Rawley isn’t the type to crush hard and fast on anyone, but he’s helpless when it comes to Reign, the new mail carrier. Unfortunately, Reign doesn’t seem to be as interested—but secrets and magic have a way of turning everything upside down and Rawley discovers he not only loves one man, he loves four.

Apparently, the doorbell worked. Not much else in the apartment complex did, but as the damn thing buzzed its loud vibrating hive of angry bees clamoring a second time, Rawley quickly understood why. The thing was so frigging annoying that it was likely never used, thereby saving it from the continual decay the rest of the place exhibited.

It was far too early for those thoughts though. Rawley groaned and scrubbed a hand over his face while levering his body off his rumpled bed and stumbling toward the door. A glance at the clock over the oven on his way past told him it was only eight thirty in the morning. Since he hadn’t gotten to bed until after six, it was pretty damned early to him.

When Rawley threw the door open, no one was there. He blinked stupidly at the empty space and then carefully leaned out and glanced down the hall with the lone, blinking light bulb overhead.

A guy glanced over his shoulder at the sound of Rawley’s door opening and quickly spun on his heel to hurry back. He was wearing a uniform, Rawley saw immediately, and it set him on his guard. Cops weren’t a welcome presence here. Then he noticed the Sylph Post logo on the breast—an artistic logo that, should Rawley twist his head just right, could read Swift Post instead—with a nametag clipped below it that read Reign. He lifted an incredulous eyebrow. Sylph Post was basically the USPS, but was privately owned. Anyone who didn’t trust the USPS or thought Sylph was faster or cheaper went with Sylph instead. Since Sylph had access to mailboxes and also shipped packages, a lot of people used them. Rawley liked not having a government organization going through his letters or coming to knock on his door, so he used Sylph almost exclusively. Still, he hadn’t expected to see one of their employees at his door.

“Mail hasn’t been delivered here in over two weeks,” Rawley drawled. He had stupidly left his gun in the drawer of his bedside table, but it wasn’t difficult to summon a fire sprite to the hand he hid behind his back.

“I know,” the courier gushed, his blue eyes wide and guileless. He held out a brown square package toward Rawley. “I’m Reign, your new Sylph deliveryman. I ended up filling your mailbox with everything else and couldn’t get this in.” The shipping label said it belonged to the supplier Rawley had ordered a part from over a week ago.

He glanced back at Reign, who was grinning uncertainly, his dirty blond hair a little too long under his official hat. That grin started to fade slightly under Rawley’s nonplussed stare, but he still resolutely held the package out. Rawley let the fire sprite fade away before slowly reaching forward to take the package. Nothing happened except the man’s grin returning at full force. He nodded politely to Rawley.

“Have a good day, sir,” Reign said before turning and heading back down the hall and to the staircase that led out of the building.

Rawley stepped back so he could close his apartment door and walked over to his small kitchen table to set the box down. He hunted up a box cutter to slash the tape holding the package shut and carefully tipped it so the packing peanuts spilled across the plastic tabletop. He half expected a trapped sprite to erupt from the box as the peanuts were rearranged, and he was more than prepared for anything that might attack him, but instead he only found the custom side panels he was adding to a customer’s crotch rocket.

Maybe Reign really had been a mail carrier?

If Rawley’s apartment was a piece of crumbling shit, the surrounding neighborhood was far worse. This was gang territory. If you didn’t have a motorcycle and came strolling through this block, you were liable to end up lynched. A couple of blocks over were a bunch of water sprite wackos; only people who held one or more water sprites under their skin were welcome. Was the guy dumb enough to deliver the mail there too? Rawley hoped not. Those big blue eyes didn’t deserve to be darkened by a violent death.

Rawley shook his head to clear those thoughts away. It wasn’t any of his business what happened to the mail carrier, no matter how pretty Reign was. Rawley took one last look at the peanuts and the side panels strewn across his kitchen table, mentally shrugged, and decided to fuck it all until he had enough sleep to actually be thinking straight again. He stumbled back across the room and gratefully dropped onto his bed. Rawley pulled the blanket up to his chin and let sleep take over.

Stitch: Outlaw biker. Deep in the closet. Doesn’t share his property.

On the day of Stitch’s divorce, lust personified enters the biker bar he’s celebrating at. What follows instead is gluttony of the most carnal sort, and nothing will ever be the same. Forced to hide his new love affair from the whole world, Stitch juggles family, club life, and crime, but it’s only a matter of time until it becomes too hard.

