Book blurb:

Forgiveness is a hollow prayer you only hear in your dreams.

Patrick Collins has spent years handling cases as a special agent for the Supernatural Operations Agency, even as his secret standing in the preternatural world has changed. He should have confessed to his role as co-leader of the New York City god pack when he and Jonothon de Vere took up the mantle months ago, but he didn’t. Now that split loyalty will cost him at a time when he can least afford it.

Outmaneuvered, framed for murder, and targeted by the Dominion Sect, Patrick has to face a past full of lies to regain his freedom. Revealing the truth means he’ll need to give up the life that has defined him. Everything he’s fought to build with his pack is at stake, and losing them isn’t a price Patrick is willing to pay, but some choices aren’t his to make.

Jono knows they can’t cede any more territory if they want to win the god pack civil war spilling into the streets of New York City. But the souls of werecreatures are free for the taking when demons come to town and angels sing a warning no one can ignore. When Jono’s worst fear comes to life, and he loses the one person he can’t live without, the only option left is to fight.

Facing down the demons of their past and the ones in their present, Patrick and Jono will learn the hard way that some sins never wash away clean.

An Echo in the Sorrow is a 118k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot. It is a direct sequel to On the Wings of War. Reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

Boy Meets Boy Excerpt:

“Weren’t the two of you were getting a ride?” Sage asked.
“We were until our driver saw my eyes. He kicked us out of the car and canceled the pickup.”
“The news is rife with werecreature stories right now, and none of them are positive. That’s still a rude thing to do.”
“See?” Wade interjected. “Even Sage thinks he was an asshole.”
Jono rolled his eyes. “I wasn’t going to have a row with the bloke when it’s his car.”
“I can send someone to pick you guys up,” Sage said.
“We’ll be fine.”
“You’ll be at risk.”
“I understand that, but they’ve proven we’re at risk no matter what we do. Hiding won’t change that.”
“I wasn’t talking about hiding, but about being cautious.”
“We’ll be fine. You know why.”
Sage ignored his subtle reminder about Fenrir. “Are you falling back on your do as I say, not as I do idiocy? Because we’ve discussed your stupidity in that area before.”
Wade cackled loudly at that and smirked at Jono.
Jono shook his head. “That’s more Patrick’s state of being.”
“You both hold the title of idiot when it comes to personal safety sometimes. Traveling outside right now isn’t safe. I thought yesterday was enough of a reminder?”
“I’m aware of that, but I don’t want to be late. We should be fine on the subway.” Jono sidestepped a woman walking her dog, ignoring the way the dog growled at him. “If we keep arguing over this, Wade and I will be at the office by the time you end the call.”

Book blurb:

Remembering the dead will always give them life.

The coveted Morrígan’s staff is up for sale on the black market to the highest bidder, and SOA Special Agent Patrick Collins will do whatever it takes to ensure the Dominion Sect doesn’t get their hands on it. Returning the weapon to its rightful owner is another step on the long road toward clearing Patrick’s soul debt, but he won’t walk it alone. Jonothon de Vere won’t let him.

Obeying the gods means Patrick must travel to London. For Jono, it means facing a past he thought he’d left behind forever. His return to England isn’t welcome, and neither is their pack, but Jono and Patrick will face the antagonism together. Politics aside, their priority must be the mission, but the bone-chilling secret they uncover in the London god pack will have far-reaching repercussions no one can ignore.

A race against time takes Patrick and Jono from the streets of London to the bright lights of Paris, where hospitality is thin on the ground, the air is filled with whispered prayers for the missing, and the Morrígan’s staff will end up in the one place it should never have gone—a graveyard.

For beneath Paris lie the long-forgotten dead, and when they rise to walk again, the living can only hope to die.

On the Wings of War is a 109k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Vigil in the Mourning. Reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

About On the Wings of War by Hailey Turner: This is an exciting sequel that builds on the series plot and makes readers keep wanting more!

Excerpt for Boy Meets Boy

“How the fuck is the Savoy neutral ground?” Patrick asked as Jono navigated the car through evening London traffic. Patrick had swapped out his suit for his usual jeans, T-shirt, and leather jacket with its cold charms activated instead of heat. He had a feeling his outfit wouldn’t pass muster with hotel staff.

