Anniversary Shenanigans: Love Letter & Giveaway - Dear Goodreads

We were busting our horns on how to spread the power of what made unicorns start this entire thing and then it hit us...Goodreads. So we're taking our two things that have become a part of our lives, books and GR and well...check out the end result because there is a giveaway attached!

Dear Goodreads,

We all know who you are. You're a website dedicated to books. "What kind of a crazy idea is that?" some people may ask. Well, those people don't know the power of words and the way books can bring people together.

You may not know this, Goodreads, but you are a matchmaker extraordinaire. Over two years ago you brought together a group of unicorns. Unicorns who thought they were individual, unmatched creatures destined to roam this earth in solitude without anyone with whom to share their glory and splendor. But then! Thanks to a story thread that is now infamous in unicornian circles, we came together to discover WE WERE NOT ALONE. :D *cue unicorn horn clinking and rainbow prancing*

We were NOT alone! And we had a place to call our own! In a tiny corner of the Goodreads universe, the Unicorn Mafia became a reality. We laughed. We cried. We traded peen book recommendations. We bonded over how to pronounce Jake Bass's last name and whether Colby Keller is hotness personified or just looks like a homeless guy (we know at least one uni thinks this, but we love 'em anyway). *mwah* Needless to say, it was pure magic!

While you've given us your share of ups and downs over the years, you will always have a special place in our uni hearts because you brought us together. You gave us wonderful resources such as groups in which to gather and book chatter through which to discover new reads. There's an entire group on Goodreads dedicated to M/M Romance, and we've read hundreds of free stories thanks to their efforts over the years. We adore free stuff and books, so this is basically gifting us with chocolates and diamonds, y'know.

Basically, you're pretty cool, Goodreads.

Keep up the good work. ;)

P.S. Cut down on the glitches. M'kay?

Sincerely,
The Unis

  4. As a reader, Goodreads is my favourite tool in finding the books that I want to read. It may well have some little quirks that need ironing out occasionally, but a few creases shows character and to bring the unicorns together? Perfect.

  6. This is so true! Goodreads is such a great site! I'm always reading and love getting recommendations from my friends or even just other members' reviews as to what to read next. Plus it helped me branch out to all these other sites such as The Unicorn Mafia's Boy Meet Boy Reviews! :)

  8. Great letter! I use Goodreads every day to find books, read reviews/discussions, learn about authors, keep track of my book hoard and figure out what I want to read next. I am not sure how I managed without it in the dark ages. ;-)

  9. Yes, at times Goodreads annoys the snot out of me. But I spend more time there than anywhere else on the webz. And I have more virtual friends there than anywhere else. Because I would be lost without books, so Goodreads at least helps me keep track of my stuff - legacylandlisa@gmail.com

  11. As a slave to HEA (or HFN if I can imagine a HEA occurring later) I would search for reviews on books before I dared buy them. And then I found Goodreads. It is my #1 go to site for book descriptions, honest reviews and communities of reading addicts. I just wish my phone allowed the series name next to a book title to link to the rest of the series, like it does on my laptop.

  16. I didn't join for the longest time thinking that there wasn't a point. But I've enjoyed meeting everyone in the MM romance group. And oddly I've loved having my books organized. :)