Zak moves to Lake Valley in search of peace and quiet, but when he puts his hand into the jaws of a Hound of Valhalla, life gets all but simple. In order to be with Stitch, Zak’s biker wet dream, he has to crawl right back into the closet. As heated as the relationship is, the secrets, the hiding, the violence, jealousy, and conservative attitudes in the town rub Zak in all the wrong ways. As club life and the love affair collide, all that’s left in Zak and Stitch’s life is mayhem.

I really need to stop doubting these two authors. I open the book up, see how long it is and think..

...but I start to read and suddenly it's like…

Seriously! Everytime I start one of their books!

Gray's Shadow ended up being soooo different to what I expected and Shadow was definitely sooo different to what I had imagined. Shadow ended up being one of the sweetest characters of the series, that's including Laurent, and he looks like this…

So yummy!

Gray was difficult to begin with and he did annoy me because Shadow was such a sweetie, I felt very protective of him. However I felt I understood Gray's struggles and while he did act like a bitch at times, I liked how it all ended.

The sex is off the charts, which you'd expect nothing less from KA Merikan. The magical aspect wasn't as creepy and previous books and everything is slowly coming to a head.

Obviously for those who don't know, this is a series that needs to be read in order. This book is not a standalone, but the rest of the series is just as good as this book, so well worth the read!

Review: On Your Knees, Prospect (Kings of Hell MC #3) by K.A. Merikan

--- There is freedom in blacking boots for the right man. ---

Jake. Kings of Hell MC Prospect. Obedient. Desperate for approval.
Vars. Dominant. Stern. Undead.

Jake is itching to become a patched member of the Kings of Hell MC.
For two years he's toiled as the only prospect. So when a new guy swans in and thinks he'll get a patch in no time just because he's got friends in high places, Jake is there to stand in his way.
Only that the guy is older, more experienced, drives a Harley, and has the kind of boots Jake craves to lick.
But he won't.
Because he only fucks patches.

Vars is ready to find a new home in the Kings of Hell MC after a messy relationship led him straight to hell. In comparison, the pretty, blue-eyed prospect could be just the pleasant rebound he needs.
The boy is a brat, but that could be amended with a firm hand and a gag.
If only Jake was ready to admit to his submissive needs, Vars would gladly take him under his wing.
That is, until he finds out something inhuman resides inside of Jake.
Vars didn’t cheat death only to call out to it again.

But stuck together in one room, keeping each other’s secrets, they might just have to become allies, no matter how unwilling. Because if there is something Vars can’t resist, it’s a boy with pleading eyes.

*

“You are mine now, boy. This room is soundproof. No one will hear you scream.”
“Yes, sir. My body is yours.”

*

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
Themes: motorcycle club, alternative lifestyles, demons, monster, tattoos, secrets, crime, self-discovery, gothic, fresh start, submission, stalking, PTSD, May/December, self-acceptance, enemies to lovers, Daddy/boy, body horror

Genre: Dark, paranormal M/M romance
Erotic content: Scorching hot, emotional, explicit scenes, BDSM

Length: ~130,000 words (Book 3 in the series)

WARNING: This story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, and morally ambiguous characters.

To say I was looking forward to this one would be an understatement. I mean…. just read that title! Spectacular!

Jake and Vars did not disappoint. The tension was Off. The. Charts. It was palpable on every page and made me want to lick it all up.

Unfortunately all the delicious sex came to a sudden holt for me when these two had their 'official’ BDSM scene. It is absolutely me personally, but I've come to love more 'creative’ type power exchanges, not so much andrew crosses and floggers. The scene was actually very well written and detailed, it just slowed the pace for me.

This is definitely less scary than the other books. It had a happier(?) feel to it, well…. until the end when we find out what the evil demons plans. All that can wait until the next book though. Still mythical and just a bit creepy though. Perfect.

I have come to love all the side characters in this intriguing series, Laurent my sweet lovely, Elliott my spoilt brat, Knight the show pony and Grey quiet but fiercely loyal. So excited for Grey's book!!!

Excerpt

Jake wouldn’t be subjected to this indignity. He hit right back at Vars, even if the man was solid as a rock. “I’m no slave! I do what I’m asked, and yes, if that means sucking dick, so be it. It’s called dedication. I bet you’ve never heard of it!”

Something flashed in Vars’s eyes, and he descended on Jake, twisting back his arms and pushing him forward as if Jake barely weighed anything. With a yelp, Jake clenched his eyes shut, unable to breathe as he braced himself for impact with the floor, but his body met hard steel instead.

Dampness started soaking into his clothes, and his chin slid over Knight’s newly-cleaned car. It smelled of detergent, sharp and unpleasant, but the large body pressing him down overpowered all his senses.

