Fanfic Funday Review: Knot the Average Alpha by blacktofade

Stiles’ favourite porn star, Derek Hale, moves into his apartment block and there are inappropriate facial jokes, broken bones, and a staggering amount of threats in a tiny elevator.

Knot the Average Alpha shall henceforth be known as the book that popped my Sterek cherry. I held on to it as long as I could but there were a couple unicorns in the ole clubhouse getting downright aggressive in their efforts. I mean, I don't wanna say my cherry was highly sought out but…

I admit to possibly playing a bit hard to get. Read stubborn. Anyhoo, they recommended this one and it was a nice little read. I'm still a bit baffled by the crack-like effect Sterek has on some of my people, but it is what it is. At any rate, I drank the Kool-Aid.

It's been a few hours and I don't feel any odd, inexplicable compulsions, though I have no idea what the Sterek half-life is. I could still be fucked. I'll get back to you.

The best word I can come up with to describe this ficlit is cutesy.

Yeah. That.

I had to look up who was who, so I'm learning the terms on the fly here, but Derek is a porn star that has been the subject of an untold number of wank sessions of Stiles'. So when he sidles up next to him at the local bar Stiles has an acute onset of foot-in-mouth-disease. It can strike at any time and is not discriminating in its victims. Treatment is tricky. Eventually these two get down to bidness after much snark in the interim. I enjoyed the snark and the bidness.

"I think I just came my brains out," Stiles admits, the filter between his mind and mouth no longer there now that he's satiated and sleepy."

I was expecting it to be pornier than it was. They actually have something going here. Don't get me wrong there's a healthy mix of filthy goodness, but there is actually some depth to their relationship which took me by surprise. I think it needed more biting, but there was KNOTTING. Can't complain too much.

Thanks to the unicorns for being so persistent. *w*
