Mike agrees, until the army invokes the stop-loss military policy to involuntarily extend his commission and send him back overseas, rendering him powerless and threatening everything he and Will have built. Will, left alone to cope with a new café, must rely on the support of old friends who may no longer be trustworthy.

A horrific terrorist attack on Mike’s outpost changes everything, leaving them both at a loss.

Mike awakens in a hospital with a devastating injury and no recollection of the attack. As the only survivor, his memory may be the key to national security. Mike struggles to cope with his injury and Will struggles with his new role in Mike’s life.

For Mike and Will, “No Flag” meant “come home alive.” Will has Mike back rather than a folded flag, but in the aftermath of war, can they rebuild the life they had before?

Wake Up
Germany, July 6, 2012
Beep, beep, beep.
The sound of the machine was like an ice pick in Mike’s brain. Machine? Where was he? He tried to inhale, but choked on the smell of alcohol, plastic, and sterility in the air. Hospital. Shit. What the hell happened? Mike couldn’t remember…anything. Voices around him spoke a mixture of German and English. He pried his eyes open and focused on a woman in green scrubs.
“Good morning,” the woman said, sympathy in her eyes.
must look bad. And is it morning? “Um…” Mike lifted his hand to scratch his head, but it was so bogged down with wires, he did not get far. The other hand felt heavy, or maybe weightless. He couldn’t tell. What did they have him on? Whatever it was, was not enough.
“Do you know your name?”
“Michael Kelley.” The whole left side of his body burned and throbbed.
A man entered the room. “Captain Kelley, my name is Dr. Tate. How do you feel?” “Like the machine is drilling holes through my brain.” Mike tried again to move his head, but the neck brace kept it straight. He didn’t know if he was relieved or annoyed not to see the damage right away.
“I’m happy to see you awake and talking. Would you answer a few questions for me, so I can get a handle on your neurological function?” Mike was pretty sure he nodded because the doctor asked about his birthday, hometown, family, and a bunch of stupid questions about elephants floating on water and one pound being more than two. What the hell do elephants have to do with brain activity? Mike’s brain was fine, except knowing why he was here. “I’m going to check your surgery wounds, and we’ll arrange transport to the States. You’ll probably be at Walter Reed tomorrow night.”
“Surgery? Tomorrow?” Must be minor if I’m going home so soon. Then Will can kill me for getting hurt.
The doctor’s face changed to deep concern. “Do you know what happened?”
“No. The last thing I remember was a ringing phone and…an explosion behind me. Then nothing,” Mike recalled. “I’m okay, Dr. Tate. I have to be. You’re sending me home tomorrow.”
Dr. Tate sat on the chair next to Mike’s bed. “Captain Kelley—”
“Please, it’s Mike.”
“Mike, a group of insurgents broke through the security of the building where you were stationed. The explosion you heard could have been any one of the ten IEDs set off by the suicide bombers,” Dr. Tate started. “I’m sorry. You were awake when you came in. I thought you knew.”
No, no, that’s not right. If there were ten IEDs set off by suicide bombers, I would be underground. Not the doctor’s fault he was given bad information. All civilians are.
“Did everyone make it out?”
“Unfortunately, no. Twenty servicemen and women lost their lives.”
Mike lifted his eyes toward the ceiling to dry the physical proof of his emotions. “I’m all right?” He hated how selfish the question sounded, but he had to know.
“The left side of your torso is afflicted with first- and second-degree burns.” Dr. Tate paused and glanced up at the nurse, who—in what seemed like a choreographed move—put her hand on Mike’s shoulder. “The bomb also destroyed the building. A wall collapsed on your left arm, which had to be cut off to free you.”
“But you put it back on, right, Dr. Tate?” Mike scanned their faces, the kindness now looking more like pity. He had to be dreaming, or they were lying. Why couldn’t he move his head? Fuck it! He didn’t have to move his head. He’d move his damn arm! “I’m waving, doctor. It hurts, but I can do it. Why would you lie?” Mike gasped for breath.
The doctor stood, unfastened Mike’s neck brace, and encouraged him to turn his head. Though, suddenly, he didn’t want to. The hospital gown sleeve covered whatever remained of his left arm. “I’m sorry, Mike,” Dr. Tate said. “I could only even the bone and clean out lingering infected skin and muscle. Your arm was crushed.”
“All right, I’ll get a prosthetic when the swelling goes down. How long will that take?” Yeah, the rehab would suck, but Mike could deal. People managed much worse circumstances coming home from war.
Dr. Tate shook his head. “Because of where the wall fell, the army medic had to cut off the edge of your shoulder. By the time you arrived here, the infection had spread through the rest of the joint. A prosthetic is not possible without a joint.”
So… I’ll have to live the rest of my life with one arm? Can I ever hope to hold Will securely again? Oh, god, how will I fold my clothes properly? But instead of expressing the dread shooting through his heart and mind, Mike said, “Thank you for saving me.” He wanted nothing more than to be alone to process his future. Because if the doctor stayed much longer, he would see how distraught the prospect made Mike.
“Of course. Please know every one of us here is grateful for what you and all the troops do.” Dr. Tate unwrapped the stump that used to be Mike’s shoulder. “It will get better. There are support groups and many advances in medical technology that will improve your quality of life.”
My quality of life was fine before the stop-loss sent me overseas. He blinked the thoughts away. Mike had been given a chance that twenty of his friends had not. He would not let himself think about the broken promise to Will. I’ll come back and it’ll be like nothing changed. Now everything had changed.

