Synopsis

Hale Anderson

The Air Weaver.

He was the freaking Air Weaver. Not exactly what he expected when he got kidnapped by the pestilents, but Hale’s good rolling with the punches.

He can take a little time away from his pursuit of a doctorate in astrophysics to save the world.

Except that the final spell is poised to kill all the Weavers and their last hope lies with him finding his soul mate.

Hale doesn’t want a soul mate. He just wants Harrison.

Harrison William Davenport III

As the Keeper of the Heart of the Earth, Harrison must bring the final key to the Weavers if they’re to stop the pestilents.

He’s trained for this task his entire life. And he’s prepared to die just like his father did with the last generation of the Weavers.

But what if saving the world isn’t enough anymore?

What if the only thing that matters is saving Hale?

Storm Warrior is the final book in The Weavers Circle series. It includes fast-paced action, a dangerous cross-country roadtrip, dirty fun in tents, flying, bi-awakening sexy times, animal shenanigans, nerdy talk about the stars, jealousy, three crazy old ladies, magic, and a fight to save the world!

Excerpt

Bullets whizzed through the air closer to him with two shots digging into a column not far from his head. He whipped the gun around to spot where two pestilents were running toward him with guns drawn. Hale gasped and backpedaled. He squeezed the trigger, but nothing happened. Shit. The safety.

He fumbled with the little switch, but it was the pounding of feet racing his way from the other end of the porch that caught his attention. A tall man in a suit with raven-black hair and a stern expression was racing to him. Wow. Gorgeous. He was simply gorgeous.

So gorgeous in fact, that it took Hale an extra second to realize the man had a gun in each hand.

Fuck! He was only starting to swing the gun toward the man when he fired off several shots right past Hale. The Air Weaver spun to see the bullets hit their marks in three pestilents, killing them instantly.

The stranger saved him. What the—

“What are you doing out here if you don’t know how to protect yourself?” the gorgeous man shouted.

Hale took a breath to say something, but he wasn’t quite sure what. His brain wasn’t working, and his tongue was all tied up. He was overwhelmed. He generally wasn’t the type of person who got overwhelmed, but that described him in the middle of the bloody chaos.

Which was probably why it was so easy for the man to holster one of the guns, grab his wrist, and pull him back into the house.

Hale stumbled after him, trying to get his brain to process the events happening. The man turned toward the left but only glanced in the dining room before sneering at something and moving to the right. He made the same face when he peered into the library.

“Too many damn windows.” Twisting to face Hale, he jerked his arm as if trying to get his attention, but the stranger had all of Hale’s available brain capacity at this point. “What room doesn’t have a lot of doors or windows?”

Well, there was the downstairs half bath that had no windows, but there was no way he was getting shoved into that room, with or without the sexy man.

“The-the armory has no windows and only two doors,” he stammered at first, but finished, proud that he’d clearly remembered the room.

The stranger blinked, seeming surprised to hear the house had an honest-to-goddess armory, but he recovered fast enough. “Good. Take me there.”

Hale hesitated and sniffed the air. “You’re not a pestilent.”

The man gasped, looking appropriately horrified. “Of course not!” Well, that was a plus for him. Not only was he human, but he also knew what a pestilent was.

“Then who the hell are you?” Hale had already met all the Weavers, mates, and goddesses. He couldn’t even begin to guess who this handsome yet scary person was.

“A friend of the Weavers. The goddesses sent for me. Now, the armory? Where is it?”

Oh! That was much better. The guys had never mentioned the goddesses sending in more help, but they certainly needed it.

Hale took the lead, hurrying down the hall toward the armory. There was one main entrance to the room and a set of narrow French doors that connected to the front porch. That made the space much easier to protect.

The man’s quick dark eyes darted across the long table filled with weapons. He released Hale only when he had his back shoved against a bookcase in the far corner that gave him a good view of both doors. The man then moved to the French doors and peered out between the thin white curtains.

“Which of them are you?” the man inquired.

“Hale. Hale Anderson. I just arrived. I’m the Air Weaver.”

The stranger’s head slowly turned toward Hale. His eyes were wide, and his face had become incredibly pale. The bloodbath outside had not disturbed him, but something about what Hale had said had clearly shaken him.

“It’s true,” he whispered. “The Weavers Circle is finally complete.”

