Forever is too long to be alone.
Professor Avery Cook has spent his career researching the mysterious side of New Orleans. Superstitions, legends, and lore—Avery has an academic explanation for all of them….
Until one night when he walks into a bar and his life changes.
In a sea of impossibly beautiful people, Tyson stands out, and he sweeps Avery off his feet with his old-world charm and romanticism. But there’s a darkness in Tyson too, and Avery discovers Tyson is part of a world he thought existed only in books and stories—the paranormal tales he studies at the university.
Tyson’s been lonely for a long time, and he’s falling in love with Avery. But his past is a long one, and it’s full of enemies and danger. The best way to keep Avery safe is to push him away….
I will state now that I have never met a MJ O’Shea book that I didn’t like. There is something about the way she writes that makes me think we get one another because I always find myself entertained and in love with her romance.
So this book, I was way curious about it because it’s a Dreamspun Beyond book so we are getting the paranormal but the blurb doesn’t state what form of paranormal Tyson will be and that makes this a fascinating read.
With the story taking place in modern day New Orleans and Avery being a professor of humanities with a strong focus on paranormal activities or myths and legends, it wasn’t hard for me to picture the setting. I am going to put this out there now, I am a huge fan of the American Horror Story series and season three, Coven, was my favorite. And guess what? It also took place in New Orleans. Just thinking about the setting, the house that the witches lived in and thinking of Tyson’s house and a few other characters mentioned in the story that should be dead--but aren’t--reminded me of a light and fluffy version of American Horror Story complete with my own Kyle/Tate. Yup, Tyson in this book is going to be a version of a very blond Evan Peters. Don’t judge me, I have a thing for him.
Anyway.
Told from the dual POV’s of Avery and Tyson, we know that their day to day is pretty well, boring. Avery goes about his day with teaching and hanging out with friends when he has the chance. As a young genius, he’s gone to college and graduated early and he even has written his own book that is a required text for his class. But Avery has been waiting for that one moment to arrive when he knows his life will never be the same and he won’t want it any other way.
Now Tyson, we know he is something and from the beginning we know his housekeeper is as well and we know it all has something to do with the tea why they don’t age or die. The tea is the key but we don’t get to know all about it, what it does and what Tyson is until further into the book. But the cover for this story works and I love that it does. The title does too and that makes this ginger so very happy. But Tyson is an old soul, literally who lives a mundane life to sustain his immorality and yet, he’s searching for more and this time, he doesn’t need to feel itchy and move to a new town to find it.
So the story was absolutely fun and engaging. I like how Avery and Tyson meet and what the bar comes to mean in this world of things that go bump in the night. The chemistry is there from the start with these two and they are super cute about all of it. I adored how much Tyson is willing to sacrifice to be with Avery in the way Avery deserves even if it means he doesn’t stay on his tea regimen. Tyson and Avery are both in over the heads and head over heels for the other. But there are dark forces out there that Tyson has tangled with that will stress what they have together.
Wow. Have I said anything? I am rambling I know. The book was a lot of fun. Finding out what Tyson is when he tells Avery his secret also let us in on what everyone else at the bar etc was eye opening. So many creatures Avery has researched and studied are suddenly tangible and I think he handled it pretty well. Tyson on the other hand, you’t think someone as old as he was would be able to handle a relationship better but then again, Tyson has never been in love the way he is with Avery, so he’s sacred and we do dumb things when we are scared.
Through it all, Tyson and Avery find themselves swept into a romance between two worlds that has more than enough power to sustain their love. They just need to get on the right page and move forward, together.
The end came with the ultimate decision I hoped would be made with Tyson and Avery, though I wasn't expecting who would be the one to change. It was great though that both men are willing to go all in, and I do mean all in to be with the other. Also, Tyson’s gift to Avery and where Avery puts it made me giggle. These two really were adorable and I loved being a witness to their story.

Audiobook Review: Game Point by M.J. O'Shea
Game, set… match made in heaven.
