Lucky Tyler Holloway has never felt particularly lucky. Frankly, he's as regular as can be. He works construction with his brothers, loves his small-town life, and shares a close bond with his family, especially his grandmother. Okay, so maybe he has a few secrets in his closet, like his bisexuality…and that other thing he doesn’t talk about…
Grayson ‘Saint’ St. Claire has it all: a dream job in LA, money, freedom. Saint doesn’t do attachments, which is just the way he likes it. Still, he’d be lying if he didn’t admit he missed his deceased parents, the only family he had... Until he gets an email from some guy named Tyler, revealing the existence of a grandmother he’s never met, prompting Saint to drop everything and drive across the country.
Saint and Tyler couldn't be more different. Tyler dislikes Saint on sight, but there's something about Tyler that gets under Saint's skin. It’s not until they get to know one another that everything begins to change for the better. But the Holloways and St. Claires have secrets, their pasts tied together in tragic ways. With the odds stacked against them, Saint and Tyler have to face the fact that love alone might not be enough…
I find Riley Hart’s stories to always been engaging. I’ve enjoyed a fair few over the years and try to pick up her work as soon as it’s out.
Tyler (aka Lucky) and Saint are complete opposites. Tyler is devoted to his family and the simple pleasures, whereas Saint is a city guy who loves to work and be surrounded by busyness.
Even though Tyler is the one to reach out to Saint, Tyler has an instant issue with him once they meet and the exchange is one of my favourite parts of the book.
Tyler with his righteous indignation and Saint’s instant dislike of the judgement. It is the only time I enjoy these type of miscommunications. There’s nothing worse than having an instant lust-hate relationship with someone over false assumptions, but it’s the best for me to read about. You know that all that UST is going to burn up the page once they let fly.
This was pretty slow burn, but it was definitely worth the wait. When they finally connected it was scorching, and their chemistry stayed hot throughout. Riley Hart definitely knows how to write a passionate sex scene. I know I’m going to enjoy it every time.
This story focused a lot on family bonds, and Saint’s grandmother attempting to connect with a grandson she never knew. It was a little heartbreaking but warming as well. Strong family is important and unfortunately for Saint he hasn’t had that in a while. There were some hard revelations, but it helped us know Saint’s grandmother Alice, and I was really pleased that this focused just as much on his growing relationship with her as it did with his relationship with Tyler.
There is a secret Tyler hides from Saint for a fair amount of the book, and it is pretty sexy when it is finally revealed. Make what you will of that. I won’t tell.
Recommended to readers who enjoy contemporary romance. If you’ve read Riley Hart before and liked it, I know you’ll like this too.

Review: Color Me In (Last Chance #2) by Riley Hart
Caleb White has been a lot of places and made a lot of decisions he isn’t proud of. He’s ready to settle down and figure out who he really is. Where better to do that than Last Chance, the home he was ripped away from at sixteen? A fresh start is in order, but he has no idea how to do that when he’s not even sure what he wants in the first place.
Ryan Daily is a pro at hiding his insecurities. He’s never fit in and has spent most of his life knowing there’s something missing. Just when he thought he’d found it, his whole world fell apart and he lost everything.
Then comes a sleepless night in a twenty-four-hour cafĂ©, where Caleb and Ryan forge a connection full of laughs, junk food, and whispered secrets. In the middle of their budding friendship, desire blooms unexpectedly. Ryan has kept his heart protected after having it shattered, and Caleb—no stranger to attraction—finds that what he has with Ryan is on a whole new level from anything he’s experienced before. In a world of black and white, they bring each other color.
But life is never simple. When the past comes knocking, Ryan and Caleb will have to reach through the darkness to find the light they see in each other…or risk slipping into the shadows for good.
I just realized this is my first Riley Hart. Apparently I've shelved her books numerous times but never pulled the trigger on actually reading one. For shame.
I can see why people enjoy reading her work because this was very sweet, cozy. Color Me In is a story about second chances in a variety of different ways. Both Caleb and Ryan have suffered heartbreaks and missteps that have led them to Last Chance, a sleepy Oregon town that had me hearing a refrain of Angelo Badalamenti tunes. Don't ask. My brain is a strange place sometimes.