Synopsis

Lucien Cummings

The pestilents are trying to kill him.

He’s pretty sure the Water Weaver wants to kill him as well.

But after two months of fighting an attraction for a man who couldn’t possibly be his mate, Lucien cracks when he’s pulled into an impulsive threesome with Calder and a sexy man they picked up in a bar.

That night was earth shattering.

And now he needs to figure out how to keep both men safe and his.

Calder Saito

Calder doesn’t want to fight his attraction for the Fire Weaver any longer, but they can’t really be soul mates, right?

And what about Gio? The sexy man gives him such a feeling of completeness and peace.

Could one man really have two soul mates?

Gio Russo

Can’t he just have them both?

Tangled Warriors is the fourth book in the Weavers Circle series. This MMM paranormal romance includes fast-paced action, running through Savannah, secrets, shapeshifting, kidnapping, deadly Girl Scouts, sexy times, insecurity, three crazy old ladies, soul mates, and magic!

Excerpt

“Shots!” Gio suddenly proclaimed. “I think we could all use a round of shots. What do you say?” He looked up at Lucien and smiled. “Join me in a round of shots. Break the ice.”

“Nothing feels icy to me,” Lucien murmured, while the fingers on Calder’s waist tightened.

He suddenly felt bad. He was intruding like an annoying little brother. Yes, his intention had been to stop Lucien from hitting on this guy, but now that he was standing there, he felt how wrong it was. What Lucien did and who he slept with was none of his business. He was supposed to be working on getting rid of the bad blood between him and Lucien, not making matters worse.

“None for me,” Calder said softly. “I’ll grab the drinks and get out of your way.”

Gio surprised him by cupping the side of his face with a warm calloused hand. “Oh no, sweetness. We don’t want you going anywhere. You’ve got to stay.” Gio looked over Calder’s shoulder at Lucien. “We want him to stay, right?”

Calder tensed, waiting for the rejection, but Lucien shocked him even more by pulling him in tighter so that he could feel Lucien’s groin against the small of his back. Those long fingers slipped down from his waist to caress his hip bone, sending the most delicious tingles all over his body. “Stay. Have a shot with us,” Lucian pressed. His voice was warm and so very tempting. Calder couldn’t remember ever hearing Lucien talk to him like that. He wanted to live in that voice. Just curl up in it like a warm, handmade quilt.

Releasing him, Gio turned to the bartender as she delivered Lucien’s and Calder’s mix of drinks and ordered a round of shots. Calder didn’t hear what he’d ordered exactly because Gio had also slotted himself better against Calder, causing his brain to short out. He was now in the one place he’d never thought he’d be—a Gio-Lucien sammich. Even with all their clothes on, it was now his favorite kind of sandwich. He would happily eat it every day for the rest of his life.

Calder was too tongue-tied to manage words. He nodded. At least he thought he nodded. He must have done something, because Gio’s smile grew wider. A second hand landed on his hip right where Lucien’s

The shots arrived, and Gio slid one over to Lucien before physically placing one in Calder’s hand as if he knew that his brain wasn’t in control of his body any longer. He watched as Gio clicked his shot glass on Lucien’s and then Calder’s. Tipping his head back, he sent the amber liquid down his long, sexy throat. Calder did the same without a thought. The burn was enough to wake him out of his stupor.

Sucking in a harsh breath, he coughed several times while slamming his shot glass on the bar. Gio grabbed his hand again and shoved a drink into it. Without thinking, Calder sipped it, relieved that it was his gin and tonic. The addition of more alcohol to his system probably wasn’t the smartest, but at least it had gotten rid of his coughing.

When he could breathe, he took a deep drink and set the glass on the bar to find Gio smiling at him while Lucien’s hand continued to dig possessively into his hip.

You okay?” Lucien inquired. For once, the question didn’t sound spiteful or mean. There was genuine concern in his tone.

Calder managed a small nod and Gio laughed.

Of course he’s okay. What are you drinking, sweetness?” Before Calder could answer, Gio leaned in and licked his bottom lip, sucking it into his mouth for a second, then releasing it with a wet pop. “Mmm…gin and tonic. Not bad.”

Calder barely heard the words. It was just a rush of blood past his ears as it raced to his steadily hardening dick.

