Hi, everyone. I’m Quinn Anderson, and I’m here to share some behind-the-scenes facts about my latest release, THE ACADEMY. Stay tuned and comment on stops along the way for a chance to win a $10 Riptide gift card.

About The Academy
True love stabs you in the front.
Nick Steele just wants a normal life, cliché or not. He had one once, back in Chicago. Before his father died and he took a year off from college to grieve. Now, he’s starting fresh at a prestigious—but tiny—Catholic university. Adjusting to small-town life will be a challenge, along with making friends and keeping his scholarship. All he wants to do is blend in, get his diploma, and go back home.
But Sebastian Prinsen—campus heartthrob and a notorious player—has other plans. He notices Nick right away and makes a bet with his two best friends: Who can kiss the new kid first? Nick seems immune to Sebastian’s charms, and yet genuine chemistry sparks between them. Even worse, real feelings do too. Sebastian falls more and more every time Nick blows him off, but if he comes clean about the bet, Nick will hate him forever.
The last thing Nick wants is to fall in love while he’s still grieving, but Sebastian feels like home to him. Nick wants that so badly he may ignore the warning signs and risk his fragile heart once more.

About Quinn Anderson
Quinn Anderson is an alumna of the University of Dublin in Ireland and has a master’s degree in psychology. She wrote her dissertation on sexuality in popular literature and continues to explore evolving themes in erotica in her professional life.
A nerd extraordinaire, she was raised on an unhealthy diet of video games, anime, pop culture, and comics from infancy. Her girlfriend swears her sense of humor is just one big Buffy reference. She stays true to her nerd roots in writing and in life, and frequently draws inspiration from her many fandoms, which include Yuri on Ice, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Buffy, and more. Growing up, while most of her friends were fighting evil by moonlight, Anderson was kamehameha-ing her way through all the shounen anime she could get her hands on. You will often find her interacting with fellow fans online and offline via conventions and Tumblr, and she is happy to talk about anything from nerd life to writing tips. She has attended conventions on three separate continents and now considers herself a career geek. She advises anyone who attends pop culture events in the UK to watch out for Weeping Angels, as they are everywhere. If you’re at an event, and you see a 6’2” redhead wandering around with a vague look on her face, that’s probably her.
Her favorite authors include J.K. Rowling, Gail Carson Levine, Libba Bray, and Tamora Pierce. When she’s not writing, she enjoys traveling, cooking, spending too much time on the internet, playing fetch with her cat, screwing the rules, watching Markiplier play games she’s too scared to play herself, and catching ’em all.

About The Long Way Around
Sam Cooper is the definition of an introvert: shy, bookish, and the sort to think a wild Friday night involves ordering takeout. He enjoys his quiet life, but after a bad breakup, he’s been yearning for a change of scenery. Luckily, his best friend and former college roommate has the solution.

Wesley Reed—a jokester and expert Sam-handler—proposes an epic road trip to a wedding across the country. They’re both between jobs and boyfriends. Why not hit the open road and make some memories?

Stuck in close quarters for the first time since their dorm days, they’re both surprised at the heat that springs up between them. As best friends, they’ve shared so much over the years, so why does sharing a hotel room—and occasionally a bed—make them want more? Chemistry this smoldering is hard to ignore, but there are road blocks to their romance. Wesley’s keeping a secret, and Sam can’t rely on Wesley to drag him out of his comfort zone forever. If they’re not careful, their relationship may take the ultimate wrong turn.

Nerdy, risk-averse Chance is waiting for Kit to give him a sign, whereas Kit’s too afraid of being out in his professional life to date the cutie from IT. If only one of them could find the proper motivation, their shaky flirtation could become something real.

Then an earthquake rocks their city. They band together to help others escape, until an aftershock leaves them trapped in a collapsing office building with little hope of survival. The very earthquake that brought them together could also tear them apart.

