BoyMeetsBoyReviews is so excited to invite KA Merikan to the clubhouse today. Our August AOTM, Merikan managed to do what most fail at - and make clowns readable. More than that, they made clowns sexy! The newest release from this writerly duo is about a teenage taxidermist...a must read if ever it's been heard of! KA Merikan put together a post just for us and, without further ado, we welcome them into the clubhouse...
Over to KA Merikan...
We have a special treat for the
unicorns of Boy Meets Boy Reviews! While thinking about the topic of this
blogpost, it occurred to me that Ethan, the main character of our newest book
would gladly get his hand on one. Sadly, real specimens are extremely rare
these days (and we’re not talking about human-unicorns here), so he would have
to make do with what’s available. A mounted unicorn would definitely fall into
the category of rogue taxidermy. It’s a term that describes creations of
animals that don’t exist in real life, such as long extinct species or
mythological creatures. Frequently, the artists use different parts of other
animals to bring their visions to life. A unicorn could be re-created from a
goat, a horse, possibly even a deer, with a horn sculpted into the desired
shape. Here are some examples: Here (awwww),here, (so cute) here,(wow) and here (adorable).
Ethan, the main character of Diary of a Teenage Taxidermist has been
fascinated by the possibilities of taxidermy as an art since an early age. He
specializes in anthropomorphization and frequently dresses his creations in
miniatures of human clothing and makes them act like the people around him. But
he is up for challenges. The first work he sold for a decent amount of money
was an elk head doubling as a house for anthropomorphized mice.
If he made a piece of unicorn
taxidermy, would it be realistic, following the known legends, or would he make
it into something different altogether? What would the public find more
interesting?
Eric from The Copper Horse on the other hand has interest in human-unicorns,
but he’s a bit preoccupied right now with his own pony.
Best wishes to all the unicorns of
Boy Meets Boy Reviews! :D
Diary of a Teenage
Taxidermist
K.A. Merikan
--Too cool for school.--
Ethan is a level-headed, some might say ‘antisocial’, young
artist-entrepreneur with a love for quirky taxidermy. He is close to graduating
high school and at a crossroads. All he wants is to develop his business
further, yet all his parents want is for him to go to law school. That is more
than enough problems for Ethan, so any kind of love life is off his agenda.
That is until Robert Hunter, the quarterback of the football team, comes
crashing into him. Literally.
Robert drifts along in high school. He has good grades,
he’s getting ready for med school, he’s even leaving potentially problematic
dating until college. He’s gay, not ashamed of it, but he doesn’t want to stir
up any trouble. His carefully laid plans might just go completely off the rails
though, when he drinks too much at a party and causes irreversible damage to
Ethan, the school’s weirdo.
Robert has to face the fact that maybe he isn’t the good
guy he always considered himself to be. And maybe he doesn’t want to go to med
school. And maybe, just maybe, he doesn’t actually want to wait with dating
until college.

K.A. Merikan is a joint project of Kat and Agnes Merikan,
who jokingly claim to share one mind. They finish each other’s sentences and
simultaneously come up with the same ideas. Kat and Agnes enjoy writing various
kinds of stories, from light-hearted romance to thrillers. They love creating
characters that are not easy to classify as good or evil, and firmly believe
that even some villains deserve their happy endings. It is easiest to find them
in galleries, restaurants and historical sites, always with a computer or
notebook, because for Kat and Agnes, every day is a writing day. Future plans
include lots of travel, and a villa on the coast of Italy or a flat in Paris
where they could retire after yet another crazy venture, only to write more hot
gay romances.
Thank you so much Kat and Agnes for dropping by, we always appreciate having you visit us! Those unicorns are adorable...