“Why are you asking me? I haven’t been in London for years,” Jono said.

“Conducting pack business isn’t usually done so publicly, but the London god pack alphas were adamant about meeting at the Beaufort Bar,” Sage said from the back seat.

Patrick rested his elbow against the window to prop up his head. “That’s a lot of literal human shields they could end up using if things go bad.”

“Do you think things will?” Wade asked. He had a box of Jaffa Cakes in hand, another in his lap, and was steadily eating his way through them. The sound of him chewing hadn’t stopped since they got in the car.

Sage’s expression became grim in the rearview mirror. “It’s a possibility we have to accept. Their dire wasn’t pleased about being forced to agree to the meeting. I think it’s safe to say his alphas will feel the same way.”

Patrick’s gaze drifted over the winding view of the Thames at night and the way some of the more well-known London landmarks glowed against the night sky. It was just the four of them for the meeting, with Nadine handling the needs of the WSA while Patrick turned his attention toward his pack. He trusted her to keep the WSA from asking too many questions about his absence, but knew he’d have to face them all again tomorrow.

Showing up bruised would definitely have them asking questions.

“Tom didn’t know what you three were when we met with him at the pub yesterday,” Jono said.

Patrick turned his head fractionally to look at him. “Meaning?”

“He thinks you’re human. Depending on what the god pack has heard about New York, they may not know you’re a mage, Sage is a weretiger, and Wade is a dragon.”

“We aren’t giving up Wade’s form unless we’re backed into a corner.”

“Didn’t you tell me not to shift mass while we were in London?” Wade asked.

“We’ll make an exception if it looks like we’re losing the fight.”

“We won’t lose,” Jono said, sounding way too confident for Patrick’s liking.

Patrick snorted. “Let’s operate under the assumption they know everything public about us and we don’t know jack shit about them. If we’re going in blind, let’s be prepared for anything.”

Sage leaned forward between the seats. “If they demand a fight in the challenge ring, will you agree to it?”

Patrick opened his mouth to say no when Jono beat him to it with the wrong fucking answer.

“Yes,” Jono said, sounding calm even if the steering wheel creaked beneath his grip.

Patrick jerked his head around to stare at Jono. “Excuse me?”

“If things are as messy as we think they are, then refusing to fight won’t get us very far. We need the right to stay in London.” Jono turned his head to glance at Patrick, his wolf-bright blue eyes flashing from reflected streetlights. “You need that right, Pat.”

Sage sat back with a sigh. “He’s not wrong.”

Patrick stared at Jono. “You aren’t fighting them.”

Jono turned his attention back to the road. “Neither are you.”

I will be fighting them if they insist on deciding things in the challenge ring. That’s my responsibility as dire,” Sage said.

Praise for The Soulbound Series:

Hailey Turner never disappoints! The Soulbound series continues in On The Wings of War with Turner's unique and compelling world-building, beloved characters including Wade the ever-snacking cutie pie, and the same kind of page-turning action we've come to expect from a Hailey Turner story. Whenever I read a Soulbound novel, I come out of it feeling smarter and a little bit breathless, like if I looked behind me there might be a tiny bit of magic and dragon smoke wafting in the air. I can't recommend this new Hailey Turner novel enough. Grab it now! - Bestselling author, Lucy Lennox

With every new book in the Soulbound series, I ask myself how Hailey Turner could possibly top this, and in true Patrick style, challenge accepted. Each book in this series is even better than the last, and I’m absolutely in love with these characters. I can’t get enough of Patrick, Jono, Wade, and On the Wings of War is an adrenaline-fueled adventure you don’t want to miss! - Bestselling author, Charlie Cochet

Hailey Turner is a wonderful writer, and nowhere is this better illustrated than in the Soulbound series. The world of Patrick and Jono is so perfectly realised and populated with rich characters drawn from mythology and folklore. I couldn’t put this book down. - Bestselling author, Lily Morton

I have been a fan of the Soulbound series since the very beginning, but somehow it gets better with every new installment, and this one is the best yet. The twists and turns are tighter, the action more explosive, the love between Jono and Patrick deeper, and the bonds with their found family even sweeter, making On the Wings of War one of the most satisfying reads I’ve had in a long time. This book was a roller coaster ride I never wanted to end. - M/M Author, May Archer

About A Vigil in the Mourning:

The devil you know is never the one you should trust.