Review: All of the Above by Quinn Anderson

Brendon isn’t in a rut, per se—he just always seems to be in-between things. Jobs. Degrees. Boyfriends. He never finishes what he starts. The perfect path is out there somewhere, and if he can just figure out what it is, he’s certain everything else will fall into place.

The last thing he expects is to meet his soul mate in the pages of a magazine quiz. “Who Is Your Perfect Man?” by Matthew Kingston seems like a road map to his future husband: the author himself. Brendon may not have his life figured out, but if Matt is as romantic as his quiz, Brendon can check “true love” off his to-do list.

When Brendon fakes a meet-cute between them, Matt proves to be as wonderful as he hoped. The more Brendon gets to know him, the harder he falls. But Brendon has a confession to make: how can he explain to Matt that he arranged their “fated” meeting? Brendon can’t tell if he’s found his soul mate, heartache, or all of the above.

5 - This needs to be a Rom Com Movie - Hearts!

Let me start off my declaring myself a hopeless romantic and the ultimate lover of the romantic comedy. There is something about a movie, a story that blends romance with the emotions of unrequited love, comedic timing both planned and unplanned, cringe worthy moments, physical calamities that make the love interest find the other adorable and the simple notion that love conquers all.
I connected with Brendon from the first paragraph of this book as he lamented his job at the mall and all that comes with it. Having worked at the mall, it was spot on from the music to the customers to finding that rhythm in your work regardless of the recoil brought on by the location. Brendon may not love where he works, at the Kiosk named Hairway to Heaven, but the does like that he gets hands on experience doing hair as he is working his way through cosmetology school.
If this were a rom-com, […] but this was real life. There was no script, no team of writers concocting the plot. He could waste hours of his time only to go home empty-handed. And time was one of the many things he couldn’t afford to spare.
When his friend and mall kiosk neighbor Areesh brings him a bag full of magazines Areesh’s wife Sasha cleaned out of her closet, Brendon is ready to flip pages to relinquish his boredom and pass the hours until quitting time. Grabbing a random magazine from the bunch he finds one he’s not familiar with, a local fashion magazine titled Extra. As Brendon gets to the end of the magazine he finds a quiz, “Who Is Your Perfect Man?” and while reading the questions and answering them, he realizes how much he has in common with the man who wrote the quiz and is determined this writer, Matthew Kingston, is HIS perfect man.
I have to say, I get Brendon. I mean, I remember crushing on an actor from a TV show once and doing all the stalking, er, um… research I could back in the late 90’s on him. One article I read led me to believe we were totally mean to be because we both had male Akita’s name Ronan. Sure, mine was spelled Ronan and his was Ronin but what are the odds that he and I would name our exact breed of dog the same name? I mean, it was only the universe trying to tell me he was my soul mate. It was the universe telling me that my shy redheaded self needed to go to the set where he filmed; he would see me across the lot, make eye contact, smile and walk toward me sweeping me up in his arms to deliver an epic kiss while music rushed to a crescendo and then fall head over heels for me. And we would live happily ever after with our matching dogs… Right? *taps mic* Is this thing on?
Anyway. I get Brendon and his belief that him and Matt are soul mates through Matthew’s quiz; seeing that they had so much in common. It was adorable to see Brendon take the test and get all of the answers he wanted but when it came to his result…
His points took him to the Artistic Amor: Your perfect man is creative and fun-loving. […]He probably works in a field that requires thinking outside the box, like advertising, graphic design, or even acting. Or maybe he writes romantic quizzes for a small, local magazine!
GAH! What wit Matthew has with this quiz. My romantic comedy loving heart was ready for Brendon to be head strong and to seek out Matthew. I was so on board with whatever over the top scenario he needed to create for a meet cute and with my romantic comedy knowledge, I knew Brendon needed to do some of his own, research stalking.
Do you see? This book is perfect for a rom com!!!! *spins wildly* This reminds me of my favorite rom coms where a lie leads the couple together. Not the most ideal situation since I am with Matt and lying is the worst thing you could do to me but think of Never Been Kissed, 10 Things I Hate About You, While You Were Sleeping, Made of Honor… my list could go on. But those are my most favorite movies and in them the couple is brought together by a lie, a lie that becomes a truth and a truth that is forgiven. My Yogi Tea told me today, “Practice compassion, forgiveness and kindness” and I believe that those three things bring about a perfect romance that begins well, not so perfect. Did I say how perfect this story is? *winks*
“I don’t want to see you get your hopes up yet again. I think you convince yourself that what you’re looking for is out there, and if you can just find it, everything else will fall into place.”

