Take it away, Shira...

Happy birthday Boy Meets Boy!!! I’m Shira Anthony, here to celebrate the third anniversary of your wonderful blog with a giveaway and a quick story to go with it. Be sure to read to the bottom for details about how you can win the entire Mermen of Ea trilogy from Dreamspinner Press in ebook format!

As some of you may know, I write in a lot of different sub-genres of gay romance. Not all my stories are taken from my personal experiences, but two series in particular are: Blue Notes (contemporary romances about classical and jazz musicians) and The Mermen of Ea (high fantasy mermen shifters).

Mermen from personal experiences? Well, yes. No, I haven’t met a merman, even though I keep looking for them. But my husband and I own a catamaran sailboat and have spent many years now sailing at the North Carolina coast.

The idea for the Mermen of Ea came when I was writing a pirate story. Taren was a slave, kidnapped by pirates, who falls for the pirate captain. Enemies to lovers. Captor/captive. You get the idea. But around that time, we were sailing and saw a huge pod of dolphins swim by our boat. About 2 dozen of those gorgeous creatures, who followed the boat and dove around it.

A few months later, my husband and I got our open water SCUBA certification in the Caribbean. I imagined what it might be like to swim without all the heavy gear. And, of course, my imagination went wild. That’s when Taren announced that he wasn’t human at all: he was a mer-shifter. An Ea. My mermen are not fish, but are anatomically similar to dolphins (read: they have the same man-bits as humans when they are in mer-form).

So to celebrate Boy Meets Boy Reviews birthday, you have a chance to win the complete Mermen of Ea Trilogy. And I’ll leave you with a clip of me with all my gear getting ready for our last scuba trip with a test dive in our local diving pool. Thanks for stopping by! –Shira

About Shira:
In her last incarnation, Shira Anthony was a professional opera singer, performing roles in such operas as ToscaPagliacci, and La Traviata, among others. She’s given up TV for evenings spent with her laptop, and she never goes anywhere without a pile of unread M/M romance on her Kindle.
Shira is married with two children and two insane dogs, and when she’s not writing, she is usually in a courtroom trying to make the world safer for children.  When she’s not working, she can be found aboard a 35’ catamaran at the Carolina coast with her favorite sexy captain at the wheel.
Shira can be found on Facebook, Goodreads, Twitter (@WriterShira) or on her web site, http://www.shiraanthony.com. You can also contact her at shiraanthony@hotmail.com. You can find all of Shira’s books at Dreamspinner Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and All Romance Ebooks.

  1. I haven't met a shifter type I haven't liked. Haven't read a merman book before, so I would have to say right now my favorite shifter type is dragons. But maybe after I read these books, it'll be mermen. :-)

  3. I love shifters, all of them, it is so difficult to choose one type; if I have to, I guess I go for wolves because they were my first!

  7. The type of shifter story I read most is Wolves, perhaps because so many authors write about them. I've read of many others as well, but wolves always stick with me. Maybe because they are one of my actual favorite species.
    Much success, Shira!