Chapter One
The News

July 7, 2012

Bombs exploded on the evening news, one after the other. Body parts flew past the camera. The headline across the bottom of the screen read: “20 Army Intelligence Officers Dead.”

“Early this morning, a bomb exploded in the Army Intelligence building, killing twenty American soldiers from Platoon 518,” the blonde newswoman reported.

Will Kelley squinted as the fuzzy security images played behind the woman’s head, searching through the chaos for reassurance. Nothing. His heart pounded and he tried to swallow but found only dry air in his mouth and throat. The female reporter described the weapons used and structural damage done in vivid detail, which made for sensational television, but failed to answer any questions for the people at home. Victims’ families had to be notified before the media could release their names. So, Blondie would lose her job if she read the list in front of her.

“What the hell are you doing, man? We open in thirty minutes and you’re watching television?” Seth, his roommate, demanded from the doorway of the living room.

“Answered your own question, didn’t you?” Will responded.

“Are you ready?”

“No.” Will did not take his eyes off the screen. “I’ll drive myself.”

“When?”

The report flashed to an increase in allergies in children, so Will switched to another station while typing “Attack on American S2 Building in Afghanistan” into Google. It wouldn’t be that easy though. So, Will tried several more combinations of search terms before finding a video shot by an insurgent involved in the attack. The camera shuddered. Focused on different areas of the chaos. Men ripping clothes off soldiers. Looting. Bodies blown to bits. A man removing computer hard drives. And only one face. On the severed head of Major Evans.

“Will!” Seth jabbed him in the shoulder with a pen. Will forced his eyes away from the computer. “What happened?”

“Mike’s platoon was attacked. Twelve survivors.”

“Shit,” Seth said. “Can you call…?”

Will took a slug from the nearby water bottle. “Who? No one will talk to me. I’m not my husband’s family.”

Seth stared at him for a long moment and said, “I’ll have Casey cover for you.”

Will stood and shook his head. “Why? I can’t do anything here except watch the same videos over and over. May as well see if I can make some money.” He shut his computer and set it on the side table. “Meet you there. I won’t be too late. Promise.” He had to stop himself from scoffing as the meaningless word left his lips.

“Will…” Seth began.

“You wanted me to move, I’m moving! Go. I’ll be there.” He walked toward his bedroom, Seth’s gaze burning into his back. Stopping to throw a glance over his shoulder, he added, “Don’t tell Casey. I can do without her mother-henning me.”

“Will…”

“Please, Seth.”

“Sure.”

“Thanks.” Will climbed the steps and closed his bedroom door. He leaned against the wood cutting him off from the rest of the world. His gaze roamed the four walls decorated with art prints, a whiteboard, and his wedding picture. Will strode over and fingered the golden frame. Behind the glass lay a photograph of Will and Mike in tuxes in the middle of their first dance. Their smiles easily outshone the gold on the frame. Mike had always been handsome with broad, built shoulders and muscular pecs, leading to abs you could grate cheese on.