“But how else are you supposed to meet your soul mate if you don’t get out there and find them?”
Brendon is the type of character that I love. I can see where some might think him flighty or unstable but I see him as young, romantic and adventurous. Brendon believes that when he finds that perfect thing, that perfect someone and finally holds on to it all, his life will fall into place. *sigh* He’s waiting for his life to begin and at his age, weren’t we all? Heck, on some level we are all still waiting for that special part of our life we thought would happen to begin? Brendon gets hung up on ideas when he thinks he founds something perfect and this time the perfect is one Matthew Kingston.
I LOVED how Brendon went about finding all he could on Matt and how he hung out at Matt’s favorite spots hoping to force their meet cute. Yes, he was being a bit stalkerish, but Brendon did like all the places Matt did and had mentioned in the quiz. When they finally have their meet cute, it was adorable as heck! Sure, Brendon planned it in a way, but what happens was pure rom com hilarity that I had to read through my fingers just as I would watch the same scene in a movie hidden because I was embarrassed. It was adorable, it was cute and at the same time it turned my stomach because of the lie.
It occurred to him that waiting for someone at places where they were known to be might very well be considered stalking. Shit. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and googled the definition.
I said before, I am with Matt on lying and I felt terrible for Brendon on their date when it all comes rushing to him what he was doing. I like that Brendon did what was right and not just because he wanted Matt. He comes clean because it’s the right thing to do and doing what’s right brings about a positive change.
Sigh. I am rambling about this aren’t I? I just loved this story and want to wrap myself in its tropey goodness and flip back to page one to read it all over again.
Just like with any good rom com, this has great moments of true emotion, incredible groveling, running away when you want to move forward, honest confessions, calling each other out on their shit, epic romantic gestures and sexy as all get out moments of intimacy. Yeah, this book has it all and if you put a quiz in front of me with multiple choice questions about what I liked, I’d have to say…

“Honestly, all of the above.”

About The Other Five Percent

Logan Vanderveer has a joke he’s been telling since college: he’s ninety-five percent straight. He did some experimenting in school, but none of the men he fooled around with inspired him to abandon “the plan”: meet a nice girl, get married, and settle down, just like his parents always said.

None of them except Ellis Floyd, who aroused desires and feelings that scared Logan. So much so that he abandoned their burgeoning relationship just as it might have become something. But four years later, Ellis is back, and Logan finds himself questioning his sexuality in a big way.

Ellis doesn’t fit into Logan’s plan. He’s happy being a starving artist, whereas Logan has sold his soul to corporate America. Ellis is ripped jeans, and Logan is tailored suits. And, most notably, Ellis is out. But seeing him again is dredging up memories—like how it feels to kiss Ellis, and that time they almost went all the way. With chemistry like theirs, Logan isn’t sure he can—or should—keep ignoring the other five percent.

Review: The Other Five Percent by Quinn Anderson

Ellis doesn’t fit into Logan’s plan. He’s happy being a starving artist, whereas Logan has sold his soul to corporate America. Ellis is ripped jeans, and Logan is tailored suits. And, most notably, Ellis is out. But seeing him again is dredging up memories—like how it feels to kiss Ellis, and that time they almost went all the way. With chemistry like theirs, Logan isn’t sure he can—or should—keep ignoring the other five percent.