Anyway, both Caleb and Ryan tell their story of falling in love which I appreciated since Ryan has never been in a same sex relationship before. It was fun to see their differing perspectives on their shared experiences.
They become friends then roommates then more. Maybe Ryan's progression from friends to lovers was a little unbelievable but it fits into this particular romance algorithm. Ryan learns through his friendship with Caleb that he's demisexual. The portrayal of demisexuality I found illuminating and touching. He truly believed there was something wrong with him until he befriended Caleb and the weight of that burden was stifling for him. Watching that burden lift off him was satisfying as a reader as was seeing him embrace his "newfound" sexuality. He also endeared himself to me with how honest he was with both himself and Caleb. No game playing. No shenanigans. Just trying to find his way as best he can.
They have chemistry and for the most part I found the progression of their sexual relationship believable. They both seem to enjoy dirty talk which ordinarily I do as well but there were times that it was a bit too awkward for me. Nonetheless, if you're a reader that enjoys an abundance of smexy times, this book will satisfy your cravings.
The conflict is a plausible one and I like that Hart refrained from making Danielle into the second coming of the wicked witch of the west. Actually, all the female characters were likable which was quite refreshing for a MMRomancelandia read.
Shane and Van who both have connections to Caleb's past and were the protags from book one are featured heavily and I liked both of them. They added to the narrative in positive ways and at some point I want to backtrack and read their story.
Both men seem to benefit positively from their relationship which is something that always appeals to me as a reader. There is some angst but I didn't find it overwhelming. I also thoroughly enjoyed that they both find acceptance where they thought they wouldn't something that enriched their HEA for me.
The endearments that became platitudinous is a minor quibble. I did enjoy this story and found it comforting but there was something intangible missing that I can't define that stymied my emotional connection to this narrative.
However, if you are a fan of hurt/comfort and enjoy sexy stories, Color Me In is a nice diversion.

EXCERPT
Fuck. He really hated Sienna right now. But the truth was, Tyler was attracted to Saint, and he sort of hated himself for it. Saint represented everything that annoyed the shit out of Tyler. He was arrogant and full of himself. He had money, and he wanted everyone to know it. He obviously had a grudge against or didn’t understand small-town life. They were too different, so the attraction didn’t make much sense. You don’t have to know or like someone to think they’re sexy. Ugh. Truth. He shifted uncomfortably. “You’re crazy. I don’t even like the guy.”
“And?” Sienna asked. “Since when do we have to like someone to be attracted to them? I know you’re Mr. Nice Guy, but hate sex is some of the best sex you can have. Billy and I—”
“Can you not?” Tyler cut her off. “I don’t want to hear any more about your sex life with Billy, and there’s no chance I’d have sex with Saint—hate sex or not.” Jesus, were they really going to do this? “Plus…even if I wanted to have sex with him—which again, I don’t—I’m not into fucking someone I don’t like, especially the first time I’m with a man, and I’m sure he’s straight anyway.” Just like everyone assumed Tyler was straight…and he had himself until he’d admitted the attractions he’d felt.
He couldn’t believe he was having this conversation. He wanted to go back to before he’d admitted to Sienna he thought he might be bi. Well, he was pretty sure he was obviously bi. But it just felt…strange to have this conversation with her. To discuss his sexuality, which he was still working through himself, a sexuality he hadn’t yet explored outside of a kiss. How in the world did someone know if another man was gay or bi anyway? Hell, the man who kissed him had done it without any confirmation from Tyler. How had he known it wasn’t a quick way to get his ass beat—or worse?
Sienna reached over and patted his thigh. “Oh, my dear, sweet friend. You are so innocent sometimes. He was totally checking you out.”
“He was?” slipped out before Tyler could hold it back. “I mean, I don’t care if he was. I’m not interested. This isn’t a game to me, Si.”
She sighed, and he could see the guilt in her eyes. “You think I don’t know that? I want you to have every experience, though.” She moved the bowl from between them and leaned against his side. Tyler wrapped his arm around her, Sienna’s head in the crook. “I’m sorry. I know I’m a little much sometimes. I definitely don’t want to push away the one person who always stays. I don’t know what I’d ever do without you.”