Spoiled socialite Quinn Valenzuela has no interest in sports or his family’s huge sporting goods empire, Sparta Athletics. So when Quinn learns his grandfather has died and he’s in control of the corporation, no one is more surprised than Quinn himself.
Dedicated COO Porter Davis has little time and less patience for brats like Quinn who have never done a day’s work, but circumstances leave him with little choice. Quinn claims he’s ready to leave partying behind and grow up, but it’ll take more than words to earn Porter’s respect. As it turns out, they can work—and play—together after all. A friends with benefits arrangement makes sense for the two busy men, but are they too different for it to ever develop into more? Not if Quinn can convince Porter he has his head in the game.
Listening Length: 4 hrs 31 min
Narrator: Kenneth Obi
Definitely one of the more enjoyable Dreamspun Desires stories, this went down the hatch with nary a hiccough!
Porter, who is content and happy being the head of operations of one of the top sporting goods conglomerates is understandably devastated when the founder of said company dies suddenly. It’s bad enough that he’s lost his mentor, but when the entire company is left to the prodigal grandson Quinn, no one is more shocked than Porter. Quinn, who has been absent for years, is set to inherit the majority of shares but only if he chooses to stay and step into his grandfather’s position. The thought of the pampered young man being Porter’s boss is enough to make his blood boil!! He simply thinks of Quinn as a spoiled brat with not one responsible bone in his body, and thus wholly ill equipped to do the job. Suffice it to say, pissed off and indignant doesn’t even come close to how Porter feels.
Now granted, Quinn has not been the poster child for initiative and work ethic. Admittedly, he has been living the high life of parties and debauchery but lately, he’s been feeling a bit restless and not so satisfied. Quinn doesn't know why he’s avoided his family for so long, but his grandfather’s death is really just the push he needs for some serious life evaluation, and he’s determined to give this new opportunity a good go. Now, if Quinn can just navigate the sexy COO’s hostile attitude towards him, things might just go his way.
These two not surprisingly, don’t hit it off at all. Somehow though, circumstances force them to lay out the harsh truths and they grudgingly agree to give each other a chance, and lo and behold, both are amazed at just how well their strengths and assets work together. It doesn’t take long for them to establish a great working relationship, one that is busy and stressful and fulfilling, and perhaps could benefit from blowing off some much needed steam. With. Each. Other. Yep!
Narrated by Kenneth Obi, this was my first listening experience with him, and it went just as smoothly as the story did. Overall, Game Point was pretty much angst free, with the obligatory denial of feelings where perhaps that denial carries on just a tad too long. However, it really was a sweet story of enemies to friends to lovers (with a touch of age gap, a dollop of opposites attract, and a dash of sexy). O’Shea typically excels at such fluff, so fans of hers shouldn't have much complaint if at all, with this easy breezy read.
Thanks to the author/publisher for the audio in exchange for an honest review.

Do you see that? This huge grin on my face after finishing this book? This grin that says I am so in love with this story that I don’t want to contain my happy. The girl who doesn’t smile at work can’t stop and doesn’t care? *sigh*

At first it had been all heat and no substance. Now? It was everything.
This is one of my favorite tropes; enemies to lovers. I realized it while reading this that my love started with the 90’s movie The Cutting Edge. For months the off matched new couples skating pair of Kate Mosely and Doug Dorsey has been nothing but bickering back and forth. When they pair is at GET EVENT and Doug is supposed to be napping but Kate and her finance Hale run into him with another pair skater giggling and heading out, Kate flips. In her hotel room she rants and raves about what Doug should be doing, and why she doesn’t like him etc. but Hale gives a voice to her true feelings…
Hale: You're falling for him.
Kate: What?
Hale: Doug.
Hale: You are. You're falling for him.
Kate: Well, that's crazy.
Hale: You think so?
Kate: You're nuts.
Hale: Am I?
Kate: Well, you see how we act together.
Hale: Yes, I do.
Kate: We never get along. I mean, we're always fighting.
Hale: Foreplay.
