Tag Team Review: Caulky (Four Bears Construction #1) by K.M. Neuhold

Ren is in desperate need of a rebound fling. Lucky for him, the smoking hot contractor he hired has just the tool for the job.

The last thing I want is another relationship or another broken heart.

All I need are my bees and the occasional hookup to scratch the itch.

Okay, maybe meeting up with my hot contractor weekly is a little more than occasional. And maybe the way I’m starting to feel about the guy I’ve been anonymously chatting with online should concern me.

But CaulkyAF doesn’t want to meet, and Cole doesn’t want anything serious, so what’s the worst that could happen?

**** Caulky is book 1 in the Four Bears Construction Series and can be read as a stand-alone. This is a funny, steamy MM story guaranteed to make you laugh and swoon. Absolutely NO cheating and NO love triangle. This series does NOT contain shifters, it's the OTHER kind of bears.

Shee Reader - 5 Hearts

This is a gorgeous book! I adored both Cole and Ren (although Cole was possibly too good to be true?) and the online chatting angle is adorable.

Ren’s ex did a bit of a number on his self esteem and he can’t face another relationship. He’s after hot sex and that’s exactly what he gets, at first. The pesky feelings soon follow!

I liked the story and the writing. The characters are enjoyable and endearing, whilst being fun and Ran was pretty relatable, amirite? The dialogue is cute and I loved Cole getting teased by his business partners. Ren’s best friend is a bit of a hot mess too, and I’d love to see him get his HEA (hopefully with one of the other bears?????)

I really appreciated that this book included lots of good clear communication, even if that wasn’t present in all their contact.

I will be looking out for the rest of the bears to get their HEAs, hopefully soon!

I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Ann - 4 Hearts

Such a sweet tale of bears and bees. I do like that scenario much better than birds and bees. No offense to birds, but they definitely can’t compete with bears. Ever.

I really liked how the author drove the characters down their paths, both separately and together. The story came from two different places, but they melded together seamlessly in the end. Ren/Rebound and Cole/CaulkyAF had chemisty for days straight from the first meeting. Or, I should say, the first meetings. As the two of them met more than once, in person and again online.

Firstly they met in person at a bar and had a hot-as-all-hell one night stand that scratched all their itches and then some. And thennnnnn, they met again as Contractor and Customer. The attraction they felt clashed with the discomfort at coming face to face with the person they never thought they’d see again, but that’s where the fun was. The correct level of angst was delivered with the push and pull as these two had to interact in RL.

At the same time there were online convos between Rebound and CaulkyAF. These were my favorite interactions (not counting the ridiculous levels of steam delivered during their in-person interludes). They became friends online and I think that was the catalyst for them to let all their commitment fears go because they realized how good it feels to have feelings.

It was really sweet, especially since we, as the readers, are privy to the big secret that they MC’s aren’t. It made for an easier read and removed the miscommunication frustration that can sometimes happen. It also gave the guys more well fleshed out personalities because I got to see them in more than one social light as well as be in their heads. Honestly, I really wanted to like Cole more than I did in person. On paper, he was a total treat, but that much cockiness isn’t my flavor. But, his interactions as CaulkyAF with Rebound and later as the more emotionally mature Cole, I absolutely loved him. He was open, honest, considerate, vulnerable and all the other good adjectives.

I’m here for this series and can’t wait to read each bear tale as they come along.
