Averaged!

For the dudes and dudettes who like it extremely dark and kinky!
Twisted folks step right on up!

In His Skin - 4 Hearts

A mute submissive is given the world by his Master, but it comes with a price.

Warning: do not enter if you can't handle pain play, blood play, sharing amongst partners and piercing certain sensitive parts.

Dylan yearns to please his master Harrison. He tries his hardest to follow his rules and be the best that he can be. But he yearns for something...the sea.

Dylan doesn't have to cook or clean. All he has to do is please Harrison, obviously in the bedroom. Though he never utters a word throughout the story, Dylan's thoughts and emotions were very present. The story is slightly mysterious as well as erotic. Who Dylan is and how he came to be with Harrison is the leading the question that pulled me into the story.

I'm not one for pain play, so not on #TeamPain. (#Team Lube represent!) But the verbal humiliation helped ease my squickiness. And when  Harrison and Dylan are alone together, the trademark Caspian possessiveness came tot he forefront, where hot breaths and threats are prevalent.

"Did your hole get enough tonight? Oh, no, wait, it didn't because I haven't fucked you yet. Only me, you hear me? It's only me who gets to have you."

That I liked. I figured out the mystery close to the end. The writing read poetic and a little somber at times. But I was super happy with the concept. It's my kind of paranormal.

At the end, Dylan prioritized what he needed the most. I'd like to think was a HEA.

Please heed the warnings before trying.

Asking For It - 5 Hearts

CHEESUS AND CRACKERS! THIS IS LIKE IT WAS WRITTEN FOR ME!

7+k words - I kid you not, I have about half of this story highlighted.
"Bet you want it all the time, don't you, a boy like you? I'll have to visit you at work on your lunch break, gag you and tie your hands in the men's room, turn you around in a stall and fuck you 'til you're crying, then make you go back to your afternoon meeting with my seed dripping out of you."

All my favorites words came to play: cockslut, cunt, fuckboy!

Pornupcopia jackpot! Filth! Smut at its finest!

Cole needs. He needs bad. The 22 year old has been a good boy. He's repressed at work, doesn't try to explore the kink, the need in him. And when he tries to finally do something about it with a date with a Daddy type from online, he doesn't meet with much success.

Or does he?
"Your eyes are hungry, did you know that?"
Bar owner and bartender Garrett sees everything that night. And answers the body call Cole has going on.

"But you still need, don't you? It's okay boy. You've found me now."

Semi-public sex, humiliation dirty talk, possessive alpha Dom...I just don't where to begin on the high points.

The thrill Cole feels, the slight, miniscule dub-con feel to it all...oh the words.

If only that pool table could talk.
"I can't wait to fuck you raw, watch you push my cum out, see it dripping out of your hole."
Cole gets shown, owned and is so satisfied by Garret, any reservation has flew the coop.

And I imagine a very cum filled happy ending. From random hookup to lasting D/s relationship...

Aces in my book! ;)
Re-read worthy for sure!

A Song in the Blood - 4.5 Hearts

Where a masochist with a penchant for blood play finally meets his match.

Here's the thing. I started this a little confuzzled.

Then as I read along I realized this was “It is Our Bounden Duty To Protect The Empire”. (Love this new title BTW) and the tags helped make it clearer.

The tags: gun play, extreme violence, paranormal, power exchange, HEA, historical setting, Kiwi MC, extreme violence. All acts are consensual by the way.

Set after the turn of the 20th century, Corran McKenzie is a Kiwi soldier slowly dying in the African desert. He's picked up a friend by the name of Sephtis. And Sephtis watches and goads the young man as his will to live keeps him going.

Now if you look up the name Sephtis, you'll see exactly who Septhis is. Or I should say what he represents. Clever, clever, author. (It's a reason why I rated so high) We get a case study of Corran's life and the start of when he craved real pain and couldn't have his needs fulfilled.
"Your want is delicious."
All he needs is to make it hurt, to bleed.

Sephtis scratches that unfathomable itch. The story starts in 1902 and carries on into present day. There are erotic moments and scenes...like this:

Add that to the mindfuckery and it's a hot little number.
"Did you know your soul hungers? No wonder I heard you all the way out here in the middle of nowhere."
It reminded me of Deckard's "Better The Devil You Know", which had similar depravity, a witty entity and crisp writing.

Recommended for readers who can actually handle the tags, DMC and those who like extreme dark mixed in with their kink.