As Gio moved away, he reached past Calder and pulled Lucien close. “And what are you drinking?” Calder watched as Gio licked his way into Lucien’s slack, welcoming mouth. He didn’t know what turned him on more—actually kissing Gio or watching Gio kiss Lucien. It defied all logic, but it was clear that his libido had zero interest in logic. He only wanted to know all the wonderful things Gio could do with his mouth.

Gio released Lucien and licked his own lips slowly. His dark eyes had turned black as his pupils dilated with desire. “I can tell this is going to be a fun night already. I suggest we head to my place so we can get more comfortable and less likely to be arrested.”

We? Calder croaked out.

Synopsis

Grey Ackles

The Soul Weaver feels useless.

A burden endangering his brothers.

The last battle with the pestilents cost Grey his sight and powers.

Now he’s dependent on his vision rehabilitation therapist Cort to learn how to function on a daily basis.

But as he grows closer to Cort, Grey is left wanting his powers back for a new reason—how will he ever know if the man he’s falling for is actually his soul mate?

Cort Newton

There is some really weird stuff going on at that house.

Spell books, guns, and a giraffe in the backyard?

But no matter how strange it gets, Cort is not going to leave the grumpy writer.

Adjusting to sudden blindness is hard for everyone, but Grey clearly has deeper reason for needing his vision back at any cost. Cort just wished Grey would confide in him.

Even with Grey’s secrets, Cort has never been drawn to a man like he is with Grey and he will do anything to keep this man safe.

Blind Warrior is the third book in the Weavers Circle series. It includes fast-paced action, running through Savannah, secrets, shapeshifting, brainwashed assassins, a gorilla, sexy times, fun with water, insecurity, three crazy old ladies, and magic!

Excerpt

Grey reluctantly got out of the vehicle and felt his way to the warm hood. “Gotta be a lot of glass bottles in there for me to knock over,” he warned as Lucien placed a hand on his biceps.

“We’ll steer you in the right direction.” Lucien pressed on his arm as they started walking. “You need the exercise.”

“Makes more sense for me to wait in the—” he broke off when a horrid smell hit his nose. It was like rotting meat left out on a hot summer day. “Shit, pestilents,” he hissed. Fear gripped his heart, his lungs freezing in his chest. How the hell was he supposed to protect himself?

Pestilents were these…humanoid creatures…from another realm who were trying to kill him and his brother Weavers. Their world was dying, and they wanted to leech energy off this one to save their own. Grey and the other Weavers had been tasked to stop them, using magic they’d gained from three goddesses. Insane. All of it sounded absolutely insane, but it was now his life.

One positive was that they were easy to spot, thanks to their awful stink. They rotted slowly in this world because they didn’t belong.

“I just smelled them, too,” Lucien grumbled under his breath.

“Can you see them?” Grey asked.

“They have to be in the store. Do pestilents drink alcohol?” Baer’s voice was moving away from Grey, possibly toward the Jeep.

“How the hell would we know?” Lucien led Grey back, too. Doors opened around him and he reached out with his left hand, coming into contact with the familiar durable fabric covering the rear bench seat in Baer’s Jeep.

“That’s it? We’re going to run?” Grey slid inside the vehicle, inwardly fuming. They were running to protect him.

“You expect us to just attack them in broad daylight in a wine shop?” Baer’s voice came from the driver’s side this time. “I can’t believe they’re rallying forces this fast. We had a three-month break last time.”

“There is obviously more than one set out there, or they wouldn’t have been chasing us over the United States.” Grey grabbed the front seats and pulled himself forward to lean between them as Lucien got into the passenger side. “I don’t think we should just leave them.”

Lucien cleared his throat. “I see only one at the counter now.”

“Doesn’t mean there aren’t more in the back,” Baer countered.

“Why don’t you go in there and lure him out?” Lucien suggested. “See that field behind those trees? We could fight it there.”

Grey saw nothing, but he didn’t bother to point that out. All he knew was, he felt wrong running and leaving any pestilents free to attack them later. Or even an innocent human who just happened to get in their way. If there were only a few, Baer and Lucien would be able to easily take care of them on their own. “I think that’s a good idea. But you should both go inside, just in case there are more than one.”

“And leave you help-er…alone out here?” Baer snapped. He cursed softly. “Sorry, Grey.”

