect thing. His daughter was a great side character. I love it when authors throw in teens that have pearls of wisdom up their sleeve at the most inopportune times. I also loved that she brought out another layer of Lucas that wouldn’t have been known unless she was around. Great use of family to entice, in this story.

There isn’t a whole lot of drama in this story. Not in the way that annoys me, so this was a fun, easy read, with some nicely developed characters, and a fun world for them to play in.

I am really looking forward to where this series might lead me. I think the world is great, and will appeal to a lot of people.

Perfect Game is a 25,000 word stand-alone romance novella with lots of heat, deliciously nerdy sweetness, and a happily-ever-after ending with no cliffhangers.

Robin and Neil are adorable in this story about two people who meet at The Ogre’s Den playing a collectable card game.

Robin is ridiculously competitive and cocky about his game. I was charmed by his confidence and enthusiasm for playing cards, and pursuing Neil. He went after what he wanted, and had no trouble navigating Neil’s insecurities.

Poor Neil is awestruck by Robin, but doesn’t seem to pick up on the flirting right away. He doesn’t believe someone like Robin could be interested in him. But with Robin’s persistence and overt tactic, they manage to make their way on a road trip to a tournament, enjoying each other along the way.

I had a lot of fun reading this. The scenes with the card games were just as fun as the flirty romance going on between Robin and Neil. Of course there was drama with the super competitive Robin, but they still managed to convince me that they should be together.

This is a short story, so just a snippet from this author, but it was really well written, and I was completely absorbed in it. I am definitely going to nab a copy of the second book in this series.

Recommended for all MM Romance readers who enjoy geeking out on card games.

Review: Omega Studies by Casey Cameron

This is a 57,000 word stand-alone steamy gay romance with lots of heat, non-shifter alpha/omega dynamics, and a happily ever after ending with no cliffhangers.

This is the second book I’ve read from Casey Cameron and I still really love the world she’s built. So we have human Alphas, Betas and Omegas and all in a modern setting. In this particular story we have Matt who is an Omega and is a passionate advocate for Omega rights. He’s in his first year of college at a newly integrated A/B/O college and is annoyed as hell to realise every Omega has been assigned an Alpha to virtually babysit them. Derrek is Matt’s assigned Alpha and while he’s never identified as bisexual he’s immediately drawn to Matt’s intoxicating scent.

I found Matt quite a hard character to like at first. He’s obviously passionate about his cause but it's caused him to be very cynical of anything good to do with his biology or alphas in general. Matt takes a really long time to warm up to Derrek, probably because he’s constantly blaming Derrek for things he didn’t do and all based on his generalisation of Alphas being meatheads.

Despite that, I did really like these two together. Once they're together Matt’s tune changes and he really does like and respect Derrek. They work well as a couple and despite some dramatic reactions from Matt they actually do talk about their issues and keep moving forward together.

Now for those of you who are dying to know, never fear KNOTTING is here!!! Alot. Like a lot of knotting is done and its pretty damn yummy!!

There wasn’t alot I didn’t like about this story actually, Matt was probably the most annoying aspect, but everything flowed nicely and I really enjoyed Matt and Derrek once they were together. I think I’ll be coming back to Cameron when I want a A/O story with a twist.

Review: Love Keeps Giving by Casey Cameron

"How much longer is rock bottom supposed to last?"

Broke and overstressed, Orlando is doing everything he can to get his life and mental health back on track--and score a date with shy-but-sexy Geoff before the new year. All that can't come without a catch.

Even as their lives intertwine, Orlando is convinced Geoff is way out of his league, and Geoff has his own reservations. Falling too hard, too fast is a recipe for disaster, but neither man can help getting a little carried away. If they want to truly turn their ragtag group into a family, both of them will have to face their insecurities in this sweet and steamy holiday romance.

Wow, this book was a very pleasant surprise! I'm not always a fan of books with kids in them (mainly because they never seem to actually represent life with kids!) but I really enjoyed this. 

Orlando had just started to get his life on track and set up a date with Geoff when his world is turned upside down and he is left with the baby daughter he had no idea existed. And it wasn't easy for him. I liked this! Geoff was still keen to see Orlando and accepted Noelle was part of his life but Orlando was a man with no parental experience and really was winging it. It was hard for him but he was determined to do the best for his daughter.

I think Casey Cameron got a great balance between things going realistically wrong and being difficult with still being able to move on and improve his life. Having a boyfriend didn't make things instantly easy, but it did help - sometimes. It also made things harder at times. Imagine those first days of a relationship when things are precarious and you're trying to get to know your partner. Imagine doing that when you were also learning how to a father, a shock for the most prepared, but for Orlando there was no warning it really was instant family. And he stepped up to the mark.

This story portrayed a romance developing under less than ideal circumstances, it also portrayed three wonderful characters working together to make a family. Was it plain sailing? No, of course not! Was there lots of extra added angst, unnecessary to the plot? Thank goodness no (I hate that kind of plot device). Was it a well told romance and sweet family story ? Yes! Do I recommend this book? Yes, most definitely! Treat yourself this Christmas. :)

Review: His Alpha's Alpha by Casey Cameron

Ethan has been flirting with Nick, the hot alpha photographer who visits his coffee shop, for a few weeks when they make an accidental connection that throws Ethan into an early heat. With an alpha at his side, dealing with his heat should be a simple matter, but there's just one problem: arrogant alpha Corey Masters, real estate heir, reality TV star, tabloid regular...and Nick's boyfriend.

Nick wants Ethan, and Ethan wants Nick. Corey wants nothing to do with omegas, but there's no way in hell he's going to leave his lover alone with a stranger. Could there be a future for the three of them, or will two alphas be too many for Ethan to handle?

This is a non-shifter M/M/M menage romance with the heat level turned up to 11, featuring knotting, male pregnancy, and an HEA ending with no cliffhangers.

These three had a very interesting dynamic. Nick and Corey are both Alpha's and have been in an open relationship for thirteen years. Nick has been flirting with Ethan (an omega) for a few months and when they finally get their act together, it's pretty much insta-love.


So where does Corey fit into this new love? Well he is the more complicated character and took time to warm up too. He’s rude and arrogant and generally doesn’t like omegas, so while he’s more than a bit prickly towards Ethan to begin with, he does want Nick to be happy. The story mainly revolves around Corey’s integration into the threesome. He starts as a bit of an outsider, watching and being watched… which is pretty damn hot!

It was one of the most erotic and intimate experiences of Ethan’s life; he wavered between feeling like an outsider, like he shouldn’t be there at all, and feeling like he and Nick were connected so deeply that Corey was fucking them both. Nick moved his hand to rest on the mattress between them, and Ethan covered it with his own. Nick smiled, and then his eyes rolled back in his head as Corey changed the angle again.

In fact all the sex was really hot, which I have come to expect from shifter novels, but it's always a relief when it's delivered.


The world this is set in is very clever and unique. I hear it's what Cameron usually writes and I really liked it. This is set in the modern day with modern jobs, modern expressions and modern ethics, but is populated with shifters: Alphas, Betas and Omegas. It was interesting to read about things such as ‘Omega Rights’ and how they are trying to eliminate stereotypes of being hormone crazed people. They were all very ‘modern’ human rights concepts, which aren't that common in shifter world's as, ‘that's just what omega's are’. I thought the merging of the two concepts was done exceptionally well.


I’ll definitely be reading more by this author! It was a fun easy read, if you like the A/O dynamic give this a go, just be prepared for Corey’s attitude ;-).