Have your fans ready cuz it's about to get hot up in herra! Y'hear?

Page 182: Gifts for Him

“I guess we don’t have long.”

“Guess not.”

Andrew pushed Mike into the hardwood chair and yanked his shirt open, leaving his tie askew. The buttons pinged on the hardwood floor. He stripped off his own shirt and catapulted it over the dining table towards the softbox.

Mike groaned as Andrew knelt between his legs and sucked him down with spit-slicked lips. “Oh, shit. You are amazing at this.”

“Been wanting this since the first moment I saw you.” Andrew dragged the front of his briefs down and pulled out his cock.

“Christ, you’re huge.”

Andrew’s hard cock was like a club, the head impossibly thick. Mike whined with need and helplessly clenched his empty hands.

Andrew lapped at Mike’s slit as he fisted his cock. A drop of clear precum trembled on the head of Andrew’s dick, then drizzled to the floor.

Andrew scooped up a finger full of saliva from Mike’s balls and brushed across Mike’s crack. Mike shivered. Oh, fuck, how he wanted it. Wanted it to burn. Wanted to feel it for days.

“I’ve got lube in my bag. Stay after we’re done? Looks like that hole of yours needs a good hard fucking.”

“I can’t,” gasped Mike. “I fly out in an hour.”

“You don’t live here?”

Mike shook his head. “Duluth. I only come down when the agency has a job for me. I don’t know when that’ll be next.”

“I can’t wait till next time. Hold yourself open for me, baby. You want to be filled, and I know how to give you what you need.”

The door flew open. The camerawoman froze in the doorway, the extra key light in her hand.

“Oh my God, we left you alone for literally five minutes,” cried the director. “It’s lucky those shirts are permapress. Stop sucking his dick and get your clothes on. We’ve got to be out of the studio by six.”

“Although . . ..” The camerawoman looked thoughtfully at the director  “I mean, you can see the socks pretty damn well. We could just . . . go with it? Try another direction this year?”

The director gazed at Mike and Andrew assessingly as she tapped her index finger against her chin. “Do you think Middle America is ready for a department store Christmas Gift Guide with full penetration?”

Mike and Andrew looked at each other.

“Definitely,” they said in unison.

About M. Caspian

Hi, I’m Em, and I write queer horror and speculative fiction as M. Caspian, and in a few other genres under different pen names. I’m an introvert asexual Gen-X nerd from New Zealand, and yes, I have one of those weird accents. I’ve got a couple of other author blogs for marketing, but this is my main blog i.e. the place where I drabble on about shit I like, or which makes me thoughtful.

I have a PhD in feminist critical theory, which makes me pretty much unemployable. I lost my job as a university lecturer in 2012, and then my next job as a social science researcher in 2016. Follow my blog so we can share in the excitement of what job I will lose next!

There are no affiliate links on my blog. If I link to or recommend a product or book I’m not making a cent from it, promise.

The Unicorns thank M. for helping us celebrate. Be sure to tell her what you thought of her hot flash inducing fic in the comments!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Fallout by KRAKENRY!!!!!!!

When I was first saw this pairing had teamed up I had a rather embarrassing reaction...

They delivered. Everything I wanted and then some.

And now they want to give you stuff!!!!!!

Talented AND generous?!?!?

Hi! We’re Lisa Henry and M. Caspian, the authors of FALLOUT. We’re touring the web talking about our influences, our processes, anything we can think about actually, and even giving you guys a sneak peek or two! And what would a blog tour be without a contest? Check out the details at the bottom of the post to see what you can win!

Today M. Caspian talks about volcanos and renewal:

I have one recurring nightmare. In a literal version of The Floor Is Lava, a volcano erupts under my house and I have to leap between patches of broken cement to avoid being vaporized by molten rock at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. So naturally I co-wrote a book about a volcanic eruption. And the thing is, everything about volcanoes and their effects in FALLOUT is accurate.

My subconscious is haunted by the 2,000 feet of lava in the Western Ghats mountains in India, from an eruption that lasted 30,000 years. True, there is no lava in FALLOUT. There doesn’t have to be. Your basic pyroclastic blast will send ash and pulverized rock 10,000 miles into the atmosphere at 100,000 tonnes per second. When Mount Pinatubo blew in 1991 it lowered global temperatures by a degree Fahrenheit for two years.

