Andy’s planning a feast but it has nothing to do with a holiday and everything to do with the sexy shifter whose heart he’s determined to win.
Andy Cunningham wasn’t thrilled with his month in the charity calendar event—he kind of thought November was a bit undignified. But when he meets Kerry, a sexy buck shifter at the calendar release party, he forgets all about posing during Turkey month and starts planning ways to catch Kerry’s attention—and his heart.
Reviewer: Shee Reader
This is another lovely book in a superbly engaging and enjoyable series. This book follows Andy and Kerry and has the usual charm, sexiness and a bit of threat/violence and a good old fashioned HEA.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, and have particularly loved the range of shifters included, and the huge variety of different men and backgrounds included. All the books have been fun reads, and this is no different.
Andy is in the calendar, and at the release party meets Kerry, who’s working as a bartender to help out his brother, the caterer. The two men hit it off immediately and decide to meet up for a hot night of fun. What they didn’t expect was for their hearts to get involved.
It’s very insta-lust becomes insta-love and if you like that kind of think, this quick little read could be just what you’re looking for.
I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Excerpt
Trance music, which I hate, blared into the streets from the club. Since I hadn’t been dancing in West Hollywood since college, walking into Euphoria was surreal. The faces were different, but nothing had changed.
The bartender yelled over the music, “What can I get for you?”
“A Rolling Rock,” I yelled back. I gave him my credit card and told him I’d run a tab.
Near the bar was a platform where a go-go boy was dancing. He was young, scrawny, pasty white, and had a red mohawk. The crowd paid no attention, and he frowned. I made a mental note to tip him on my way out.
Further back in the bar, another dancer dominated the crowd’s attention. I recognized his rich, dark, perfectly defined body from Club Silver Lake’s security videos. What got him the most attention was what he was packing below. His thong had to have been custom made. It wasn’t possible for him to fit into something off the shelf.
“Is that Christian?” I yelled to the bartender.
“If you’re asking, you must be from out of town, or you don’t get out much,” he hollered back.
“Touché,” I replied. “What’s his usual?”
“A tequila shot with a Corona chaser.”
“Set them up for me for his next break,” I said, thinking it might be necessary to loosen him up before questioning.
I grabbed the three drinks—his tequila and chaser, and my beer—and moved to a table near Christian. He rolled his magnificent stomach, then turned and shook his bubble butt at the crowd. Cheers drowned the music as he played with his honey-colored thong—pulling it down just enough to throw them into a frenzy, then raising it again to groans of disappointment. His face was rugged yet boyish with his wide smile and deep dimples. The bucks were flying.
Christian stepped off the platform as I downed the last of my beer. I grabbed his drinks and rushed behind him, through the rows of sweaty men, to the back of the bar. I was too slow. He entered his dressing room before I could catch him.
I knocked.
The door opened. “What?”
“I ordered these for you.”
He took the tequila shot from my hand and downed it, then grabbed the beer. “Thanks,” he snapped and closed the door.
I knocked again.
The door flew open. “Thanks for the drinks,” he shouted, “but I’m on break and need my space.”
I held out my hand to shake. “Hi, Christian. I’m Mitch O’Reilly. I–—”
I narrowly escaped him cutting off my hand as he slammed the door shut.
I was shocked that he actually opened the door when I knocked again, and I stuck out my foot so he couldn’t slam it again. “Not to disappoint you, but I’m not here as a fan. I’m the private investigator hired to look into Victor Verboom’s murder.”
He took the business card I held out and tossed to the floor. The room was nothing more than a closet with a single wooden chair, and a bookcase stacked with clothing.
“What do you want?”
“You were at Club Silver Lake the night he was murdered.”
“Yeah. What of it?” His voice was smoky.
“I’m meeting with all the suspects.”
He turned his head quickly. “I’m a suspect?”
“You were there, weren’t you?”
“Uh, yes.” He looked back and forth through the club and took a step back. “I’ll put some clothes on, and we’ll go to my car. Meet me out front.”
I wasn’t on the sidewalk long before he trotted out wearing jeans and a white tank top. He motioned me to follow him to a light blue Mustang. It looked new. “When I can’t get any peace in there, I come out here on my breaks.”
“Nice car. Not a bad ride for a nightclub dancer. You must do pretty well on that platform.”
“Screw the car. What do you want?”