He struggled against the firm hold but knew he could put more strength into it. His mind drifted off to the leather flogger and cuffs that have occupied it from the moment Jake had made the mistake of touching Vars’s toy bag.

The cool touch of the car’s hood was a relief to his burning cheek. It was increasingly difficult to remind himself every day that Vars was a prospect like him when the man carried himself with so much authority.

“You sure of that?” Vars whispered, leaning over Jake until his lips were inches away from Jake’s ear. The movement pressed his hips tighter to Jake’s ass, and even though there was no trace of arousal in those leather pants, sensing the heat of Vars’s groin had Jake’s flesh feel like molten fire. Were Vars’s pubes salt-and-pepper as well, or had that been his imagination?

“Of what?” Jake’s voice came out trembling so heavily he didn’t recognize it at first. What was he doing? He couldn’t possibly give into this weird thing Vars was pulling him into. Vars had no right to him. No patch. And yet everything about the energy Vars exuded spoke to Jake on a level he didn’t understand.

So he stayed put and stopped the pretense of struggle.

Vars breathed fire down the back of Jake’s neck, and while his body still pressed down hard, and his powerful hands still kept Jake’s arms in a twist, something about the hold changed. Vars hesitated with his answer, his hips swaying gently against Jake’s buttocks as he inhaled and exhaled so close to Jake’s ear it was almost like shouting.

“That you want to serve. That polishing all those shoes on your knees gets your dick hard.”

Yes? No? Maybe? No. Yes.

So he might actually enjoy doing things for the members. Big deal. It was a lucky thing, since he’d been stuck as a prospect for years.

Jake couldn’t understand why he was so nervous. Why his body reacted so violently to this inquisition. Vars’s bulk pressing against him wasn’t helping with focus, but it was the hold on his arms that was making Jake’s senses spiral out of control. He’d gotten a glimmer of that when wrestling with Gray before, but there was something different about Vars holding him down. He just didn’t know what.

“I just want to please,” Jake whispered so quietly he wasn’t sure he’d be heard.

Group Review: My Dark Knight (Kings of Hell MC #2) by K.A. Merikan

Love or hate. Life or death. No inbetween. No compromise. No rules in love and war.

*

Knight. Party monster. Handsome Savage. Doesn’t do monogamy.
Elliot. Obsessive. Intense. Uncompromising.

Newly single, Knight is done with relationships. All he's interested in is bringing down The Count, an Internet personality who is tarnishing his family name. An opportunity to crush him comes when the audacious clown shows up at the Kings of Hell MC clubhouse to film for his YouTube channel. But when Knight meets Elliot, the man behind The Count, he no longer knows what to do with him.

Knight has never seen a more pathetic creature than Elliot. He’s also never met anyone who needed him more. Skinny, messed up, and a bucket of trouble as thick as tar, everything Elliot does seems to be a wordless death wish. No matter how much Knight hates Elliot’s alter ego, under the makeup and theatrics hides a fragile young guy with a passion for history, and Knight can’t help but catch Elliot every time he falls.

Elliot has bad taste in men. Always hopelessly attracted to violent brutes, his favorite is a long dead serial killer. But he gets more than he’s bargained for when he seizes an opportunity to meet the man of his dreams. The ghost is manipulative and dangerous, offering Elliot all he’s always wanted, for a price he can’t possibly pay.

Elliot is faced with an impossible choice between two men.
One alive, one dead.

One carnal and honest, one drizzling sweet, poisoned promises into his ear.
One unwilling to commit, the other promising an eternity together.
And Elliot doesn’t settle for half-measures. He craves a love that is all or nothing, passion that will consume him, and desire to burn him alive.
Elliot is ready to either get that, or die trying.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
Themes: enemies to lovers, protector, cruelty, motorcycle club, alternative lifestyles, demons, tattoos, impossible choices, deception, crime, self-discovery, healing, black magic, gothic, commitment, ghosts, possession

Genre: Dark, paranormal romance
Erotic content: Scorching hot, emotional, explicit scenes

Length: ~145,000 words (Book 2 in the series, can be read as a standalone, but it’s recommended to read book 1 first)

WARNING: This story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, and morally ambiguous characters.

Group Average!

Chelsea - 4 Hearts

Another great installment to this series! And this book in particular brings out what I love about KA Merikan, some seriously fucked up characters!! I think Elliott is the most mentally vulnerable person I've ever read about.

He will surely grate on your nerves (that is the niiicest possible way of saying that), he does a lot of stupid things and doesn't do much to redeem himself. Then Knight comes along being all heroic.

