Anniversary Shenanigans: Author Visit & Giveaway: Morticia Knight

There are many books I've read for the blog this year. One book in particular I'm pretty sure I'd have never read, if not for the blog, is Hollywood Bound (Gin & Jazz #1) by the lovely Morticia Knight!

Oh, how I would have missed out! When I read it and first reviewed it, I'm not sure I knew what I was getting myself into. Warning: Heartache ahead! But so worth it. Otherwise, I would have never met sweet Jacky-boy! He's one of my faves. I loved the era, the friends to lovers theme, the realness of the characters and the delicious angst. Nothing was easy and simple, but it was real. Not only is the first book fantastic but I adored the entire series. The characters have such depth and they definitely stuck with me. Not to mention the hotness of it all. *bites lip* Not only does the series cover Jack and Nick's HEA but the story of some beloved (and not to beloved) side characters.

This whole blog thing is pretty freakin' awesome, especially when I meet some of my favorite characters that I would have never known otherwise.

Thank goodness this one caught my eye and I said "I WANT. GIMME."

When we decided to invite authors from our personal awesome blog books lists, Morticia Knight is the first author I thought of. She's here with us today *squee* to answer some of our Q's!

BMBR: What are your favorite M/M themes?
Morticia: Hmmm…so many to choose from. My obvious first choice (to me anyway!) would be BDSM, kink and fetish – but I like it mixed in with other themes too. I also tend to gravitate toward hurt/comfort, older man/younger man, virgins, and on the rare occasion when the author can really make me drink the Kool Aid – gay for you.

BMBR: What books do you consider Desert Island Keepers?
Morticia: Anything that Sean Michael has ever written - even the ones that weren’t my favorite. Don’t care. He’s a rock star. Collars & Cuffs Series by KC Wells Edge Series by LM Somerton Guards of Folsom series by SJD Peterson Caged and Sacrificed (Baal’s Heart Series) by Bey Deckard Grif’s Toy by Joseph Lance Tonlet. I think question 2 just answered question 1 *ahem*
BMBR: I've not yet read Sean Michael *hides*

BMBR: What's your go-to tasty beverage?
Morticia: Non-adult: Diet/Decaf Arizona Green Tea. Shazam! Adult: This could take days, so I’ll narrow it down to just one: Adios Motherfucker!

BMBR: Do you have any secret talents? Inquiring minds want to know.
Morticia: Does trance channeling my lizard’s thoughts count? I’m not really sure I can do that, so I should pick something else just in case. I can kick ass singing hard rock. This I know I can do because there’s audio and video evidence. The lizard thing might’ve been a hallucination.
BMBR: Channeling your lizard's thoughts totally counts. That sounds awesome.

BMBR: If you had to choose to be one magical beast, what would it be and why? (you don't have to say unicorn...but we won't say neigh either)
Morticia: I want to be Shadowfax from The Lord of the Rings. Primarily because I’m a LOTR geek and because Ian McKellan could ride me. *double snort*
BMBR: That's the best reason I've ever heard.

BMBR: Who's your favorite porn star?
Morticia: I have to go with Jordan Levine because we hung out every night at GRL. Seriously, he’s the nicest dude with a great sense of humor. Oh, and he’s really hot. But I also hold a special place in my filthy little heart for Jesse Jackman and Dirk Caber.
BMBR: "...because we hung out every night at GRL." *jealous*

BMBR: Do you have author envy? Whose words do you read and think, "GAH, I wish I wrote that!"?
Morticia: Um, everything Sean Michael has ever written (sense a pattern here?) But I have to say that I was really affected by Leta Blake’s Training Season and Amelia Gormley’s Strain. They were both intense and emotional and I would love to be able to evoke feelings like that.

BMBR: Any new projects you're currently working on?
Morticia: Speaking of BDSM. I have a new series spun-off from the Gin & Jazz world called The Hampton Road Club series. Book 1, Hesitant Heart is out today. Yay! I’m also working on Book 2 of Sin City Uniforms, I have a Biker novella (Biking Bad) coming out soon, and I’ll be working on expanding my Love’s Landscape story, Soaring Past Death, into a novel length book for 2015.
BMBR: I'm super excited about Hesitant Heart, more Sin City, bikers and SOARING PAST DEATH WILL BE FULL LENGTH?!? OMG. *dies*

Thank you so much for stopping by and chatting with us, Morticia!

About the Author:
Erotic Romance author Morticia Knight enjoys a good saucy M/M or M/M/F tale, whether it is contemporary, paranormal, historical, Sci-fi or BDSM - she loves it all! One of her passions is bringing people's fantasies to life on the page, because life is too short for even one boring moment. Her stories are volcanic in heat, deep in emotion, and sprinkled with doses of humor. When not indulging in her passion for books, she loves the outdoors, film and music. Once upon a time she was the singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio.

  7. What is my fave M/M theme? Well, that all depends in my mood. When i'm into historical I read several books in a go. Same goes with contemporary, paranormal, sci-fi, lots of drama and bunches of action, etc. So, to me, it's all in the mood but all in all, I like reading any and everything that ends in HEA, very few times do I enjoy a bittersweet end. Oh, and one of the things I enjoy the most is time travel.
Thanks for a great interview and giveaway!

  8. I like so much, but the one theme that I seem to buy every time I see it is one MC has a child, either from a marriage/one night stand/etc. Anyway he was also widowed/dumped and meets and falls for the new guy with precocious child in tow.

  10. In the words of Emily Dickinson,"There is no frigate like a book, to take us Lands away". I like to read, its my form of escapism and even if I am reading more books now that have a MM theme, be it cowboys or elves, wolf shifters, actors or aliens, basically they are mostly romance stories that take me to a happy place, away from all that ails me. :)