But he was fucking helpless, and he knew it. Before losing his sight, his powers hadn’t done a lot when it came to fighting, but he’d been able to shoot a gun, use a knife. He wasn’t bad in a fight. And he’d been able to serve as a lookout, offer cover for his brothers. Now, he didn’t even have that.

Of course, his powers were tied to his sight, so he couldn’t use those. All he got were the occasional broken thoughts and emotions from others. His ability to see auras had been nipped in the bud. As was his ability to see into people’s souls, to read their past, motives, desires, and thoughts. He didn’t know if he could still manipulate people, hadn’t even tried.

“I’m going in,” Baer announced. “I’ll lure him into the field and shift into something fierce. We’ll dispatch this asshole, grab our booze, and go home.”

Excerpt

There were about five people ahead of
Baer in line—all of them staring at their phones or the shiny glass case of a
tantalizing rainbow of doughnuts and pastries. Including the sexy blond Mini
Cooper owner who was right in front of Baer in line. While Baer was a
relatively average height of five ten, the blond was at least a delicate five
seven or maybe five eight. The guy looked up from his phone as Baer stepped up
behind him, and he flashed a nervous smile.

“Hey,” he greeted in a slightly husky
voice and then flushed some more.

Yeah, this guy was all kinds of
adorable.

“Mornin’,” Baer replied. “You ever been
here before?”

The man shook his head, shoving his
phone into his pocket. “No. It was recommended to me recently. When I woke up
this morning, I just had to have doughnuts.” He gave a nervous little laugh. “I
guess that’s the result of nonstop marketing at its best. It’s fall, so we’ve
all gotta eat pumpkin-flavored everything for the next month.”

Blondie had the sexiest southern drawl.
It wasn’t too thick. Probably a local, but he’d spent some time out of the
area. Just enough to lose some of its natural thickness, but those lilting
drawls still mesmerized Baer when he spoke, leaving him wondering how his lips
and tongue wrapped around each vowel and consonant.

Good grief.  He really did need to
grab Grey for a boys’ night out in Savannah if he was going to start
fantasizing about a nerdy twink’s mouth. Soul mates and forever sounded great,
but it was clear that he needed to get laid. And what better time was there?
Things were quiet. They weren’t running and fighting for their lives.

Pumpkin doughnuts and sex could do a
growing boy good.

The bell hanging from the front door
announced the arrival of another customer. Baer was about to ask the man’s name
when the heavy scent of rotting flesh rolled through the room, overpowering the
delicious miasma of frosting and fried dough.

Fuck.

He didn’t even need to turn around to
know that behind him, pestilents had stepped into the bakery. It wasn’t enough
that the alien race was attempting to steal the power of the earth to save
their own dying planet while killing all Weavers in the process, but they had
to interrupt his attempts at flirting as well? Just not cool.

Silently, Baer cursed himself and his
luck. They’d all grown a little complacent over the past couple of months.
They’d even started venturing away from the protection of the plantation
without backup because the pestilents had stopped attacking.

Apparently they’d gathered enough
numbers to make another go at the Weavers, and he’d not been paying enough
attention to his surroundings to check to make sure there were no pestilents
close. Instead of checking in with the animals in the area that there were no
pestilents around, he’d let himself get distracted by big chestnut-brown eyes
and a sweet smile.

Twisting around to glance over his
shoulder, Baer swore under his breath to find a male and female pestilent
standing in front of the door. Humans wouldn’t notice anything different about
them, but Weavers could. The air wavered around them as if they radiated heat.
And, of course, there was the godawful stench. Pestilents were not meant for
this world, and their bodies started rotting from the moment they arrived.
Their time in this place was limited, but what time they had was spent trying
to kill the Weavers.

The pestilent woman wore a pair of
ragged jeans, and her brown hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail, making
her angular features seem that much sharper. A feral grin pulled across her
thin lips when she spotted him. She lifted the shotgun in her hands to her
shoulder and pointed it straight at his chest.

Baer sucked in a breath. Was she really
going to open fire in a small building crowded with people? Everyone was going
to be killed or injured. Not only one fucking Weaver.