And a supervolcano? Well, that will basically ruin your day for the forseeable future, or 10,000 years, whichever comes last. (Today’s trivia: volcanologists don’t call them supervolcanos. Instead they’re called Massive Explosive Eruptions, or Igneous Provinces. Clearly, volcanologists are doofuses.)
But the thing is, no matter how bad the damage is from a volcano; life finds a way (wait, let me say that while drinking from my Jeff Goldblum coffee mug).

As a child, Lisa knew the lush, tropical city of Rabaul, Papua New Guinea well. In 1994 Rabaul was buried under so much volcanic ash that it’s still just a big grey blank on Google Earth. But right now there are lichens, and tiny seeds, and birds, and insects, and hardy grasses, and mosses encroaching on the volcano, and one day it will be a rich tropical jungle again . . . until the next time.

Those Western Ghats in India? They now have 7,400 types of flowers, 508 kinds of birds, and 288 species of freshwater fish. Volcanic soil is really fertile. There’s a reason why people grow crops right on the slopes of Mount Etna. Some farmers in New Zealand cut sections of pasture and flip them over to bring 5,000-year-old volcanic soils to the surface, for better pasture growth. We have volcanic carbon dioxide to thank for Earth not being a frozen snowball harboring nothing more than cyanobacteria.

Volcanos renew. They replenish. They bring hidden treasures -- minerals and metals and gems -- up from the depths. That transformation comes at a horrible cost, but from even the worst disaster, there’s always a backhanded gift; a revitalization. A chance for something new to grow.

And that’s what FALLOUT’s about. You should read it.

Review: Fallout by Lisa Henry & M. Caspian

"If we want to survive, we adapt."

I have a confession to make. I'm a blurb skimmer. I try to read them. I really do, but under certain conditions I tend to lapse. This was one of those times. My blurb skim for this went a little something like:  "blah, blah, blah, two dudes who've known each other for a long time, yada, yada KRAKENRY!!!!!!!!" during which there was much squealing, squeeing and, if I'm totally honest, an approximation of a jig.

Do not let this happen to you.

Fallout is not a romance. It's a fascinating look at human nature and its capacity for both good and evil during a catastrophe with the central characters being an established gay couple who are in a low point in their relationship. They go on a hiking vacation back to their home town in an effort to rekindle their relationship. And all hell breaks loose.

The first chapter hooked me and I initially thought Fallout was going to delve into the difficulties of sustaining a relationship after the honeymoon's over and life has dealt them some hard knocks. Then chapter two happened. If you're familiar with these two authors, it should come as no surprise that they are comfortable and even revel in darkness. If you're squeamish, I wouldn't recommend this. There is on page rape and torture.

Now that I've gotten all the warnings out of the way I'm going to gush. I think the cat's out of the bag regarding my feels on these two authors, but they hit it out of the park here. I do hope they collaborate again because this felt like something special. For as dark as it can be it has pockets of beauty that left me a little verklempt, a feat in and of itself. They manipulated the English language to their will, wielded it with artistry in both the characterizations and the narrative which drew me in like a tractor beam then threw me around like a piñata at a party of seven year olds jacked up on cake and Mt. Dew.

Fallout kept me on the edge of my seat. I don't mind saying at one point I had serious concerns one of the MCs wasn't going to make it. But the level of research they must've done to build this world is what made this stunning. Jack is working on a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and they get stuck on vacation during a freak volcanic ash fallout. Bas has a spinal injury that requires frequent monitoring and treatment. They folded in legitimate environmental concerns through the underbelly of this story which appealed to me as an environmentalist and illustrated the challenges of mundane daily activities by someone who has suffered a spinal injury. They gave them both depth by focusing on the details of what makes each of these men tick.

Bas and Jack spend the majority of Fallout apart after being separated shortly after the fallout begins. Their faith in their ability to survive is repeatedly tested and they both find themselves thrust into situations they never could have imagined. They discover truths about themselves, encounter atrocities and meet some extraordinary people. The genius, for me, was the plausibility of the catastrophe and, by extension, human nature under extreme conditions.

How does one reconcile actions committed under extraordinary circumstances with their self-schema in the aftermath?

He needed to know that Jack still wanted to touch him. He needed that to be the only thing that had never changed, and would never change.

It's a dark roller coaster of emotions but it's also, paradoxically, beautiful. If the warning tags don't scare you, you will be rewarded by what KRAKENRY have accomplished.
