Anniversary Shenanigans: Author Visit + Giveaway - Lisa Henry

Lisa Henry dropped by today and brought some smexy baseball players with her. YUM!

Homerun

“I dunno, man,” Matt Parkes says to one of the guys as he’s packing up his gear. “I don’t even like baseball that much.”

What?

Fucking what?

Will Carlyle hasn’t been busting his ass all fucking semester at practice to get their team into the collegiate league finals only to have some fucker who doesn’t even like baseball screw it up for him.

This is his chance to get noticed. There will be scouts. This is Will’s future, and he’s been working at it ever since his dad got him a glove for his third birthday. He’s not going to let Matt Parkes fuck this up for him!

Will slams his gear into his bag. When he’s done, Matt is still leisurely packing his stuff up like he hasn’t got a care in the damn world. The other guys have cleared out when Will slings his bag over his shoulder, strides over to where Matt is inspecting a hole in a sock, and slams his bag down in front of him.

“You don’t even fucking like baseball?” he demands.

Matt doesn’t even have the decency to look ashamed. He picks up his black snapback and puts it on. “No,” he says with a small shrug. “Not really.”

And he smiles.

Fucking smiles.

Will wants to put a fist in his face right now.

“Then why are you even on the fucking team?” he demands instead, and hates the way his voice hitches.

Matt shrugs again, and rises to his feet. He’s taller than Will, but Will figures he’s angry enough to take him in a fight. And that has to be where this is headed, right? Because as soon as he’s standing, Matt steps right up into Will’s space.

“I like some things about it,” Matt says. “I like hanging out with the guys on the team. I like the uniform. I like…” He takes another step forward. “I like you.”

He what? But before Will has a chance to parse through Matt’s bullshit attitude, his brain shorts out because they’re kissing. Kissing! Will is completely blindsided, because he thought they were about to have a fight but this? This is much nicer. Much, much, nicer.

“So,” he says, panting a little for breath as they finally part. “I’ve wanted to be a professional baseball player since I was three. Please don’t fuck this up for me.”

“That’s cool,” Matt says. “I’ve always wanted to date a professional baseball player.”

“Cool,” Will echoes. “Wait? Did you only join the team to stalk me?”

“Will,” Matt says. “We have three classes together.”

“No we don’t.”

“We do,” Matt says. “I sit right in front of you in American Lit, but the only thing you ever think about is baseball. I figured this was the only way to get you to actually notice me. Also, your ass looks really good in your uniform.”

That’s true, actually. Will’s ass does look good in his uniform.

“Okay,” he says. “Your ass also looks good in your uniform, by the way.”

Also true.

It’s going to be awesome to be able to stare at it without feeling like a creeper.

All in all, the season is looking up.

Who's ready for the baseball season to start up again after reading this fic? Lisa Henry can bring a smile to even Ron Swanson's face. Ok, maybe more of a smirk but still!

We unicorns thank Lisa for be a staple of the shenanigans year after year. Wouldn't be the same without her.

About the Author:

Lisa likes to tell stories, mostly with hot guys and happily ever afters.

Lisa lives in tropical North Queensland, Australia. She doesn't know why, because she hates the heat, but she suspects she's too lazy to move. She spends half her time slaving away as a government minion, and the other half plotting her escape.

She attended university at sixteen, not because she was a child prodigy or anything, but because of a mix-up between international school systems early in life. She studied History and English, neither of them very thoroughly.

She shares her house with too many cats, a green tree frog that swims in the toilet, and as many possums as can break in every night. This is not how she imagined life as a grown-up.