That right there is everything and it’s why I love the enemies to lovers trope. There is something so damn satisfyingly sexy about crossing that line between loathe and lust that does it for me. When one doth protest too much, they really just want to let out some steam and fuck out their frustrations.
So anyway, now that I’ve got that out of the way.
This story actually begins on a somber note. Porter awakens to a call from Marisol, the daughter of his boss and associate telling him that the man he has come to feel as his father has suddenly passed away. Hector Valenzuela, CEO of Sparta Athletics had worn so many labels in Porter’s life after his knee injury ended his tennis career. Hector was not only a mentor who took Porter under his wing giving him a new life and career but the man shared his life and family with Porter and his sister Perry. Losing Hector hits Porter hard.
Meanwhile, Hector’s blood relative Quinn Valenzuela is off living the playboy life in Spain with his best friends Dane and Hunter when after a night out clubbing, he has many missing calls from his mother. Getting in touch with her and hearing of his grandfather’s passing has Quinn on a plane headed for Seattle, his home that never really felt like it.
We know from Porter’s POV that he has unkind feelings toward Quinn and it takes a bit to get down to the actual why. Porter’s had to work for everything he has and resents that Quinn hasn’t. It’s not just Quinn’s problem though as we learn more about Porter’s parents, it makes sense why he would have the initial reaction to Quinn.
All Quinn wants to do is come home, to spend some time with the mother that sent him away as a young boy to boarding school as the best option of him. Sadly, the option to send him away from his family has led to Quinn feeling lost and ungrounded but while the reason he is home is a melancholy one, he’s determined to make his grandfather proud.
We don’t get much of Quinn and Porter together in the beginning of the book until Hector’s Will is actually read and then the shit hits the fan. Porter never expected that he would be given Sparta fully, he expected that Hector’s shares of the company would go to Marisol, but Hector had other ideas and bequeathed his shares to Quinn. No one is more surprised by this decision than Quinn and though he tries to give them to his mother, he ultimately makes the decision to honor his grandfather and do the job he’s been given.
To say Quinn is unhappy would be putting it lightly. He doesn’t want to work with Quinn and considers having him in the offices a distraction he doesn’t have time for but Quinn is technically his boss so he has to deal with it. It’s a good thing Quinn has had a lot of practice charming the pants off everyone from socialites to royalty so winning over one Porter Davis shouldn’t be that hard should it?
These two were a blast to hang out with while I did nothing at work but sneak read this book. Yeah, it was that good that I kept reading when I should have been preparing my annual report but I couldn’t stop. Once Quinn stands up to Porter, which of course impresses Porter and Porter realizes what an asset Quinn can truly be to him and the company, the romance gets going and the going was good.
When enemies become friends and friends realize their hot friend who they only just acquired the knowledge was gay needs to burn off steam and tennis just won’t do, you do the only thing you can to help. Offer up your ass for sex so you can both benefit. Yup, not only do we get enemies to lovers we get it with friends with benefits and that first kiss was perfect.
I thought I was happy, you know, fine. But I wasn’t. I didn’t even know I was missing you.
Watching Quinn and Porter become friends was adorable. Watching them become fuck buddies was hot. But watching them fall so deep in love they don’t want to admit it or really recognize it was happening was pure joy to my hopeless romantic heart.
Sure, there are some ups and downs with these two but they build a foundation of friendship and trust with one another that’s strong that even a misunderstanding can’t upset the romance. It did hurt my heart to see the couple hurting and how everyone needed to show them how truly in love they were but the last scene was worth it.
M.J. O’Shea has created on hell of a romantic story with Game Point that has both men winning at love. It’s a story about taking a chance, finding home and opening up yourself to the possibilities of true romantic affection.
Audiobook Review: The Worst Best Man by M.J. O'Shea
It was her special day... but his worst nightmare.
A rekindled romance wasn’t part of the plan.
Despite his American background, August O’Leary is the most sought-after wedding planner in London. Naturally, Libby and Edward come to him for a wedding the city will never forget. But Edward is an international businessman, so the details are left to Libby and her best friend—who happens to be the love of August’s life and the one who broke his heart eight years ago: Christopher Burke.