But none of that stood out to Will, not on their wedding day of the year before. Mike’s blue eyes radiated a strength and hope. Will removed his wedding band to read the promise inscribed: No Flag.

Please keep your promise, Mike, Will thought as he took a deep breath and tore himself away from the picture and the crushing memories it brought. He had a job to do tonight.

Follow Your Heart's Discipline Calling

Finnegan Brighton is twenty-seven, has never moved out of Dad’s house, can’t keep a job and has to rely on his brother for continued food and shelter. In a bold move, he ships himself off to one of those new, fangle-dangle, discipline schools hoping to turn his life around. But it’s not just a whim, he’s finally answering a calling inside of him, one he’s ignored until now. The school turns out to be more than he bargained for, giving him a family of men just like him, who want to teach him that he can love himself enough to have everything he’s ever wanted. He just has to do the one thing he’s never been able to do: Surrender.

Enter Xavier.

Xavier is the school’s unyielding headmaster and founder. Oh, and he happens to be interested in the one Finnegan Brighton. Surely with the forces of the strict headmaster and Finnegan’s affectionate, if overzealous domestic discipline family, he can overcome himself, his own worst enemy, and surrender to who he is inside, right? Or will his crushing self-doubt chain him to old patterns forever?

Either way, much spanking ensues! A polyamorous love story with brats and Tops.

Excerpt

From Chapter 6

Dammit. I know what to do. I need to do it. As much as Tops are drawn to soothe us … oh fine ‘brats’, us brats are drawn to soothe Tops. I’ve watched Grayson do it a ton, Chris, Bellamy and Johnny too. Even Bray when he’s in the mood. I swallow. “Oh, sir? One more thing. We can still have people over, right?” It’s not against House rules for each of us to have one friend from another House over. If it’s more than that, it turns into a party, which would require permission, but as the rules stand, that means one for me and one for Grayson.

His eyes narrow. “Who?”’

I shrug. “Haven’t decided yet, but there is this hot Top, Nikolage, from one of my harder classes. Maybe he can uh, help me with my homework?” I waggle my eyebrows, suggesting that yes, fucking Nikolage is what I mean.

His chair slides out, he stands, hands flat on the desk and my heart’s beating so damn fast. I have to take a stealthy breath. Maybe I should abandon the whole thing—I’m poking at a fucking lion and I know it—but I also know in my bones it’s the right thing to do.

“No.”

“Why?” I dare to cross my arms at him—a, God … a brat’s red flag, okay?

“Come here, my little Finnegan.” He flashes shark teeth at me. He is predator, I am prey.

I want to buckle, I want to tell him I’m just kidding, but I’m in too deep now. I commit. “So you can spank me? Forget it. It’s not against the rules. I was kind enough to even run it by you. I’ll be leaving now.”

I went too far didn’t I? Yep. Too far.

Xavier clears his desk in a smooth, panther-like leap. I’m quick to respond, gripping either side of the leather chair I was just sitting in, catapulting myself over it. But I was a hockey player, not a gymnast and though my response is quick, my catapulting skills aren’t graceful. I catch the chair and hit my knee, landing like a rock on the other side. “Fuck!” I roll on the ground behind it, licking my wounds.

How is it I can take one helluva spanking, but this paralyzes me?

Xavier’s there fast, reminding me of Superman, with the way his jacket flares. He crouches beside me. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. Are you hurt?”

I laugh. “I’m fine. I wasn’t scared.”

“You were a bit, but ... well I thought you wanted me to chase you.” I’ve never seen the man blush, he does now. He can’t even look at me.

I wait until he braves my eyes again. “Xavier, I did want you to chase me.”

He stares frozen, my words sinking in, as my heart thumps loud drumbeats into my ears. While I wait for him to come to, I rub my sore knee. It is fine, but there’s gonna be a nice bruise I’ll have to explain to Ani later. I smile thinking of the arnica he’ll insist he has to apply to it. Xavier notices my rubbing.

“Your knee.”

“No, Xavier—”

But it’s too late. He scoops me up and it’s fucking embarrassing how easy it is for him to lift me. It’s not like I’m small. He’s got me bridal style and he swings me around, placing me in the chair and bending down to inspect the knee. I wore loose jeans, he’s able to roll them up to have a look. “Doesn’t look to be swelling, but you’ll ice it anyway when you’re home. Understood?”