Pivoting on the balls of his feet, Baer
wrapped an arm around Blondie’s slender waist and dove over the closest
table. A shocked yelp left the man’s lips, but he didn’t fight Baer as they
tumbled to the floor. With his free hand, Baer grabbed the edge of the table,
pulling it onto its side. They landed with the surprisingly thick wooden
barrier at their backs just as the shotgun exploded in the room, slamming into
the far side of the table and a scattering of chairs.

Clay Green

A brotherhood? Monsters? Goddesses? Magic?

The world has become a strange place.

After a life on the run, Clay Green is rescued by a crazy old lady with a shotgun and an even crazier story about monsters, goddesses, and a secret brotherhood.

Gifted with the power of the earth, Clay must locate his missing “brothers” before invading monsters can destroy everything.

As if that’s not enough to contend with, Clay can’t keep his hands off the man trying to rebuild the plantation house he’s temporarily living in.

Dane Briggs

Something strange is going on…

Dane knew restoring the old plantation house wasn’t going to be an easy job, but at least none of the clients were going to be underfoot. Since losing his wife and child, the only way Dane can keep going is to focus on the work.

But that focus crumbles the second Clay appears covered in blood and barely hanging on to life.

Mystery and danger cling to Clay and the other men who suddenly show up. A smart man would walk away.

Dane chucks smart out the window in favor of hungry kisses and the silken slide of skin against skin. He doesn’t understand what’s happening, but there’s no question that Clay needs him.

He’s just not sure his heart can survive being broken again if something happens to Clay.

Broken Warrior is the first book in The Weavers Circle series. It includes fast-paced action, explosions, hurt/comfort, sexy times, animal shenanigans, wounded hearts, three crazy old ladies, and magic!

Excerpt

“And were you attacked on your walk? Some kind of flying suckerfish? Because that’s definitely not a hickey on your neck,” Baer continued.

Grey lifted his mug of coffee to his lips again, but he paused long enough to agree. “Definitely not a hickey.”

Without thinking, Clay slapped his hand to the spot Dane had sucked on during round one—or was it round three? Fuck, he’d come so many times last night, his balls should need a week to recover, but his dick was refusing to take orders from his brain or balls. The damn thing wanted to say “Fuck coffee” and crawl back into bed with Dane.

Laughter rang out in the kitchen, and Clay groaned. He’d never had a roommate, but he sort of imagined this was what it was like. Fuck, when all six of them were in the plantation house, it would be like a goddamn frat house.

Grabbing a mug out of the cabinet, Clay continued to ignore the duo at the table as he poured himself a cup of liquid sanity. He took his time, adding a little sugar, and then turned to the table. Before he took one step, he lifted a hand, and whatever Baer had been about to say stopped in his throat.

“I won’t discuss it. Not one word,” Clay said firmly.

Baer’s shoulder’s slumped, and his mouth snapped shut. He looked like a sad puppy for all of two seconds before he was up and happy again.

“I’m sure Grey is one of us,” Baer announced, moving on to an entirely new subject. At least this was one Clay was willing to tackle, even if he wasn’t sure he had the brainpower for it yet. If anything, it gave him something to think about besides Dane.

“Yeah, I kind of thought that last night too.”

Clay settled into a chair across from Baer and Grey. He could use a long, hot shower and a clean set of clothes, but one look at the eager expression on Baer’s face and he knew the man would follow him to the bathroom to discuss this. He could do without them sharing the bathroom with him.

“When I saw him running with you toward the Jeep last night, I swear I got the weirdest feeling of déjà vu. I know we’ve done this all before. Well, maybe not at that club, but the running together, the fighting together.” Baer rested his forearms on the table and leaned forward. “Even when we got back to the house, I felt like I knew him. Known him my whole life.”

“The same way you feel with me?”

Baer nodded.

Clay looked over at Grey, who had both hands wrapped around the dark-blue coffee mug resting on the table in front of him. A deep frown was pulling at the corners of his mouth and drawing lines between his thick eyebrows. Without the threat of death and destruction looming over their heads, Clay took a moment to actually look at the man. Gray hair highlighted his temples, and more of it flecked the closely trimmed beard lining his jaw and chin. He was paler than himself and Baer, as if he were more likely to spend long hours inside the house, but there was no missing the lean muscles that filled out his wrinkled button-down shirt. Maybe a swimmer. Or a runner.