“Hey.” He tilted her head toward him. “I’m not the only one who stays, and I’d never leave you. I hope you’re not talking about Billy either. You walked away from him, and you should have. That’s nothing on you.”
“I know. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” She snuggled into him again, and he thought, not for the first time, how much easier life would be if he were in love with Sienna. Not just because she was a woman. There were other single women in town, and if he were interested, he could date them. He had dated some of them, but he and Sienna had always gotten each other on a different level. They understood each other and cared about each other. They had fun together, but anything other than friendship wasn’t there between them. Not on Tyler’s side, nor hers.
“I don’t ever want anything to hold you back. You’re the best person I know. Why shouldn’t you have every experience possible? Why shouldn’t you know what it’s like to be with a man? And he’s sort of the perfect person because he’s leaving and he wants to jump your bones. I could see it."

Review: His Truth by Riley Hart
They were only kids when they met for the first time. Leo Mancini was the son of a judge. Roman Cipriani the son of a criminal. So different, yet as they shared stolen kisses and secret moments, they fell in love. One day they would run away together, have the future they deserved, because no one loved Leo like Roman did, or Roman like Leo did. But before they could make their dreams come true, their future was viciously stolen and their lives changed forever.
Roman has spent the last twelve years repressing the trauma in his past, trying to pretend it didn't exist, until even he believed his own lies.
Leo won't let himself forget what happened because he doesn't ever want to be that person again. He won't become the man his father wanted him to be or the guy who gets hurt when he lets someone in.
But in that split second when their eyes meet again, everything changes. Despite Leo's anger and Roman's denial, the connection they shared as teens is still there, too powerful to deny. Now, when their moments don't have to be stolen, they cling to what they've always craved--each other.
Roman and Leo aren't kids anymore, though--they can't lock themselves away from the world and pretend nothing exists but each other. A trauma like Roman suffered doesn't just go away, but now that Roman accepts his truth, can the two of them escape their demons before they destroy Roman and Leo a second time?
Possible triggers: violence and homophobia
What is it about adulthood that takes something so pure and over analyses it until it no longer resembles anything recogniseable. A simple truth that turns into murky swampland that no one can see the bottom of, simply by convincing yourself it isn’t your truth.
Leo and Roman had something beautiful and pure when they were in their teens. Hidden inside the lonely walls of Leo’s parents mansion, Roman and Leo could be themselves and explore their love for each other. Roman felt like he could transcend the criminal life his father laid out for him and be something more with Leo. But that all changed when a brutal event breaks something fundamental inside Roman and locks down the part of him that loves Leo.
This story was hard. I can see why the author needed time with it and waited. I’m glad she did. This wouldn’t be what it was without the attention to detail put into it after years of reviewing it to get it right. I’ve enjoyed Riley Hart’s other work, but this is something more. These men deserved the attention and care that was put into this story.
After reconnecting with Leo by chance, Roman immerses himself in the present and tries to ignore the wounds that are festering inside him from his past. Letting go of the past is one thing, but that is not what Roman is doing. Ignoring problems never works for long, and this is something that Roman is starting to find out, even if he appears unaware at times. It isn’t until a triggering event occurs, that Roman finally sees how damaged he is.
I loved these two men. They had mountains to climb to be able to overcome all the past pain they felt. When Roman jumped in and immersed himself in Leo, I could see the trainwreck coming. Even Leo could see it, but had no clue what he was doing, or how it would impact both of them.
I felt their connection throughout the story, even when they were holding back from each other. Sometimes it was overwhelming, and sometimes it simmered just out of reach. The one thing I didn’t really see was Leo’s support crew. He seemed to hold himself back from everyone, even though he was extremely social and popular. I felt like he didn’t have someone firmly in his corner to support him while he supported Roman. This made me sad for him and really showed how much the past messed him up too.
This will be a re-read for me. There’s something comforting about Hart’s writing style, even while her men aren’t coping. It’s familiar, but new, and I absolutely love it. This is a hurt/comfort and second chance story. There is a lot to unpack in it, and I sat and reflected on a lot while reading. Part of the experience was sitting with my feelings and aching for them. It felt real and honest, even when they were lying to each other and themselves, about what they were doing.