Special Agent Patrick Collins is dispatched to Chicago, chasing a lead on the Morrígan’s staff for the joint task force. Needing a cover for his presence in the Windy City, Patrick is ordered to investigate a politician running for mayor. In the lead up to election day, not everything is what it seems in a city where playing to win means appeasing the gods first and the electorate second.

But Chicago brings its own set of problems outside the case: a stand-offish local god pack, a missing immortal, and Patrick’s twin sister. Fighting Hannah and the Dominion Sect provides Patrick with a sinister reminder that some blood ties can never be cut.

Left behind in New York City, Jonothon de Vere finds himself targeted by hunters who will go through anyone to kill him—including the packs under his protection. With a bounty on his head, Jono is forced to make a choice that Patrick would never approve of. Doing so risks breaking the trust he’s built with the man he loves, but not acting will give the rival New York City god pack leverage Jono can’t afford to give up.

When Patrick and Jono reunite in Chicago, Patrick must confront the fraying of a relationship he’s come to rely on for his own sanity. But fixing their personal problems will have to wait—because Niflheim is clawing at the shores of Lake Michigan and the dead are hungry.

A Vigil in the Mourning is a 102k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Crown of Iron & Silver. Reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

Praise for A Vigil in the Mourning (Soulbound #4):

Patrick and Jono fight for their lives, tangling with Norse gods and monsters, while their relationship is strained by secrets and separation, in another exciting, deliciously angsty ride from Turner's Soulbound series. — Layla Reyne, author of the Fog City Trilogy

VIGIL IN MOURNING takes the Soulbound series a step further into stellar story crafting. A change in scenery for Patrick and a separation from his soulmate raises the stakes, and cliches are deftly avoided and expectations shattered as the central love story becomes fraught with tension. Each plot twist leaves the reader gasping and clinging to the pages, and I was not expecting that ending. Jono and Patrick lead an ensemble cast of characters that includes a snack obsessed dragon, a seer with a sarcasm problem, and gods that can't help but meddle. Patrick's snarktastic attitude leaves me laughing and terrified at the trouble he calls down. — SJ Himes, bestselling author

Exclusive Excerpt

Jono didn’t feel comfortable until he was outside the heavily warded building that housed the PCB in Lower Manhattan, breathing in cold winter air. He pulled his mobile out of his pocket and was about to ring his ride when a familiar Escalade pulled to the curb. The window rolled down halfway, and Emma stared at him from behind the steering wheel. The accusation in her gaze hadn’t faded since Ginnungagap.
“Get in,” she said flatly.
Jono bit back a wince. “Where did Leon go?”
“We swapped babysitting duties.” Someone honked in the street behind her and she scowled. “Get in, Jono.”
Jono climbed into the SUV and buckled up. Emma took her foot off the brake and stepped on the gas. She didn’t look at him.
“Leon and I were supposed to go to Queens,” Jono said.
“We swapped that duty, too.”
Jono stretched out his legs and stared straight ahead. He knew why Emma was angry, that the row he could feel building was inevitable, but he figured the place to start was “I’m sorry.”
Emma gripped the steering wheel so tight her knuckles went white. She clenched her jaw, muscles standing out in her slim throat. “I hate how your secrets keep getting doled out when we least expect it.”
“They aren’t just my secrets, Em.”
“This one is.” Emma flicked the turn signal before the next light, waiting to turn left. “Sage said she found out in December when you were all past the veil in Tír na nÓg and you told her not to tell us.”
“You can’t be mad at her for keeping my secret.”
“You’ve had an animal-god patron guiding you since you were infected. Do you know how fucking rare that is? More than half the packs in the United States have stopped believing in them. The power they bring is just myths these days.”
“Did it look like I was carrying a myth?” Jono asked quietly.
Emma snorted. “I’m assuming Patrick knows?”
“He’s known since last summer.” Jono leaned his head back against the headrest and grimaced. “Ethan knows because he saw what was in my soul in preparation for his sacrifice. Lucien and Carmen found out when I left to get Patrick after he’d stayed at the Crimson Diamond to save Kennedy in August. Gerard and Keith know because they were there with us in the Spring Queen’s Court when I reinforced our bargain with the fae. Now you and Leon know.”
“Ethan knows?” Emma asked after half a minute of silence.
Jono closed his eyes and tried not to think about that time spent in Ethan’s hands. “He knew, somehow, about Fenrir, or that the gods were going to give me to Patrick. Either way, it made me a target at the time.”
Emma didn’t speak again until they were driving north on the FDR, heading for Queensboro Bridge. “It kind of feels like you don’t want us to know anything.”
“I…” Jono’s voice trailed off, and he opened his eyes, staring blankly at the red taillights stretched out before them. Evening rush-hour traffic was fucking terrible no matter the city. “Fenrir didn’t speak to me until after I got infected with the werevirus. I was making a right mess of things in London at the time. Then I woke up one day with his voice in my head and his claws in my soul and he wouldn’t leave.”
“Did Marek know? When he went to London to bring you here?”
Jono turned his head, staring at Emma’s profile limned in the faint shine of headlights and taillights. “No. He never mentioned Fenrir when he made his offer.”
“Maybe he knew and just never said anything. Like you.”
“Em.” Jono rubbed tiredly at his face. “Is this going to be a problem?”
“You lying?”
“Me obeying the gods because I had no bloody choice.”