How’s August supposed to pull off the event of the year with Christopher distracting him and old feelings crashing the party uninvited?
Christopher has let money and status dictate his life, but no more. His failure to stand up to others’ expectations cost him his future with August—one he hoped would include marriage. Now he has to face August’s hurt and anger and prove he’s still the best man to make August happy.

This was my first Dreamspun Desires book, and I have to say on a whole, it was pretty good with just some niggles.
Way back when in college, August and Christopher were fabulously in love. They were inseparable and believed they’d never be apart. However, they were from vastly different worlds, with most likely hundreds of millions of dollars separating them in social status, and ultimately, Christopher was pressured by his parents to break things off with August. Ever since then, Christopher hasn’t forgiven himself and has regretted his decision, never having moved on. So, when happenstance allows him to meet up with August years later, he’s determined to right some wrongs and get his man back. August understandably, is still hurt. He too hasn’t found someone to measure up to what he had with Christopher, but he’s hesitant and wary, not trusting Christopher to carry things through.
Admittedly, there was some initial angst, especially when these two first meet back up again, but the gradual wooing and winning August over was very sweet and enjoyable. I admit, I was hesitant to read this due to the preconceived notion that this was smexy-light but was oh-so pleasantly surprised. Granted, there isn’t act after act after act, but what we got was nice and steamy. Things progress smoothly until that requisite misunderstanding inevitably occurs, a tactic that I feel is overly used and is often tiresome...
SPOILER: It’s basically one big miscommunication that seemed to me, a bit blown out of proportion, and while forgivable, it dragged out way too long. Then the conflict was rectified so quickly it made me wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.
However, this is O’Shea and she typically writes easy breezy, sweet romance, which this delivered on except that last 15% or so. I think this DSP series definitely has its pros, and I’m not opposed to more!
On a side note, I listened to this story narrated by Dorian Bane. This was my first from this narrator, and I’m not completely sold. His voice is consistently raspy/husky which made it hard at first to differentiate between all the characters, but luckily, the MC’s were distinct - August having a Boston accent, Christopher a British one. I was a bit tickled though, because Christopher sounded exactly like Jude Law to me, so if you like his voice, then you’ll surely enjoy this. Overall, this narration was just “okay”.

Audiobook Review: Open Road by M.J. O'Shea
Angus has been with the same guy for ten years. When his boyfriend breaks up with him the night of his thirtieth birthday party and announces his engagement to a twenty-two-year-old less than ten hours later, Angus is… a mess. To put it lightly. He spends days in bed, drinks himself into a stupor every night, and ends up losing his job and his apartment. His best and oldest friend, Reece, decides it’s time for an intervention. And a change of scenery.
Reece and Angus take off on a buddy trip across the US. They don’t have much of a plan; they just start driving. It takes Angus a couple of days to do much more than grunt when Reece talks to him, but slowly he opens up. They drive, talk, heal, shout, drink a bit too much sometimes, dance, meet new friends… and somewhere between Portland, Oregon, and Portland, Maine, they fall in love.
Which was the last thing in the world Angus expected.

Before I start, I'm gonna refer you to Lori and Sheziss' reviews on the book itself. My rating is for the audiobook edition only. The only reason I finished the audiobook was the story and I really wish I had read it.
Because, goddamn, this audiobook is a bit of hot mess and not in a “It’s a mess, but I’d still bang it” kind of way. I was really looking forward to listening to this slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance and I could tell when I was listening that I loved the story. The narration? Not at all.
I expect to hear affected speech patterns in skits or commercials, those mediums have a brief amount of time to make an impression so everything is cranked up to 11. Fair enough. This wasn’t a story told in minutes though, this was six freakin’ hours of too damn much. I’m fine with a little camp, a little campiness can be fun, but to have that one note for that long turns the characters into caricatures and these guys deserved better than that.