He’s holding my knee in both of his elegant hands, which are hot against my skin. I have to look down at him. “I will, sir.”

I’m kicking myself now. This was a disaster. One point to me on not being a brat, a real brat would have pulled this off, I end up injuring myself.

“Now that it’s established your knee will be fine, we will address, Nikolage.” His nose wrinkles, his form takes up all the space in the room once again.

Shit. Already forgot about Nikolage. “There’s no Nikolage. I just said that to—”

“—I know Nikolage.”

“I meant there’s no Nikolage for me, sir. I only said that to, never mind. May I go?”

He’s staring at me for a new reason now, a smile spreads slowly, reaching his eyes. He yanks me up. We’re close, my lips aren’t far from his. “I want to spank you so badly right now.”

That was the goal. “You uh, you can, sir.” My voice is above a whisper.

“I know. I can spank you whenever I want. But that would not be a good idea. It’s day eight, Finnegan.”

“I am well aware of the day, Headmaster Harkness,” I say, boldness returning. Two can play the game of cheek, but only one of us will win, we both know it’s going to be him.

“All right, that’s quite enough cheek from you, brat.”

I light up everywhere. Maybe him calling me brat isn’t so bad?

“I don’t date people, Mr. Brighton. I own them. Do you want to be owned?”

About the Author

Some of you know her as Mock, others as S. Legend, or Miss S.  She welcomes all names but will often go by Mock, a name given to her by her readers.

Mock is an ambitious creative, weaving the most precious aspects of her soul into stories.  She is an architect, building fascinating worlds, designed from inquiry, rooted in worldly wonderings.  It’s an intuitive process where she is the scribe, the translator, the conduit.

It helped that storytelling was the language spoken at home.  One simply didn’t say, “We have an ant infestation. ” In Mock’s family it was, “I was on my way to the living room, when a peculiar ant crossed my path.  I looked to my right, a suspicious line of them marched toward the pantry.  In that moment I knew; my kitchen was under siege.”  The natural flow of conversation always took this form.

And so.

When Mock wrote her first novel, she didn’t plan it chapter by chapter, there was no outline, no “plotting” to speak of.  But she didn’t “pants” it either, she didn’t make it up as she went along.  She knew how the story felt, where it curved in places and hollowed in others; she knew the destination it rushed toward.  Instead of orchestrating, she let the world inspire her, and held space for the words to come, trusting the characters knew what they were doing.  All she had to do was tell a story, as she always had done; like breathing.

This is her peace, her healing and solace: Gifts better shared.

Mock’s works are the comfort you seek when you need to come home.  Her unique writing style will take you, wayfaring reader, to unexpected destinations.

She always says, “I’m not in the business of making up stories, I couldn’t if I tried.  I’m lucky enough to get picked to share someone else’s story when I ask a question to the universe.  Someone answers; I write it down.”

Guest Review: Rules to Break (Davey's Rules #2) by Susan Hawke

Davey’s Rule #91: Daddy never loses faith in his boy.

Bryan Miller is satisfied with his uncomplicated life. He’s a discipline Daddy who’s not in the market for any kind of permanent relationship. And why should he be? Like the waves he surfs in the small beach town he calls home, there’s always another body available to warm his bed when he tires of the current flavor of the week.

Preston Wallace is a snotty rich brat with enough attitude to keep all the Daddies from giving him a chance. He gets it… people are jealous of him for being rich, hot, and fit. It would take a strong Daddy to take him in hand.

A casual conversation on the night of Preston’s twenty-fifth birthday ties these two stubborn men together in a bet right out of the musical My Fair Lady. Can Daddy Bryan turn the obnoxious brat into a dateable boy within a ninety-day timeframe?

Strap in for a roller-coaster of emotions as Bryan takes firm control of a brat who might just need to know someone cares enough to try.

Reviewer: Shee Reader

I hadn’t read Book one in the series before this one, but I sure as heck sought it out and read it after! This book works fine as a stand alone, I just really enjoyed it!

I really love a fake relationship, or a bet that means our two main characters are ‘forced’ into proximity with one another. These two are a perfect match and Bryan’s discipline and developing love are exactly what Preston desperately needs.

