Anniversary Shenanigans: Author Visit and Giveaway - Bey Deckard

Hey! It's SheReadsALot with a guest that I'm super excited to introduce. He's hands down one of my favorite new authors I discovered this year. He gave me you me BDSM pirates, not once but twice for 2014 - Caged and Sacrificed, books #1 & 2 of the Baal's Hearts Trilogy.

Me and a few other unicorns asked Mr. Deckard the hard hitting questions you know you want to ask but maybe are too afraid to. Don't worry, we unicorns take this interview business serious-like. (Unicorns rarely take anything serious BTW)

Come learn about his pirates inspiration, his choices of seductive music and kinks *coughs* they're pretty hot.

BMBR: What prompted you to become an author?

Bey: The answer is easy: I wrote Caged with the intention of publishing, but only if people really liked it… and the folks who read it did. So I published it for shits and giggles. End of story, really.
Not that I don’t hold my own story in high regard, I do… it’s actually a really personal piece, almost autobiographical, but I didn’t actually put a hell of a lot of thought into the whole what-comes-next bit. But here I am. I’m an author.

And I really fucking like it.

BMBR: Which one of the three pirate boys (Jon, Tom or Baltsaros) are you most like and which one would you most like to get with? And please don't limit yourself to just one to get with Mr. Bey.

Bey: Most like? I’m not sure. They’re all me. But, I can tell you who is the least like me, and that’s Jon. Answering the second part of the question is now purely narcissistic, isn’t it? Truth be told, I think it would have to be Tom. Maybe Tom and Baltsaros.

Hm… that makes me Jon, doesn’t it…

BMBR: We know you're a big music fan. How about a couple of mixes? What would be on your playlist for:

Bey: a. Sex mixSex mix... sex mix… Wait! I have a sex mix right here on my iPhone:
Stripped (Highland Mix) by Depeche Mode
Striptease by Hawksley Workman
Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge
Closer by NIN
Master and Servant by Depeche Mode
Today’s Lesson by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Bad Things by Jace Everett
Silver by Moist
The Bondage Song by London After Midnight

b. Seduce mix Err… I guess I normally throw on Louis Prima, David Brubeck, or Nina Simone. Or something interesting I’ve picked up while travelling. Or something nostalgic like Disintegration by The Cure.

However, the best seduction mix is the one the seducee picks themselves.

c. Workout mix My current list is:
I Will Survive by Cake
Bible on the Dash by Corb Lund
Greenback Boogie by Ima Robot
Glory and Gore by Lorde
I Wanna Be Your Dog by The Stooges
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Starfucker
Quien Es el Patron? By Systema Solar
Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way by Waylon Jennings
Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel
Bank Robber by The Clash
Rock & Roll Queen by The Subways

d. Chill mixHm. Well, my latest mix that could be considered “chill” could be this:
Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars
Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran
Coal War by Joshua James
Such Great Heights by The Postal Service Timshel by Mumford & Sons
Three Headed Woman by Boy & Bear
Extreme Ways by Moby

However, I often just throw on a 70’s playlist on Songza when I want chill background tunes.

4. Favorite kink? To write? To participate?

Bey: Favourite to write? I don’t know. I haven’t written all my kinks yet. I’ll get back to you.
Favourite to participate? Well, it depends on how kinky you mean. I have mild kinks, like watching a good-looking guy eating with his hands… or a very muscular dude in a slightly too small, but very expensive suit. There’s just something about watching the shoulder seams creak on an $8000 suit, you know?
Not kinky enough? Well, one of my favourite kinks is response control. If I tell you that the only three things I want to hear coming out of your mouth are “Yes”, “Please”, and “Thank you”, those better damn be the only three things. *laughs*

5. Favorite porn star(s)?

Bey: Uhhh… Colby Keller is up there. I think he’s got a rockin’ bod, and he’s got this great growly thing he does, no matter if he’s top or bottom. But, you can set your watch by his “yeah, lick my balls” which has unfortunately started to make me laugh.

Hey… actually, you know what? Recently I’ve been watching more Levi Michaels. I don’t find him that physically attractive (not that I would kick him out of bed, mind you) but he makes these gorgeous, needy little sounds when he’s being fucked that are just… music. I want to hear his voice break as he begs.

6. What is your black hole of the internet? Where do you lose the most amount of hours in the most unproductive of ways?

Bey: Porn.

But is that really unproductive? I can’t write when I’m tense.
Second to that is Facebook. What a fucking time killer. But, I like talking to folks.

7. Did you ever get to fulfill your Joe Hardy fantasy?

Bey: Did I ever get to tie up Joe Hardy and subject him to a little torture and knife play? Lord… how many Joe Hardy’s have there been now…

8. Do you have a cut/uncut preference?

Bey: That's easy. Definitely uncut. More to play with and damn sexy. Aren't I lucky that I live in Québec where circumcision isn't that common?

9. What would you consider yourself: Dominant or submissive or switch?

Bey: A switch. Though I lean much more towards dom. It takes a special kind of individual to make me submit, and even then… it’s a struggle. But getting a full body massage has nothing on the relief I get from giving myself completely and totally over to someone else.

Thank you, Bey for stopping by and chatting with us. And he's so gracious to leave a "Caged: Love and Treachery on the High Seas" swag pack (paperback and mug) for one lucky visitor. Lucky winner is lucky.

About the author:

Artist, Writer, Dog Lover.

Born and raised in a small coastal town in northern Québec, Bey spent his early summers on his uncle’s boat and running wild on the beaches of the surrounding islands, lighting fires and building huts out of driftwood and fishermen’s nets. As an adult, he eventually made his way to university and earned a degree in Art History with a strong focus on Anthropology. Primarily a portrait painter and graphic artist, Bey sat down one day and decided to write about the two things that he felt most passionate about: sex and the sea.

Bey currently lives in the wilds of Montréal with his best buddy, a spotty pit bull named Murphy.