I rated this on how I felt after the story, not necessarily the complete execution of it. There were some parts I picked at in my mind, and may have rated down for, if it wasn’t for the overall experience of reading this.
I would recommend this for all readers who enjoy hurt/comfort stories. There are some really hard parts, and some flashbacks to trauma. The author has content warnings at the beginning, so make sure you’re okay before diving in with these men.

EXCERPT
It was close to ten when Roman’s phone rang. His pulse kicked up, and when he saw Leo’s name on the screen, he fumbled ridiculously picking it up. It was Friday night, so he’d assumed Leo would be at work. He hadn’t expected to hear from him. “Hello?”“Hey, Tough Guy. What are you doing?” Roman wasn’t sure why, but his pulse sped again at the old nickname. He listened but didn’t hear music or anything in the background. “You didn’t have to work tonight?” he asked.
“I’m on break. I borrowed the keys to someone’s car, so I’m sitting in it. Needed some quiet. How was work?”
“Work was work. I had too many meetings and a few unhappy clients.”
“Sounds like your day was about as good as mine.”
They were quiet for a few moments. Roman wasn’t sure what to say. There was something different about Leo right now, but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was. “What did you do today?” he finally asked.
“Nothing important.”
Leo’s words sounded like a lie. No, he knew they were a lie. He’d always been able to tell when Leo was having a bad day or wasn’t being truthful with him. “I don’t believe you.”
There was a soft chuckle on the other end of the line. “I never could lie to you. I went to see my parents. It was a shitty day. I don’t want to talk about it. Where are you?”
Curiosity almost made him refuse to answer Leo’s question, but somehow he knew now wasn’t the time to talk about it. That wasn’t what Leo needed. “Lying in my bed.” At ten on a Friday night. He really needed to get a life. What would Leo do after work tonight? Would he bring someone home with him? The thought made Roman’s gut churn, but it wasn’t as if he had any claim on Leo. They hadn’t discussed anything.
“Have you done what I told you to do?” Leo asked, confusing him.
“What was that?”
“Finger yourself. Get to know your body.”
Roman immediately tensed up and hated himself for it. There was nothing wrong with masturbating. He’d jerked off too many times to count. Most people did, but this was different.
“Do it for me now, Ro,” Leo said, obviously not needing Roman to answer him.
“What? No.”There was a voice in his head telling him it wasn’t a big deal. Phone sex. People did it all the time. He felt like a novice when it came to being sexual. He’d worked hard to please Amy or other women he’d been with, but he wasn’t the kind of man who had phone sex or anything like that.
“Yes. You can do it. I don’t have much time, though. Let’s see…If I can make you come before I get back to work, what do I get?”
Roman didn’t answer. The truth was, he couldn’t imagine putting a finger up his own ass while he was on the phone with Leo.
“The only way to move forward is to let go of the past.”Leo’s words burst through his thoughts. They were true, another truth Roman needed to accept.
“Are you wearing anything?” Leo asked.
“Just my underwear.”
“Take them off for me. You have such a beautiful body. I couldn’t stop looking at it the other night.”
It was clearly a distraction, but…fuck, Roman thought maybe he wanted this too. Wanted to let loose and just do the kinds of things people dating did. He didn’t want to think about things that hurt or things that were hard, and he knew Leo didn’t either.
Roman did his best to turn his brain off, took a deep breath, and pulled his underwear down his legs. He kicked out of them and then pushed the blanket down so he was completely bare in the middle of his bed. “Okay, they’re off,” Roman told him, realizing he really wanted to do this. “How should I lie?”

Tag Team Review: Ever After by Riley Hart & Christina Lee
As next in line for the Evergreen crown, Prince Merrick Davendall’s future involves ruling, marriage, and producing an heir of his own. But he’s long been tormented by desires that are far from princely. Especially when the beautiful Cassius is promoted to be his new valet, and Merrick is struck by a longing like never before—a longing to know him far beyond royal and servant. After his father’s passing, Cassius Havendale’s sole duty is to provide for his family. A promotion to serve a pampered prince is something he endures only for their sake. Surely Prince Merrick has no understanding of the true suffering of the common people, nor could he possibly understand what it’s like to desperately desire something he cannot have.