The ‘big, gruff, I’m not looking for anything serious type alpha male’ is such a fun trope when the reader can see exactly what the man actually needs, and is delighted to see him get it!

The writing is easy to engage with, and low on heavy angst, although there is plenty of heartache. I felt so much for poor Preston and his clinical (though spoilt) childhood where the domestic staff really were his only family.

The story is engaging and warm, funny and sexy and so bittersweet at times I loved it and looked out the previous book. There’s a whole host of boys who need a daddy to love them, so I’m hopeful of more to come.

This was a charming book, I’d recommend.

I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Daddy's Forbidden Room by K.A. Merikan

“Oh, Kevin, no… you don’t need a boyfriend. What you need is a Daddy.”

Kevin knows his worth. He’s a cute twink who, despite his lack of experience, has a lot to offer. So when life deals him lemons, all he needs is sugar to make lemonade.

A Sugar Daddy that is.

Kevin is ready to throw caution to the wind when he meets a mysterious man who offers him the opportunity of a lifetime. A million dollars in exchange for becoming the man’s boy toy and staying with him for one year. Sandro is older, devastatingly handsome, and ready to show Kevin a world of sensual pleasures while lavishing him with luxury.

But Kevin’s new Daddy also has strict rules.

Never leave the island.

Never disobey.

And never enter the forbidden room behind the white door.

What starts as a mutually beneficial arrangement quickly turns into a whirlwind of passion. Secrets become too tempting to resist, and whatever hides behind the white door could be the undoing of all that Kevin loves about his Daddy.

***

“What’s this room?”
Sandro put his hand on Kevin’s nape. “This is a part of the house you’re not allowed in.”
Kevin stared at the white door with his lips parted. “Why, Bluebeard? Hiding all your dead ex-husbands?”
Sandro chuckled. “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
Themes: Daddy kink, secrets, age gap, Sugar Baby/Sugar Daddy, rent boy, spanking, discipline, lingerie kink
Genre: M/M romance with dark elements
Length: ~35,000 words (Standalone novel)
Scorching hot, emotional, explicit scenes

WARNING: This story contains scenes of violence, and morally ambiguous characters.

This was my kind of story! And really with a title like that I knew it would be right up my alley. For those of you who don't know, my thing is kind of Daddy kink.... in a big way.

So yea 3 stars right off the bat for using that very special word.

Ok to the nitty-gritty. I loved this! This novella was kinky, sexy and as character driven as a kinky novella can be. It was also full of my two favourite tropes, morally ambiguous main characters and attempted rape with the hero swooping in to the rescue.

The story really wasn't that surprising and it was pretty simple in its execution but that was perfect for a novella. I'll definitely reread this when I'm after something quick, fun and sexy.

Recommended for anyone and everyone who enjoys any of the things I mentioned in this review!

A review copy was provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

EXCERPT
I locked myself in my house and went to take care of emails and study my itinerary. I could retire, but what would I do with myself? At least work kept me busy. It distracted me from the loneliness. I worked because I had nothing left.
I took a seat at my drafting table as I worked on the new design for my client. His steel monstrosity would clash with everything around the building. It was a showpiece that had no more value than broadcasting his wealth. Once again, my brain went back to wondering if it was time to retire, maybe working for myself, but I felt I was too old to start over. All I felt was doubt and insecurity.

When I was younger, I’d felt confident and fearless. Every day was ripe with possibility, and now I weighed everything by what was expected of me. I felt as if my life was over with; I wasn’t even fifty and hopelessness weighted me down. When I looked in the mirror, I could only see what I was and not what I could be. That, out of all the recent events, was the hardest reality to accept. I viewed myself through a skewed lens Lawrence had shaped.

My fantasies were still a cause of shame just as they were for the past thirty years. I’d forbidden myself from demanding what I wanted because what would people think when they knew the real me. The person who existed beneath the façade. The respectable architect in a small suburb who was just a shadow of his former self.

I was a middle-aged man with silver-streaked hair and a belly, who dreamed of the impossible. I tossed my pencil aside and got up. My mind wasn’t in it, so a shower and early to bed. Tomorrow was a new day.

Those bright blue eyes focused on me, and I felt exposed under his intense stare. I wondered if I’d doubled my anxiety meds because something was off with me today.