He's always standing up for Elliott and a lot of the time we can't help but think he should just run away! But then (there's always a ’but then’ with the Merikans) you start to really understand that they are kind of perfect for each other. They're both obsessive to the point of crazy and you just want them to point that obsession towards each other.

The paranormal side to this story is just as creepy as the first, if not more so!

This story was fun, edge of your seat tense and sexy as fuck, but I did not like their relationship drama. I didn't understand Knight's motivations or hesitations and it felt too contrived to really believe it. Also I felt this book did not need to be this long. It lagged in certain places that I felt could have been slightly shaved back.

If you enjoy paranormal stories with morally ambiguous characters and obsessive men, then this story will be perfect for you!

Fantasy Living - 3 Hearts

This story started off really strong. I thought Elliot AKA The Count was a hilariously creepy character and it really set the scene for the horror elements in this story.

His internal dialogue was insane, and it was clear that he had slipped into nutjob territory when he lamented at how misunderstood Fane was.

"All of a sudden, he imagined being buried where Fane's victims had been, only with no one to lovingly chew on his flesh and hug his bones to sleep."

If you’ve read book #1 (which you should… this is a series) the reader already knows about Fane and his brand of crazy. Unfortunately Elliot is unaware of the facts, and continues to romanticize the serial killer’s motives. This is what Knight and Elliott fight about constantly in the beginning of this story.

I love that the authors have mixed paranormal with their signature biker style. It creates an entirely new dilemma for these type of lawless characters. Do not mistake this for a continuation for any of the other biker series the authors have going. This is entirely new, with a completely new world building adventure. It is unique and captivating, and I think I’m going to enjoy this series while trying to figure out the paranormal arc.

Some issues I had with this book was that it was long. There were some places where it dragged, and to be honest, I didn’t really think it fit.

Elliot seemed to have a personality transplant by the 50% mark, and I can’t say I enjoyed him as much as I wanted to.

Knight was pretty annoying. His attitude towards monogamy was frustrating, when it was clear he wanted it. Every time he realised he was in a relationship, he turned into an arsehole. I was hoping he’d take the chemistry and the fact that they had so much in common and just role with it. Unfortunately for Elliot, Knight just couldn’t seem to get over himself.

The public sex was hot. As was the scene when they discovered a secret room with bodies in it. I mean, who else but Knight and Elliot, would get so wound up about their discovery. I wanted the storyline to stick to that. It’s the part I was enjoying the most. Them connecting over history and their shared discovery. Instead, it sort of fell apart after the ghostly Fane came into the picture.

For the most part this story kept me on my toes. It was fun to discover how everything was going to connect. The Asylum is certainly turning into more than it appears, and I am enjoying speculating on how this is all going to continue.

This is more paranormal than biker. The biker element hasn’t fully reached fruition yet, so I’m hoping for more development of the characters as the series progresses.

For those who enjoy ghosts and demons in their paranormal stories, this is something fun. It is definitely worth a try, and I love this author pair and their writing style. I’ve said it before though, sometimes I really connect to their stories, and sometimes it falls a bit flat for me. This story lies somewhere in between.

Lorix - 5 Hearts

Enemies-to-lovers.

I repeat, enemies-to-lovers.

I know, right! KA Merikan and enemies-to-lovers. ****GRINS WICKEDLY****

KA Merikan is one of my favourite writing duos. I mean I love them because you never quite know what you're going to read... only that boring is NOT going to be a word used to describe any part of it.

When I knew I was reviewing this book, I got the first in the series and sat down and devoured both. I couldn't read fast enough. Laurent and Beast (the MC's in book one) won my heart but fuck did I love Knight and Elliot just as much when I got to book two.

Elliot. This boy was wrapped in so much hurt and it done-did make him stooopid at some points. Sometimes I wanted to slap the sense right back into him... but I also wanted to hug him and not let go He needed a hug IMO. Actually, he needed a hug from Knight, but frankly Knight was far more able to show his affections by ploughing Elliot's arse than hugging him - and really, therein lay the problem. Because they both needed a hug. Honestly they did.

Of course if it was that simple the book would have been ridiculously short and the hot, kink would not have been there.... and frankly that would have been a shame. More than a shame. A travesty because Merikan kink is hawt.

Knight is now one of my favourite Merikan characters. I mean who doesn't love a knight coming to the rescue, even if it is in his own bad-boy way? White knights are so last century, bad boy knights are the way forward. A bad boy knight whose heart isn't as dark as it seems.

With twist and turns, a heat factor to melt the sturdiest of knickers and a paranormal flavour this book is an absolute winner.Written with a uniqueness that is pure Merikan, this is one of my favourite 2017 reads and I CANNOT wait for the next in the series.