Except the prince is not at all what Cassius imagined. Kind, humorous, and caring to those in need, he also shares Cassius’s affinity for the arts. In fact, Merrick understands his deepest vulnerabilities in a most remarkable way.
As their affection deepens, the underlying tension between them becomes unbearable and they’re unable to ignore it any longer. But when the queen prepares a lavish ball with all the eligible ladies in the land in attendance, Merrick must fulfill his obligations to his country, and Cassius has the needs of his family to consider. They’ve long known their stolen moments would have to come to an end, but are they ready to give up one another and the idea of a happily-ever-after?
***PLEASE NOTE: EVER AFTER is a romantic fairy tale—minus the magic—that features one compassionate prince, one brooding valet, and plenty of angsty, forbidden love. It’s loosely based on a certain treasured fairy tale in a wintery make-believe setting that wouldn’t be considered contemporary but also isn’t based on any specific time period and doesn’t play by any traditional rules.

Lost in a Book - 3.5 Hearts
I had some serious grabby hands for this book. Before I cracked it open, many of my happy boxes were checked; Historical, fantasy, fairy tale spin off, difference in stations, and an interesting cover. While it didn’t live up to the excite I had going into it, it was still ridiculously sweet, with some enjoyable moments, and likable MCs.
Prince Merrick is the crown prince and his parents are trying to wife him up and knock her up so he can ensure the line of succession. He’s a dreamer and an artist with a kind heart and an affinity for men. Merrick is also loyal and squelches his desire while focusing on duty to his family, throne, and the people in his kingdom. He’s also pretty successful at keeping everything under wraps until he needs a new valet and the gorgeously intriguing, Cassius is chosen.
Cassius is under employ at the palace and moves up the ranks quickly. He’s a hard worker that focuses on providing for his family after the passing of his father. He’s enamored with Prince Merrick and helping him dress and bathe doesn’t help his attraction in the slightest.
Both men are around the same age and develop a solid bond. They understand the demands of duty and the implications of their sexuality for those around them. Especially in a time when it’s frowned upon. Their sense of duty delays a connection beyond friendship. Every After is a slooooooow burn that is full of attraction and stolen moments that were innocent- yet full of potential. Once they break the proverbial seal…yowza. They were also adorable while content to just be together in silent companionship. There wasn’t much angst other than the obvious difference in station and sexuality that led to an easy HEA.
The first 3/4 of the story had me back and forth on my enjoyment levels. All the suitor situations dragged on with the force feeding of eligible women. The pace and plot picked up around 75% causing my enjoyment level to increase. I’m just a bit confused about the historical elements. It went back and forth between trying to use Valet/Prince customs and language to then got lost and became more modern communication/convienences on the next page. I’m assuming that’s where the fantasy elements came in which requires much suspension in “reality?” Around 85% there were finally some of feels that I wish were available throughout. They left me happy but also disappointed at the missed opportunity for the rest of the book.
Let’s talk about the females in this story… LOVE them. They were written with backbones, strength, fire, loyalty, and compassion. It’s always refreshing whether in M/M of M/F to have strong characters without the need to prop one up by demeaning or short-changing another.

Overall, this book has a sweet setting, sweet MCs, sweet romance, sweet families, sweet, sweet, sweet. That’s not a bad thing and many will absolutely connect with these adorable men and their plight. I would have liked more cohesive historical elements, more action (not that kind…) to shake up the monotony, and more feels. Still, a pleasant read and recommended for those that are looking for low angst with a ginormous helping of cheesy sweetness.
R *A Reader Obsessed* - 3 Hearts
To be honest, I’m a bit torn about how I feel about this story. I can see how this could appeal to many and also, I can see how some might be not as enamored.
Prince Merrick has a lot of responsibility weighing on him. He’s to inherit the throne and needs to find a wife because most importantly, he needs to provide an heir. Funny that. Too bad he doesn’t fancy women. At all. However, Merrick knows his duty and he resigns himself to his fate, but it seems that his new valet Cassius, through no fault of his own, won’t allow Merrick to just easily fall in line and accept what he’s honor bound to do.