Logan and Ellis have history only Logan can't remember all the details. One day at the local Starbucks he hears him and has a visceral reaction then tries to flee. Ellis is having none of that instead offering up a coffee let's get together and catch up date.

As the story unfolds it becomes clear that Logan and Ellis' versions of their shared history are very dissimilar. The human psyche is a strange thing and Anderson illustrated well how people have a tendency to bend the truth where unpleasant memories or cognitive dissonance are concerned. Nevertheless, as much of a flibbertigibbet as Logan is I still found him charming and earnest.

He tells this story and his vision of himself is heterosexual with 2.5 kids, white picket fence, a wife and a dog but Ellis is that 5% that's not completely straight and that scares Logan. Anderson did a great job with this internal struggle, of redefining one's self-image as queer and all that that encompasses.

These characters are well constructed with Ellis being a free-spirited hipster who lives life on his terms, eschewing the corporate path and Logan embracing it along with his beloved briefcase and 9-5 job with benefits. They seem to compliment each other well despite all their differences and they have chemistry. I think I would've appreciated Ellis' perspective though.

What I thought could've been better were the transitions-Logan's transition from wanting to avoid Ellis at all costs to seeking him out, his acceptance of his bisexuality and then pursuing Ellis all of which would've benefited from more exposition and page time; it seemed rushed and I hate to say easy but there's not a lot of angst or really working things out. However it's a sweet romance that reeled me in and I invested in them and their coupltry.

The secondary characters are few but Logan's sisters were a riot and I liked how supportive they were and even helped Logan see what was right in front of his face.

If you're looking for a second chance romance with a sweet HEA give this a try.

Giveaway + Blog Tour: Action (A Murmur Inc. novel) by Quinn Anderson

Quinn Anderson is here today talking character names. She's also promoting her latest, Action, a contemporary MM romance involving PORN STARS!!!

Also be sure to enter the giveaway below. Good Luck!

Picking Character Names

I have trouble coming up with character names. I admit it. I tend to go for the same kind of names all the time, too. For a while, my main characters all had one syllable, four letter names: Zack, John, Pete, Evan, Kyle, and so on. I needed some variety, so naturally I turned to lists of popular baby names, but for some added fun, I also used Facebook.

Whenever I need a name, I post on Facebook saying, “the first person to comment on this gets a character named after them!” and whoever is the fastest wins! Not a bad way to get immortalized in print, right? And my followers always have a lot of fun in the comments, whether they were first or not. Some have even told me they set their preferences so that my statuses show up first, so they can snatch a spot before it’s gone, ha ha.

That’s a good reason to follow my Facebook author page, if you like! You could end up in one of my novels. 😊

Thanks for reading, and good luck in the giveaway!

Hello, everyone! This is Quinn Anderson, author of the Murmur Inc. series, and I’m here to share some inside information about Action, coming out June 5th. Stay tuned to get an inside look at what filming porn is really like, hear fun facts about this novel, and find out what’s next for the Murmur Inc. series. Leave comments on the tour posts for a chance to win a $10 Riptide Publishing gift card!

About Action

Pete Griflow is the last person anyone would suspect of being a porn star. He’s quiet, gawky, and can’t even talk to guys without turning red. But on camera, he’s a different person. In the porn world, he’s Jaden Prime, a coquettish power bottom who’s been tantalizing fans for over a year now.

Pete is in a rut, though, and he knows it. And what’s worse, his boss knows it. If he can’t reignite his passion for the biz, he’s going to have trouble paying his none-too-cheap college tuition.

When Pete is given the opportunity to star in a huge summer production, sparks fly between him and his costar, Kyle Darko. Kyle is Pete’s opposite: he’s daring, achingly sexy, and in love with the sex industry. Their chemistry is palpable on and off screen, but dating on a porn set is tricky. Even pros struggle to separate fantasy from reality, especially with a script dictating their seduction. But what’s building between them can’t be ignored, and it’s so much more than getting some “action.”

Now available from Riptide Publishing. https://riptidepublishing.com/titles/action