The world building in this book is astounding, and I’m so in love with Patrick and Jono. Each time I think Hailey can’t get any better and then she does!
--Lily Morton, author of the Mixed Messages series

No one combines world building and page-turning action like Hailey Turner, but somehow A Crown of Iron and Silver still managed to exceed my every expectation! The machinations of gods, conniving fae, and corrupt shifters kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and the development of Jono and Patrick’s relationship - loyalty, caring, and passion that sears the page - cemented this as one of my favorite reads of 2019. This series gets better with every book, and I can not recommend it highly enough!

Never promise a life that isn’t yours to give.

New York City is decked out for the holidays, and Special Agent Patrick Collins is looking forward to a reunion with his old team when he gets assigned a new case. A human child is missing, and the changeling left in her place causes a prominent witch family to demand justice from the fae.

Meanwhile, continued harassment from the New York City god pack forces Jonothon de Vere to formally establish his own with Patrick. Doing so will mean a civil war within the werecreature community—a war they risk losing from the start without alliances. Making bargains with the fae is never wise, but Patrick and Jono have nothing to lose when a fae lord comes asking for their help.

The Summer Lady has been kidnapped from the Seelie Court, and if they can find her, Patrick and Jono will cement an alliance with the fae. But the clues to her disappearance are found in Tír na nÓg, and the Otherworld has never been kind to mortals.

Venturing past the veil, Patrick and Jono risk losing territory, time, and their very lives while searching for answers. Because the Queen of Air and Darkness knows they are coming—and the ruler of the Unseelie Court has an offer for them they can’t possibly refuse.

“I still think I should call my office,” Sage said as she dumped her long umbrella in the bin on the landing outside their door once they made it up the stairs.
“I don’t know what fae Court your bosses work for,” Patrick retorted, keeping his voice low.
“Not the one that calls down the Sluagh.”
“That’s not saying much. Both Courts have their own kind of Wild Hunt.”
“Which my bosses wouldn’t let loose on New York City without a damn good reason, and the one riding the storm last night wasn’t theirs.”
“You sure about that? That storm could’ve hidden anything in the clouds. It hid the Sluagh, remember?”
Jono closed the door behind them, the flat a bit cooler now with some of the heat let out. “Wild Hunt?”
“Have you seen the morning news?” Sage asked. She dropped her Birkin bag on the dining room table before divesting herself of the ankle-length winter wool coat she wore.
“Just woke up.” Jono watched as Patrick carefully laid a sleeping baby not even a year old on the sofa. “I thought you said the case was about a missing child? Did you find the sprog and steal it?”
“Someone was stolen, but not her.” Patrick straightened up and turned to face them. He looked tired, green eyes red-rimmed from lack of sleep. “Tell me there’s coffee.”
“I made tea.”
“Ugh. This is America. We threw your tea in the Boston Harbor for a reason.”