Cassius on the other hand, has a pretty big chip on his shoulder, having had to struggle his whole life to help support his family by working very very hard. Now, more than ever since his father has passed away, he must not jeopardize his new job as he’s the sole provider for his sick mum and two younger sisters. Cassius wants to hate Prince Merrick on principle, but as he gets to know him, he can’t help but admire all that the prince does for his people and see a caring man who’s just as trapped as he is.
I have to give credit because this is a thoughtful rumination on class differences and the weight of responsibility on both these men. It is realistic in the evolving relationship between a prince and his servant where crossing the social lines is unheard of and not condoned. The attraction and feels are organic, and the inner turmoil these men go through was heartfelt.
However, this has brought home the fact that I have a tough relationship with historicals (though this is very historical-lite in its fictional setting) which always encompasses MC’s who have to be in the closet, and it just makes me a complete nervous nelly and my overall enjoyment is quite affected. Plus, for some reason the idea of a fairy tale really appeals but ultimately, it never enchants me as much as I’d like it to. Despite my personal qualms, I'm sure many will love this very romantic story about two disparate individuals who have nary a chance at finding their happy ever after with each other. This is light in the overall angst thankfully, as well as having some good steamy scenes, but perhaps because of its fairy tale connotations, this clashed with its more contemporary leanings and thus, it felt disjointed and a bit underwhelming to me.
Regardless, Hart and Lee are typically consistent wins, and if you’re familiar with that and agree, I don’t think readers will be disappointed.
Thank you to the authors/publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Surely Prince Merrick has no understanding of true suffering of the common people, nor could he possibly understand what it’s like to desperately desire something he cannot have.
Except the prince is not at all what Cassius imagined. Kind, humorous, and caring to those in need, he also shares Cassius’ affinity for the arts.

EXCERPT
Merrick was entertaining the Duke of Cairn this morning for brunch. The king would be joining them this afternoon for ice fishing on the property. Apparently, the royal family of Cairn were avid fishermen, and when the king mentioned it a few weeks back on his visit, Merrick’s father told them about Evergreen’s abundance of freshwater trout. Merrick did not exactly enjoy the sport, but Cairn was Evergreen’s closest ally, and it was important to entertain them properly while they discussed pressing matters, including Merrick’s royal visit to their lovely countryside in the coming months.
“At breakfast I overheard the cooks going on about how handsome the duke is,” Cassius mentioned casually as he smoothed down Merrick’s coat and then picked at some lint on the lapel.
The change in topic threw Merrick, and when he did not respond, Cassius glanced up curiously at him. Merrick smirked as he wrapped his hands around Cassius’s waist and pulled him closer. “You are jealous.”
“Of course not!” he declared as his neck turned beet red. “I was only relaying the gossip in the castle.”
“Hmmm, that’s very peculiar since you’ve never seemed to be affected by gossip before,” Merrick remarked, backing him against the wardrobe, the innocent look in Cassius’s eyes completely charming.
“What are you doing?” Cassius asked, his gaze flashing toward the closed chamber door.
“I don’t give a flying fig whether the duke is handsome or not. I have never paid him any mind.” Merrick kissed his cheek. “What I do know is that a stunning man is standing before me, driving me completely mad. And I long to take his prick into my mouth.”
Cassius gasped and swayed toward him. Merrick wondered if Cassius felt just as feverish after spending such a sweet and intense moment in the woods the other day. He only dreamed to know more of him before it was too late.
“It is all I thought about last evening after you left me in the parlor room with the conservation committee,” Merrick added with a groan as he gripped the waistband of Cassius’s trousers. “I want you in my bed every night. In my arms. But I know it is an empty wish.”
“We…shouldn’t,” Cassius replied in a gruff voice even as he sank against Merrick, his prick already hard as the steel jousting stick on display in the Great Hall. “You make it quite difficult to properly concentrate on my duties.”
Merrick drew back immediately, searching Cassius’s eyes. “I am sorry. I do not want you to feel any sort of regret.”