“What do you think?” Clay prodded when Grey remained silent.

“That this is all stupid, ridiculous, and utterly impossible,” Grey grumbled. His hands tightened on his mug, but he didn’t lift it back to his mouth.

“But?”

“I can’t deny I have the same feeling of déjà vu with both of you. Something-something inside of me keeps claiming that I know.”

Clay glanced over at Baer. “Did you tell him?”

“Oh, he fucking told me so much,” Grey answered for him with a rough bark of laughter. “Powers and goddesses and other dimensions with alien monsters trying to kill us so they can destroy the world. I heard plenty last night.”

Closing his eyes, Clay pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed heavily. Yeah, that was pretty much how it all sounded. Insane and impossible. That was his life now to a T. Opening his eyes again, he stared at Baer. “And you told him all this stone-cold sober?”

Baer’s chest puffed up and he grinned broadly at his friend. “No!”

Clay rolled his eyes.

“I found that cheap bottle of whiskey we lost. I think Jo hid it. But anyway, we killed that bottle, and I explained about the pestilents, Weavers, and the Circle.”

Clay looked over at Grey, waiting for his response on how the hell he took this information while loaded up on cheap whiskey.

“And then he turned into an ostrich,” Grey said in a deadpan voice.

“I was trying for a peacock. Something flashy,” Baer commented in a low voice.

“Broke the coffee table.”

“I panicked!”

“You were drunk!” Clay shouted.

“Birds are hard,” Baer muttered under his breath, his eyes locked on his coffee mug in front of him in a pout.

clan specifically requests Rafe’s help in tracking down a killer, he can’t say
no.

Sure, Rafe claims he’s doing it for his
family. They’ve attracted too many enemies and could use a few allies.

That’s not the whole truth, though.

There’s something about Philippe
Arsenault that draws Rafe in. He wants more of Philippe. The vampire leaves him
longing for another second in his presence, another taste of his lips, another
caress of those perfect fingers.

Yet when it’s all over, what will become
of Philippe and Rafe? Because Philippe will always be an Arsenault, and Rafe
will always be a Varik.

Saving Rafe is the second book in an MM
paranormal romance series that has vampires, betrayal, annoying brothers,
music, heartbreak, hope, sexy times, and a pair of star-crossed lovers.

Excerpt

From their first meeting at The Gallery,
Philippe found himself drawn to Rafe. Everything about the vampire whispered
temptation. Philippe longed to pin Rafe to the nearest flat surface and make
the most delicious moans rise from those lush parted lips. But more than
feeding and fucking, Rafe whispered of escape and freedom. No more worry and
responsibility beating him down. With Rafe, Philippe would be able to run free
and laugh, enjoy the long life he’d been cursed with.

Jullien had warned him that Rafe didn’t
seem to be appearing at his club as much as he had in the past, but Philippe
wasn’t worried. Lola had spotted the Arsenault pair from where she was leaning
against the bar. If she hadn’t called Rafe already to alert him that the clan
leader was at his club, she would shortly.

No. There was no need. Rafe was already
there.

The vampire was in the middle of the
dance floor, surrounded by a throng of men and women as they moved to the
pounding beat of the music. A slender blonde pressed tightly to his front, her
long arms wrapped around Rafe’s neck, while a muscular man in a shirt that
looked as if it was a second skin was pressed against Rafe’s back.

Reaching behind him, Rafe grabbed a
handful of the dancer’s hair and held him in place as Rafe ravaged his mouth.
Even through the writhing crowd of bodies, Philippe could see the man’s left
hand tighten on the vampire.

Blood shot straight to Philippe’s dick
as he regarded the blatant display of sex and power. His fangs ached to slide
down, but Philippe couldn’t figure out if he wanted to join the sexy threesome
or if he wished to shove both humans away so he could claim Rafe for himself.
Neither of them was a healthy thought or would help his clan, so he shoved away
the flicker of hunger.

As if he knew what was flitting through
Philippe’s brain, Rafe released his companion and looked directly at Philippe,
a wicked grin growing on his glistening lips. There was the faintest glow in
his sharp blue eyes. It could be blamed on the flashing lights, but Philippe
recognized it for what it was. Hunger. Sharp, sexual hunger.