It wasn’t just the overly effusive speech I had a problem with, it was the consistency. Both Angus and Reece had about three different voices for each and when it was just the two of them speaking it felt like there were a half dozen people in the room. Poor Angus was stuck in a permanent whine and varied between falsetto, breathy old woman to VERY falsetto, breathy small child. It is a slow burn romance which worked perfectly for the story, so when the sexy times happened, all I could do was cringe and wince. I should never cringe and wince during a hard won boning. Not ever. Then there’s Reece; sometimes he sounds like a normal dude (not often) but otherwise he vacillates between Tad, the entitled frat douche and Thurston Howell III. Every time he called Angus “Babe” I was transported to the island via a three hour tour. A threeeee hour tooooour.
This story could, and should, have made an amazing audiobook. There was a lot of great dialog and a lot of those ‘moments’ that readers love. The road trip was epic and made me want to load up the car and head out. A few pronunciations threw me repeatedly, please stop calling a mojito a mo-jee-toe, for instance. I digress into bitching again, my apologies. It was just frustrating as a listener because again, this is the perfect book to be transported into audio format, but the execution failed for me.
My nit-picks could very well just be my own, but I would highly recommend listening to the sample first and most definitely read the book.

Well this was a disappointment. Honestly, I really wasn’t expecting much from this, as in I was hoping for some ridiculously cheesy ‘The Wedding Planner’ type story, nothing amazing but fun nonetheless. Unfortunately it didn't really do that for me either.
August and Christopher dated for three years in college (at oxford), Christopher is from an upper-class English family and August is a middle class American. Christopher's parents pressure him to break it off with August, which he does, telling August he needs someone more suited to his ‘type’ of people. Eight years later they meet again when August is hired to plan Chris’s best friends wedding.
Chris and August’s reunion and tentative reconciliation was the best part of the story. Chris has to make up for the hurt he caused August and August slowly starts to trust Chris again. The build up was realistic, but...
I was seriously seriously struggling to get through this and I skimmed a lot in the end. While I struggled with the boredom, I didn't hold that against the story. I could still tell that it was me and not the writing or plot until…. their ridiculous break up at the end. I hate stupid break-ups near the end of a story! I can forgive them if its a legit reason (no miscommunication), or helps strengthen the relationship. This was absolutely neither. It was one of those predictable juvenile break-ups where 30 year men suddenly start acting like 14 year girls and not talking! It seems they thought the best way to ‘work out’ their issues as adults was to storm off, avoid talking to each other for weeks and then move…... What the hell! Grr anyway, that sealed the deal for me. 2 hearts!
Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for this book, lots of other people enjoyed it, but I just couldn’t. It was boring, then it was frustrating so even though the relationship build-up wasn't terrible, I just couldn't rate it any higher.

Review: Marriage of Inconvenience by M.J. O'Shea
Lights, Camera, Lies.
Kerry Pickering has a problem. As a publicist for Hollywood bad boy Jericho Knox, it’s Kerry’s job to keep Jericho in the news. So far, Jericho’s partying and public escapades have made it easy. But Jericho has a secret, and when that secret is revealed in the most spectacularly disastrous way, it’s up to Kerry to spin it.
The team decides the best course of action is to make the public fall in love—with Jericho’s secret committed relationship. The one that doesn’t exist. Yet.
The team wants someone they can trust. Someone in the inner circle. That someone is Kerry. But what will happen when Kerry realizes that for him, the romance is no longer pretend? Can Jericho love him back, or is he just playing a role?
I know this series is the literary equivalent of binge watching ALL THE chic flicks but they work for me. Who doesn't like a little escapist sugar fluff every now and again?
I'll wear my Dreamspun cotton candy tiara AND eat my cake while happily wallowing in all the squishy feels. Thank you very much.