“No, I had a late lunch. I think I’m going to head home. I leave for a business trip in a few days. There’s a lot to do before I head for the airport.”

“You’ll give me your number so I can check on you while you’re gone.”

Even though the demand was clear in his voice, I wanted to say no. Yet, I also wanted to obey. My ex hadn’t bothered checking on me while I was away on business. Maybe every few days I’d called him to say goodnight. Check in to see if everything was good at home, but I’d never felt compelled to contact him because I knew it probably wouldn’t have mattered to him. He wasn’t interested in my company, and I’d comprehended it too late. I realized I was staring at Bern, and he raised his brow as if expecting an answer.

“That’s not necessary, I’ve been—”

“I don’t think I asked if it was necessary.”

I frowned at his tone and how his voice was even deeper, which I felt should be impossible. It was commanding and comforting but not the same tone he’d used with Murray. It was hard and unyielding. An order pure and simple. I didn’t like conflict, so I felt my only option was to agree.

“Um, okay.”

“Good boy. You’ll be here for dinner tomorrow night. Six o’clock.”

Mama's Boy
by
K.A. Merikan

Mike had the worst day. The boss had been a piece of shit and made him stay overtime without warning, then a pigeon stole half of his sandwich during lunch. And on top of that, his coworkers had been taking tea breaks every half an hour since the boss left to deal with another construction site, when all Mike wanted was to do the job and move on to something else.

He really needed a smoke. The problem was, his Momma hated the smell. He was relieved not to spot their other car in the driveway. Out in the countryside, Momma could have only gone to visit their nearest neighbors without it, which meant he’d have a bit of time to pump some tasty tobacco tar into his lungs and take a bath before Momma came home.

Though he’d be lying if he said he didn’t like his Momma so strict.

When he walked out into the garden at the back of their house, he kinda wished Momma was there to punish him for smoking and relieve the tension of this fucking day. Mike could almost hear her--

“Michael Thomas Preston, put that out right this moment!” Momma yelled at Mike from the side. She stood in the open doorway in her typical home outfit consisting of a fifties-style flared skirt worn over petticoats, white blouse with a stuffed bra underneath, and a kitten-print apron. Knowing that a big dick was hidden under all that fabric never failed to give Mike a thrill.

He gasped and dropped the cigarette the moment he heard the honey-like voice. Stepping on it with his heel, he looked up, his heart already beating faster at the sight of the pretty, if angry, pout on his partner’s face. “I thought... where’s the car?”

Momma shook her mid-length blonde locks as she approached in high heels down the narrow path Mike had lined with tiles earlier that year for Momma’s comfort. “So you forgot. We scheduled a checkup two weeks ago. You really thought you could get away with smoking in my garden just because you thought I wasn’t in? You have another thing coming!”

Momma put down the basket of laundry she was carrying and pulled a wooden spatula out of it. “Come over here right now!” She said and stomped his heel over the tiles.

Mike loved and hated that gesture at the same time. Momma wouldn’t just punish him, no, Momma would make Mike take it and apologize as well.

Despite the heat that immediately spread through his body, Mike stepped back, watching his partner’s every move. He barely stifled a groan when Momma tapped the spatula against her palm before curling the long-nailed fingers around the flared top of the tool, as if it were Mike’s cockhead.

“Please, Momma.”

“Shut up and lower your pants. Bend over by the table,” Momma said, pointing the spatula at a wooden picnic table where they sometimes ate.

Mike sighed deeply, but there was no discussion with Momma. What Momma wanted, Momma got. Just like the tiles in the garden that allowed her to walk around in high heels, and the adult-sized crib where Momma sometimes banished Mike to as punishment.

So Mike stood with his back to Momma, and despite being much bigger than his partner, Mike obediently opened his belt, pulled down the zipper, and pushed his pants low enough to show Momma his naked ass.

“I hope you feel ashamed of what you’ve done,” Momma said, briefly touching Mike’s ass with the spatula. The contact made Mike’s entire body stiffen, anticipating pain already.

It made his dick so hard.

The first few times Momma only tapped Mike’s skin, as if she wanted to tease and raise the tension before the actual spanking. Momma wasn’t muscular, but she sure knew how to cause pain. The clothes pegs with which Momma hung laundry had another use all too often.