Philippe’s breath caught in his throat
and his fucking dick gave another begging throb, urging him to cross the damn
club and grab Rafe, but he kept his feet planted as if they’d been bolted to
the floor.

The look passed in just a second; then
Rafe was turning to both people cuddled against him. He said something to each
in their ears before extricating himself and making his way across the club
toward Philippe.

“Oh, he’s here already,” Jullien
murmured behind him as if he’d just spotted Rafe.

Philippe gave a curt nod, not trusting
himself to speak yet. He wanted to reach down and adjust himself in his slacks,
but he was afraid of Rafe catching the movement as he got closer. Philippe kept
his eyes on Rafe as he smiled and laughed, kissing cheeks of familiar patrons
while he slowly made his way through the crowd. Halfway to Philippe, a vampire
he didn’t recognize whispered in Rafe’s ear while handing him a drink. Rafe’s
smile shrank a millimeter as he accepted the glass.

And those electric-blue eyes were on
Philippe as he sipped his dark drink, a wicked smile playing on his lips. God,
Philippe was dying to kiss that smile off his lips.

When Rafe was standing in front of him,
the club owner took a deep breath as if he was scenting the air. Philippe
couldn’t guess what he smelled, but he carefully schooled his face, giving away
nothing but mild amusement.

“You’ve finally made your way into my
little den of sin,” Rafe said with a laugh.

“I’ve heard so much about it, Mr. Varik.
I thought I should see it for myself.”

Rafe’s eyes sparkled with laughter, and
he leaned close so he could speak directly into Philippe’s ear. Behind him,
Jullien stepped forward, bumping Philippe’s shoulder. Philippe immediately
reached back, pressing a restraining hand to Jullien’s stomach. Rafe wasn’t
threatening him. No, the vampire was playing with him, and there was a part of
Philippe dying to play with Rafe.

“Come now, Philippe. We’re going to be
forming an alliance. We’re practically family. I think you can call me Rafe.”

For a second, Philippe closed his eyes
at Rafe’s rough whisper. It was like the vampire was lightly raking his nails
across all Philippe’s nerve endings, sending the most decadent shiver across
his flesh. There was a whiff of blood and alcohol on Rafe’s breath, enflaming
Philippe’s hunger. He had only to turn his head and he’d be able to capture
Rafe’s sinful mouth in a scorching kiss.

But Philippe didn’t let himself move.
Didn’t flinch a single muscle as he fought his own desires to get to the heart
of what Rafe was telling him.

Philippe’s eyes snapped open, and he
found himself drowning in Rafe’s all-too-perceptive blue eyes. “You’re going to
help me find Piper?”

Something passed over Rafe’s face for a
second, but Philippe couldn’t describe it. It was gone almost as quickly as it
appeared, and Rafe was smiling his wicked grin again.

“The Variks are happy to help the
Arsenaults,” Rafe said, and they were back to the diplomatic comments.

Philippe couldn’t quite stop his
disappointment from showing. He liked the flirty, playful Rafe more. The one
who liked to fan the flames. He didn’t seem the “watch the world burn” type,
but he didn’t mind lighting a few small controlled fires to shake things up.

Meet the Author

It started with a battered notebook. Jocelynn
Drake wrote her first story when she was 12 years old. It was a retelling of
Robin Hood that now included a kickass female who could keep up with all the
boys and be more than just a sad little love interest. From there, she explored
space, talked to dragons, and fell in love again and again and again.

This former Kentucky girl has moved up, down, and across the US with her
patient husband. They’ve settled near the Rockies…for now. She spends the
majority of her time lost in the strong embrace of a good book.

When she’s not hammering away at her keyboard or curled up with a book, she can
usually be found cuddling with her cat Demona, walking her dog Ace, or flinging
curses at the TV while playing a video game. Outside of books, furry babies,
and video games, she is completely enamored of Bruce Wayne, Ezio Auditore,
travel, tattoos, explosions, and fast cars.

She is the author of the urban fantasy series: The Dark Days series and the
Asylum Tales. She also has a gay romantic suspense series called The Exit
Strategy and has recently launched a new paranormal series called the Lords of
Discord. She has also co-authored with Rinda Elliott the following series:
Unbreakable Bonds, Ward Security, and Pineapple Grove. She can be found at www.JocelynnDrake.com.