“Never.” Cassius grasped Merrick’s hand and placed it against the bulge beneath his zipper. “But now I shall go around all day with the front of my pants uncomfortably tight while you socialize with the handsome duke.”
Merrick hissed and then promptly dropped to his knees before the valet.

EXCERPT
At eleven forty-five, he made his way downstairs to see that Ryan was already there waiting for him. They were supposed to be at Shane’s around noon. “We taking my car? I’m not sure I can be seen in yours. I have a reputation to uphold.” Caleb watched, waiting for Ryan to react to his ribbing. He did, looking up at Caleb through a fan of his dark lashes as Caleb stood on the stairs. Jesus, he was sexy as hell. His hair was messy, which Caleb fucking loved. He wore jeans—not the ones Caleb said he liked—and a button-up black shirt with long sleeves.
He looked so damn innocent, unsure, as he gave Caleb a playful grin and rolled his eyes. “Not flashy enough for ya, huh? The car doesn’t make the man, Salt Fiend.”
The silly nickname sat warm in his chest. “Oh, fuck you.” Caleb reached the bottom step. “I know what kind of man I am, thank you very much. Grab your keys. You can drive. I didn’t want to anyway. Might even take a short nap on the way home—my belly will be so full and all.”
“Well, shit.” Ryan followed behind him. “I didn’t think this through. Do I get a take-back?”
“Nope.” Caleb grabbed his jacket from the chair, then reached for Ryan’s, handing it over.
“Thanks.” His eyes darted away, looking almost bashful. “We need a coatrack.”
They’d managed to break through the first layer of tension; Caleb could feel it. Unfortunately, the bastard seemed fucking thick, and he thought they still had a way to go. “We do.”
Ryan felt his pockets, Caleb assumed, for his keys. His guess was confirmed when he pulled them out and said, “We should be on our way.”
They made it almost to the door before his stupid fucking mouth got in the way. “You look good, by the way.”
Ryan stumbled. Caleb reached out and wrapped his hand around Ryan’s bicep. “No need to get all flustered, Sweet Tooth.”
“I’m not flustered.”
“Not even a little?” Caleb asked.
“Maybe a little.”
He had a feeling that was the case. “I’ll give you space. We’re good, though? You and me? I didn’t fuck up?”
“No.” Ryan reached out then and fixed Caleb’s hood, which had accidentally gotten tucked into the back of his jacket. “You didn’t fuck up. We’re good.”
Caleb nodded. That was exactly what he needed to hear.

Guest Review: Tied to You (Wild Side #2) by Riley Hart
Miles Sorenson prides himself on his brutal honesty. Facts and logic are a hell of a lot easier to deal with than emotions. He’s got his career and a small, close-knit group of friends, and he doesn’t need nor want anything else. The total opposite of Quinn Barker, who doesn’t take life too seriously and thinks a good laugh can cure anything.
When Quinn takes Miles home, it’s supposed to be a one-time deal. Except they really click in the sack and end up spending the weekend together, enjoying each others’ bodies as much as their company…to Miles’ dismay. Matters get even more muddled when, months later, they run into each other at the popular West Hollywood bar, Wild Side, and pick up right where they left off.
On the surface, Quinn and Miles are like oil and water, but the draw between them is undeniable. As their lives further entwine, they realize there’s more to their connection than the way they singe the sheets together.
But demons from the past have a way of catching up, and no matter how strong the link is tying Miles and Quinn together, the pressure may be enough to make it snap.
Reviewer: Lost in a Book
This book was fine…but it had the potential to be great. The story, characters, and events were meticulously laid out through most of the book. Then, the main event at 90% was SO predictable and frustrating at the same time.
This story starts when Miles and Quinn meet at a bar and spend a weekend together. Both were alike in their needs for a quick, no strings attached good time while knowing that they were back to regularly scheduled programming once the weekend was complete.
From here, their relationship continues to grow. Slowly. Quinn chips away at the walls that Miles has built and each little crack is a huge victory.
