Review: Hesitant Heart by Morticia Knight

Sam is a naïve young man who arrives in Hollywood to escape his brutal father. When the older, sophisticated Aaron rescues him, Sam discovers what it means to fully surrender himself to another.

Eighteen year-old Sam Cunningham is used to living with lots of secrets. He’s had to hide his true nature his entire life or else incur the wrath of his strict and abusive father. When he’s faced with a horrible ultimatum, he flees to Hollywood where he hopes he can escape the fate his father has planned for him.

Aaron Rubenstein is a wealthy and sophisticated man who loses himself in painting portraits of bound men to help stave off his loneliness and despair. Unable to find a lasting connection with anyone, he’s had to resort to paying lovers not only for their affections, but to be allowed to indulge in his darker passions. Aaron’s only respite is his nights at the Hampton Road sadomasochism club where he’s a respected Dominant.

Naïve and inexperienced in the ways men can please one another, Sam takes a job at a bathhouse where he first glimpses a beautiful older man. Aaron notices the sweet towel boy watching him with interest every time he patronizes the Temple of Eros bathhouse. A traumatic incident for the innocent towel boy triggers Aaron’s protective tendencies and he’s compelled to rescue the gentle Sam from the clutches of the Temple’s manager.

They embark on a journey together that teaches them both things about themselves that they never knew. As their bond deepens and Sam is trained for his first night at the Hampton Road Club, an unknown danger lurks. Will Sam’s father find him and destroy both men’s chance for true happiness together? Or will Aaron protect his boy and keep him for always?

Reader advisory: This book is best read in sequence as part of a series.

D'aw. Well, wasn't Sam just the sweetest little subby boy ever, or what? I could totally take him home with me. Yup, I'd definitely be OK with that.

Sam ran away from his family and is now working at a bath house. It's a pretty scummy place, but he needs the work since he's on his own. Since he's been working there he's had his eye on Aaron. Hot, alpha Aaron.  Circumstances happen and Sam (finally) ends up meeting his dream guy.

They have instant attraction towards each other. They both want it, but Aaron is worried about his certain, ahem, needs in the bedroom. How would this sweet boy react if he knew that Aaron wanted to spank his pretty ass and put a collar around his neck? I mean, really. Heh. Heh heh. Needless to say, the idea perked Sam up real quick-like.

Sam discovers so much about himself with Aaron. I love how Aaron supported Sam and didn't just keep him all to himself cooped up in the house. Aaron encouraged Sam to do the things he loved. Not only did he learn about himself out in the world, but in the bedroom as well. Oh, yes. Aaron opened Sam's eyes to a whole new world he had no idea existed, let alone that he needed it.

Yes, they had some hot lovin'. Sam needed some structure in his life. He needed to feel secure and Aaron so gave it to him. Toys & cock rings & collars & spankings! Yum.

Neither Aaron or Sam thought they could find someone they could be with and truly be happy. I think they both had resigned to the fact that they would live mediocre lives without someone to really share it with. They really had great chemistry and worked well together. They naturally slipped into the Dom/sub roles effortlessly. There wasn't anything forced about their relationship, everything just fell into place for them like it was meant to be.

The blurb mentions series?! *squee* I can't wait to find out what's next in this new, sexy series!