“I’m busy, Carmen. I don’t have time for your games.”
“You are never too busy for us.” She came to a stop before both of them, her gaze locked on Patrick’s face. “Come along, bastardo. You know better than to keep my master waiting.”
Patrick was mindful of the fact they were still in public and didn’t hesitate to conjure up a tiny mageglobe that nestled against his palm, mostly hidden from sight. He cast a silence ward through it, restricting the static to their area only. A bubble of quiet settled over them, his ears ringing from it.
“No, really,” Patrick demanded once it was safe to talk. “How did you find me?”
“How’s that dead body you found the other night?”
“The fuck do you mean by that? Is Lucien fucking with the werecreature community here?”
“He best not be,” Jono said in a flat voice full of leashed anger.
Carmen waved off his words. “We aren’t the ones dealing shine.”
Patrick snorted. “This time. It still doesn’t stop you from taking in the addicts.”
“When food shows up willing and free on our doorstep, we aren’t going to tell it no,” Carmen said derisively.
Carmen’s hand was a blur when she reached for him, but Jono was faster. He grabbed her hand in a way that made it look like they were romantically involved if one ignored the way they both sought to use their strength against the other to break bone.
“You don’t touch him,” Jono bit out, the threat in his voice easy for Patrick to make out.
Carmen smirked. “You might have claimed him, but he owes us. I’m sure you understand the price of a debt.”
“I understand Patrick isn’t going anywhere with you alone.”
Carmen raked her talons over the underside of Jono’s wrist as she wrenched her hand free, drawing blood. “We thought as much. Lucien is waiting, Patrick. Now be a good puppet and do as you are told.”
Fuck you,” Patrick ground out.
“If you like,” she practically purred, licking Jono’s blood off her fingers. “I doubt your wolf would approve.”

Book synopsis:

You can’t bargain with death if you’ve already sold your soul.

Special Agent Patrick Collins has been reassigned by the Supernatural Operations Agency to New York City. Learning to navigate his new relationship with Jonothon de Vere, the werewolf he’s now soulbound to, is nothing compared to dealing with territorial disputes between the vampires and werecreatures who call the five boroughs home. But the delicate treaties that have kept the preternatural world in check are fraying at the edges, and the fallout is spilling into the mundane world.

Manhattan’s club scene is overrun with the vampire drug known as shine and the subways have become a dumping ground for bodies. When the dead are revealed as missing werecreatures, Patrick and Jono find themselves entangled in pack politics twisted by vampire machinations.

Learning to trust each other comes with problems for both of them, and the gods with a stake in Patrick’s soul debt aren’t finished with him yet. Bound by promises they can’t break, Patrick and Jono must find a way to survive a threat that takes no prisoners and is stalking them relentlessly through the city streets.

Old and new betrayals are coming home to roost but the truth—buried in blood—is more poisonous than the lies being spun. Trying to outrun death is a nightmare—one Patrick may never wake up from.

All Souls Near & Nigh is a 104k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Ferry of Bones & Gold, and reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one. Author Hailey Turner says All Souls Nigh & Near is: An exciting sequel that builds on the series plot and will keep readers wanting more!

Q&A with Hailey Turner:

What comes first, the plot or characters?
This is like the chicken or the egg question. For me, it’s a mixture of both. I feel my characters play off the plot, but I need the outline of the book and series to really create a character and their motives. Characters and plot are pretty intertwined when I create a book, so I can’t say one comes first above the other.

Describe a typical writing day.
I usually write in the morning and evenings around work on weekdays, and for a block of hours on the weekend around errands and time spent with friends and family. On weekdays, I get up early in the morning (I’m talking 5:00am here) to get some writing in before work. I try to make time to write every day otherwise it would be difficult to finish a book if I didn’t.

How do you come up with the titles to your books?
I like to have themes with my titles and they tend to have the same sort of word structure for the entire series. For my Metahuman Files series, the titles spoke to the missions in each book. For Soulbound, every title has a hint of the mythology I’ve incorporated into that particular book. It varies with every series but I honestly can’t start a book without a title.

Hailey Turner is big city girl who spoils her cats rotten and has a demanding day job that she loves, but not as much as she loves writing. She’s been writing since she was a young child and enjoys reading almost as much as creating a new story. Hailey loves stories with lots of action, gritty relationships, and an eventual HEA that satisfies the heart.