This is yet another fake boyfriend turns into real boyfriend after a faux pas in a bathroom stall that threatens to tank Jericho Knox's fledgling movie star career. I know you are basically required to relinquish reality when it comes to this series and I eventually did, but the whole paparazzi not pursuing Kerry's identity like the rabid pack of dogs they are was a challenge. Just add a little alcohol to that cotton candy and press on. #protip
Kerry Pickering just a regular guy struggling to hang on to the bottom rung at his PR firm, relegated to tweeting banal updates for B-list celebs. He gets a bit of a break when the boss asks him to come up with a list of willing and wholesome arm candy for Jericho so he can improve his bad boy image and secure his role on a big name prime time show. Then gets an even bigger break when Jericho gets caught in flagrante delicto. At the gay club. Oops.
*cue gasps*
Jericho isn't really closeted, but Kerry is flabbergasted. Most in the celeb crowd know he's been trying to come out and stop with all this fake girlfriend business for quite some time. But this outing happened at an inopportune time and the show is threatening to dump him. Kerry actually comes up with the plan of making the faceless guy in the photo his longtime fiancé and spinning a privacy violation.
Great plan is great! Until Kerry's boss and all the others notice the resemblance and "volunteer" (read: strong arm) Kerry. I stuffed my face with this Dreamspun gold! I'm not even going to lie. Neither one is crazy about the situation for their own reasons, but the attraction is too fierce for either of them to deny.
Both of their families are adorable and contribute to the plot. Everyone can tell that they've moved beyond fake to real and their progression from one to the other was steady and believable.
The conflict was a bit flimsy in my opinion and I would've liked more groveling from Jericho. A lot more. Dick move, bro. Dick move.
But the ending was sweet if a little abrupt and the sex was hot so I'm not complaining too much.
Recommend to fans of this series. You know who you are.

Blog Tour: Marriage of Inconvenience by M.J. O'Shea
M.J. O'Shea is here today to talk about her contribution to the Flufftastic Dreamspun Series, Marriage of Inconvenience.
Hi guys this is MJ O’Shea here!
I wanted to talk a little bit about Kerry, one of the two main characters in Marriage of Inconvenience. Kerry hasn’t had an easy time of it lately. He went from being the guy at the publicity firm that did busywork and updated clients twitter feeds and facebook pages. All of a sudden he’s been dumped into the deep end and is now about to be front and center in one of his firm’s publicity stunts… as badboy actor Jericho Knox’s supposed secret, but long term, partner. He just met the guy a few hours ago.
Kerry hasn’t ever wanted to be in the spotlight, and he’s feeling pretty unsure about the whole thing, but it’s been made pretty clear to him that he’s expected to go through with it if he wants to be seen as a team player.
He’s kind of… screwed.
Here’s a little bit of the part where Kerry has to tell his brother Cole that he’s been assigned to fake fiancé duty for TV star Jericho Knox. Cole is definitely not happy about it, Kerry’s not very happy about it, Jericho isn’t very happy about it…but the show must go on and Kerry has to explain that to his brother and get him on board with the whole program.
Excerpt
“HEY, man,” Kerry said when he walked in the door. He was glad it was just Cole in their apartment. They had some things to talk about, and their roommate Robbie didn’t need to get involved in them.
“What’s up, Bro?” Cole paused his video game and tossed the controller onto their thrift shop coffee table. It always felt weird for Kerry to come home to their very humble apartment after a day dealing with the rich and fabulous in a very expensive of places. Mostly a relief, to tell the truth. He plunked down the box of papers he’d brought with him along with the two suitcases he’d dragged up from their basement storage locker.
“I’ve got something to talk to you about.”
“That doesn’t sound good. You’re not moving out, are you?” Cole eyed the suitcases.
“No. Well, sort of, but not really. It’s just temporary.”
“What?” Cole shot out of the slouchy position he’d been in, his spine ramrod straight. Cole had chosen specifically to live in an apartment instead of the dorms or the frat house because he wanted to live with family. He’d always been that guy. They both were.
“I’m not moving out,” Kerry promised. “I just have to go stay somewhere else for a while.”
“Where?”
“Let me start at the beginning.”