There was a lot of sex in this book. A. Lot. I’m all about the sex usually…*sigh* but it was too much in this book. *gasp* I know a huge part of their relationship was sexual. But, there came point where emotions were involved and I wanted more and by more I don’t mean how they wanted tospank suck fuck. They couldn’t stop talking about “the ass.” (I had to give it an official title with how much it was discussed throughout) Don’t get me wrong, I’m usually all for reading about ass play. But if I read one more time about Quinn’s ass, how it liked to have something in it all the time and how much it wanted Miles’ dick…
There were times when I wanted to skip a sex scene. But I didn’t know if this would be one of the times where there might be some emotional growth taking place during it. So I pulled up my big girl panties and kept on going.
Miles and Quinn had a chance to form a friendship which became entertaining. They had a snarky and sarcastic style that eased some of the seriousness of Miles’ personality,
I was disappointed that it was the direction the author chose. I was even more frustrated on how the MCs reacted to it. IMHO, It felt so contrived and ruined all of the work the author spent in building their relationship.
With all of that being said, Tied to You was a decent read with fun supporting characters which were in the previous books of the series as well. When Miles’ broodiness and knee-jerk reactions weren’t getting in the way, they worked. Quinn and Miles fit well together.

This story starts when Miles and Quinn meet at a bar and spend a weekend together. Both were alike in their needs for a quick, no strings attached good time while knowing that they were back to regularly scheduled programming once the weekend was complete.
"They’d both needed to fuck, done that, and there wasn’t much more to the story.”Miles and Quinn are complete opposites. Miles is a closed off, brooding, control freak who has a tight circle of friends and family with zero room for anyone or anything else. Quinn is a very open and social person that likes to push the limits in all aspects of life. Both men have baggage from their childhood which becomes a thread that connects them.
“One plus one is always two. It’s always been two for me, but now there are all these fucking variables that make me continuously come up with a different answer.”Two months after their initial weekend hookup, they end up at the same bar again and are unable to completely ignore the presence of the other.
“So, I’m kind of like the anti-two?” Quinn asked”
“Why don’t we cut to the chase and you tell me where to meet you tonight?”
From here, their relationship continues to grow. Slowly. Quinn chips away at the walls that Miles has built and each little crack is a huge victory.
“You’re thinking. I can see the wheels turning… Do I want to tell Quinn this or not? Will I still be the gorgeous as fuck, brooding dude who oozes sex, if I say something that really matters? The answer is yes, by the way.”Everything happened so organically for Miles and Quinn. Nothing was rushed in the beginning. They started as strictly a hook up and then Miles gave Quinn his full name. This led to emails and then to texts. Texts turned into phone calls and eventually Quinn had him hooked and was slowly reeling him in.
”Why had it been Quinn he picked up in the bar that night? Why had he not only been an incredible fuck, but also charming and funny and completely annoying, which Miles also strangely found endearing?”Their emotional relationship moved at a snail’s pace which was fitting for them. The growth in their physical and emotional relationship, although subtle, was evident throughout. It was written in a way that you could feel the huge steps they were taking even though it was a seemingly small action, word, touch, look, laugh, etc... They started off so emotionally unavailable that I found myself getting excited with each baby step they took knowing that it put another crack in the foundation.
“I like him. I’m not looking to fall in love with him, and he sure as shit isn’t looking to fall in love with me. He’s got walls higher than a maximum-security prison, but I like him.

”Fucking Quinn. The man seemed to have a knack for making Miles feel less surly, which he didn’t understand.”The second half of the book read longer than the first. I found myself becoming so frustrated with Miles and his almost childlike reactions. The entire book was building to where you just knew that something HUGE was going to happen…until it doesn’t. As mentioned before, the big plot twist around 90% was extremely predictable.
“Miles pointed to the couch and said, “Sit.”
“Woof!”
His eyes went wide at Quinn’s bark. Still, he sat down.
“Do I at least get a treat for being a good boy? I really like bones.”
I was disappointed that it was the direction the author chose. I was even more frustrated on how the MCs reacted to it. IMHO, It felt so contrived and ruined all of the work the author spent in building their relationship.

”This isn’t a competition. It’s not a game of who’s been hurt the most. We both have scars, but we’re still standing. The question is, are you going to spend your whole life punishing yourself or are you going to move on?”