“I said you should feel ashamed, Mike!” The harsh slap came right when Momma said his name.

A deep shudder went through Mike’s body, and he grabbed the sides of the table, stifling a cry. Their neighbors lived far enough, but he didn’t want to alert them nevertheless.

“You’re too harsh, Momma!”

“No! It’s you who is trying to break my rules, and break my heart in the process, naughty boy.”

The smacks rained down on Mike’s ass, and the first ones weren’t all that bad, but Mike knew this tool all too well. Once the spatula fell on spots that have been previously hit, the pain reached a new level.

Within minutes, he was physically unable to keep still and rocked his hips, uselessly trying to escape the harsh torture that once had actually finished only with the spatula breaking against his ass.

But not this time. This time it was Momma who decided how many hits were enough. She stepped back, and Mike stretched, presenting the muscles on his back. He was being watched, and it turned him on so much his dick twitched.

“Are you sorry now?” Momma asked, and Mike hastily nodded. Momma sighed deeply and put away the spatula. “Good, give Momma a hug then. You know I hate to punish you, right? But it’s for your own good.”

Mike felt so stiff he struggled to stand upright again, but in the end he turned around to face Momma and stepped toward her with his pants pooling at his ankles and his stiff dick on show. Momma accepted a kiss on the cheek and patted Mike’s shoulder when she pulled him into her arms.

“That’s a good boy. Show Momma just how sorry you are.”

Mike took a deep breath, and with his ass still throbbing, he kneeled in front of Momma, already eager to get his lips around Momma’s dick.

“I’m so, so, so very sorry, Momma,” he whispered as he dove his head under the petticoats.

GIVEAWAY + Blog Tour: By His Rules by J.A. Rock

J.A.'s here today to talk about the re-release of By His Rules!

Hi! I’m J.A. Rock, and I’m touring the internet to celebrate the re-release of By His Rules, my first published romance novel. Leave a comment with your contact info in the comments section to win a copy of the new version of By His Rules and a $10 Amazon gift card.

About By His Rules
Aiden Cole can be anything men want—naughty schoolboy, palace slave, virgin twink, or slutty secretary. He's a gifted actor with a gorgeous body who gives legendary head. Aiden could have his pick of any Top in the local leather bar, but is drawn to Scott Runge—a cruel, sexy Dom who pushes Aiden to his limits, allowing Aiden to experience the excitement and danger of the BDSM lifestyle to a degree he never has before. But when Scott goes too far, injuring Aiden, Aiden withdraws from the scene completely. Until he meets Keaton Hughes.

Keaton's looking for something he can't find in any dungeon: A domestic discipline relationship, in which he can provide his partner with guidance, support, and loving discipline. When Keaton takes Aiden in after Aiden's traumatic encounter with Scott, he vows not to pursue any sort of relationship with the troubled sub. But as Aiden struggles to overcome the damage Scott has done and get his life back on track, Keaton's rules might be just what he needs.

What’s New in By His Rules?
For By His Rules’s re-release, I did a good bit of rewriting. I had a lot of fun revisiting and this story, and hopefully was able to give it some new layers. So what can you expect from version 2.0?
It’s Longer.
By about 15,000 words. The overall structure of the story is still intact, but I expanded some scenes and explored the characters’ concerns and struggles regarding their DD relationship in more depth.
And yes, some of the scenes I expanded were sex scenes.
More Character Backstory.
We get more on Keaton’s past, and a bit more on why Aiden’s floundering in the wake of college graduation. I think now it’s less of a story about how one man helps another heal, and more about how each man helps the other grow and move forward.
A New Cover.
I loved the original BHR cover by April Martinez. So much. It was hard to say goodbye to it, but since I had to do new cover art, I decided to give this edition a cover that’s less dark, and more specific both to the characters’ lifestyle and to the domesticity of the bulk of the story.
Updated Technology.
All right, fine, I understand that smartphones were a thing in 2011 when I wrote BHR—but I didn’t get one until last year. And I think my characters reflected my former belief that flip phones are all you need in life. I have since seen the error of my ways, both as a human and as a writer, and now Aiden (and I) carry modern phones that let us do things like check our email and play QuizUp.

I hope you enjoy the new version!