Kerry took a deep breath, which was mostly just pausing. Or stalling. He had serious doubts Cole was going to be okay with what he was about to do. Hell, he had serious doubts that he was okay with it. But it was part of the job. Right?
“I’m waiting.” Cole didn’t look like he was waiting... more like he was deciding how pissed he was about to be.
“So, you know how we deal with celebrities and publicity, right?”
“Yes. Because you work for a publicist. I am in college, Kerry, not kindergarten.”
“Okay. Sorry. Anyway, one of our clients has gotten himself into a bit of trouble lately.”
“Which one?”
Technically he wasn’t supposed to say much, but he’d gotten a pass for Cole; well, that, and a huge NDA for him to sign, but he’d get to that part later. “Jericho Knox.”
Cole’s eyes flew open. “You work for him directly?”
“Yeah. I do now. I think you can guess why.”
“Man, he’s in trouble for that picture. It’s all anyone on campus is talking about.”
Kerry could understand why. It wasn’t every day that Hollywood’s most famous skirt chaser got caught being very publicly, well, gay. Gay and with his pants down.
“The company has come up with a plan to turn that around, make people talk about some good things instead of his indiscretion.”
“What’s the plan?”
Cole knew. He knew the plan was going to involve Kerry somehow, and he wasn’t going to like it. Kerry could see it in his face.
“They decided Jericho needs to have a serious partner nobody knew about who could’ve been the guy in that picture. A fiancé. One who is slight... and has dark hair... someone they could trust who wouldn’t blab to the tabloids and screw up the story. They want it to look like a serious couple who had their privacy invaded.”
Cole froze. “Don’t even say it, Bro. You’re not doing this.”
“I am. It’s going to be me. I’m Jericho Knox’s new fiancé.”
“No. Hell no. My brother isn’t going to be all over the Internet as the guy who blew Jericho Knox in public. You didn’t, did you?”
“Screw you. Of course it’s not me. I’ve met the guy twice, and I didn’t exactly like him. Plus, we met in a boardroom, not a bar.”
“Okay. Just making sure. I don’t like this. I don’t want that for you.”
“They’re going to spin it, blame the person who took the picture for abusing our private moment. As of tomorrow, Jericho Knox and I are going to be in love. And engaged to be married. Engaged people have sex. People will... forget about the picture eventually.”
“Hell, man....” Cole just sank into the couch like the shock was too much for his stomach muscles to handle. “And you have to move in with him?”
“Yeah. There are paps camped out in front of his house trying to get a reaction out of him. And even if there weren’t, Jones would hire some to make sure I was seen there. It’s going to have to look pretty realistic to turn things around for Jericho. A hell of a lot more realistic than the typical celebs who go on a few dates with their assistants in the background and get their picture taken by some fans.”
“I don’t even get your world.” Cole shook his head. He looked disgusted.
“Sometimes I don’t either.”
“So you’re moving in with Jericho goddamn Knox.”
“You make him sound like a monster.”
“Is he any better? From what I’ve seen, the guy’s an asshole. And... wasn’t he supposed to be some kind of womanizer?”
“He’s not. I asked. He’s not even bi. That was all just spin to keep his name in the tabloids, and the public away from the truth.”
“Gay Camouflage 101?” Cole asked.
Kerry shrugged. “Yeah. Pretty common move. I can’t believe I was surprised when I found out the truth.”
“Jesus.”
“Anyway, you can’t tell the guys. I mean, Robbie yeah, since he knew last week that I’d never met Jericho, so he’d have to know something was up, but nobody else. Or Mom and Dad.”
“What the hell, K? They’re not going to believe you just miraculously started dating a movie star, didn’t tell them, and got engaged. Nobody’s going to buy it.”
“I’m going to make them buy it. That’s my job. Your only job is to not tell them the truth. It would get too messy if a ton of people know.” Kerry felt a disgusting pit in his stomach. He had a feeling his parents were going to end up with the truth and a whole lot of promises not to say anything.
Cole glared at him. “Just in case you were wondering, I really don’t like this. I doubt you were wondering, though.”