A Chip and a Chair, the conclusion to
the Seven of Spades series!
Just as the Seven of Spades investigation
is closing in, an act of terror devastates Las Vegas. In order to save the city
they love, Levi and Dominic may need the help of the very killer they’ve been
hunting…
About A Chip and a Chair
It's time to lay all the
cards on the table.
Detective Levi Abrams and PI Dominic Russo are reunited
and more committed to each other than ever, but they can’t truly move forward
with their lives until the serial killer who’s been tormenting them is behind
bars. When a secret burial site is discovered in the desert with the remains of
the Seven of Spades’s earliest victims, that goal finally seems within reach.
But just as the net is tightening, the neo-Nazi militia
Utopia launches their master plan with a devastating act of terror that changes
the landscape of Las Vegas forever. As Levi and Dominic scramble to prevent the
city’s destruction, they’re opposed by treacherous forces that propel them
toward catastrophe. In the end, Levi’s fate may rest in the hands of the very
killer he’s been hunting.
The race to save Sin City is on, and these players are
going for broke. No matter how hopeless things seem, as long as they’re
together and they’ve got a chip to play and a chair to sit in, they’re still in
the game.
About the Seven of Spades Series
Las Vegas has never seen a serial killer
like the Seven of Spades.
The self-styled vigilante is on a mission
to cut down the wicked and treacherous, and Sin City has no shortage of targets
for their bloody wrath. What happens in Vegas . . . ends with the Seven of
Spades’s calling card on a grisly corpse.
Standing against the killer are Levi
Abrams, a dedicated homicide detective locked in a constant struggle to
restrain his own dark side, and bounty hunter Dominic Russo, a charming rogue
with a heavy secret weighing on his shoulders.
The hunt for the Seven of Spades sends Levi
and Dominic on a collision course, igniting a passionate relationship forged in
conflict and sealed with blood. Together they’re stronger than the sum of their
parts, but a wily, elusive serial killer isn’t the only threat that will strain
their bond to the breaking point.
Ante up, because the Seven of Spades is
all in. Are you?

Review: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
A big-hearted romantic comedy in which First Son Alex falls in love with Prince Henry of Wales after an incident of international proportions forces them to pretend to be best friends...
First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations.
The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince. Alex is busy enough handling his mother’s bloodthirsty opponents and his own political ambitions without an uptight royal slowing him down. But beneath Henry’s Prince Charming veneer, there’s a soft-hearted eccentric with a dry sense of humor and more than one ghost haunting him.
As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. And Henry throws everything into question for Alex, an impulsive, charming guy who thought he knew everything: What is worth the sacrifice? How do you do all the good you can do? And, most importantly, how will history remember you?

BLUE Texas in 2020! WOO! 🎵
Anyhoo, I think it's safe to say if a book makes you break into show tunes, it's prolly pretty great. This story was exactly what I needed-light, fluffy and warmed me up from the inside out with its hopefulness and optimism. Part enemies to lovers story and part coming of age story, it's smart and engaging and delivers some much needed escapism with the added bonus of being deliciously swoony. Alex and Henry fall hard but not fast which I appreciated.
The banter is delightful and Henry's razor sharp wit made me snortle time and time again. The Star Wars debates (#TeamAlex here; it's sad how wrong Henry is in his wrongness), the Harry Potter references and the correspondence whether it be text or email all brought a smile to my face and the excerpts that ended their emails? Three words: squishy marshmallow goo. Told exclusively from Alex's POV and, admittedly, there were times I wished for Henry's but the dialogue and correspondence went a long way, and in the end this is really Alex's journey of self discovery so it's fitting that he tell it.
They bring out the best in each other even when they're sniping at the other and when all that pent up frustration and desire morphs into something more it was electric.
I never expected to fall in love with all these characters like I did, not just Alex and Henry but June, Pez, Oscar, Ellen, Cash, Zahra, Shaan and most notably Nora. Nora is my hero. All of them are well crafted. All of them love each other and mostly importantly they have fun together. They all read age appropriate. If there were to be more stories in this universe, I would not be mad about that. At all.
The effort that McQuiston put into developing not only these characters but the romance was striking and the care she took in folding in geopolitical and domestic issues with aplomb combined with her seamless integration of diversity, got my attention. Sure, you have to suspend a little disbelief but the heart of what's being addressed is a troubling reality that she didn't shy away from addressing; she just put a more hopeful spin on it.
A spin, that I might add, I would get decked out in sparkly shoes, a tutu, ready for some epic heel clicking and am fully prepared to offer to do something unpleasant. Not illegal or amoral, mind, but unpleasant like voluntarily ingesting jicama 🤢🤢🤢 to make this alt-reality a reality. Just point me in the right direction. I'm ready for duty!
Last but certainly not least, Texas! YYYYYYAAAASSSSSSSS!!!!! BBQ ribs and elotes and lazy summer days and a sky so blue it'll take your breath away FTW! It always ramps up the appeal of a book when I can connect on such a visceral level like I did here. Coupled with the fact that I share the deep and abiding hope that Texas will be a battleground state in 2020 deepened my connection to it.
My quibbles are minor, namely that I think it could've been tighter. Some parts of the narrative I thought were long-winded. Time could've been demarcated better, though that could get cleaned up before it's officially released. If so, someone let me know and I'll bump my rating up to 4.75 stars.
So, if you're interested in a feel good and swoony escapism from the superbadawful 24/7 news, then give Red, White & Royal Blue a whirl.

Should I tell you that when we're apart, your body comes back to me in dreams? Eddie Smith is a chubby bear of a guy who lives in Daytona Beach and doesn't work much anymore but isn't retired.
Whit Hall has just retired as a tight end for an NFL expansion team and lives in San Antonio.
At 52, Eddie feels at home with himself and has learned how to roll with life. He's happy enough where he is and doesn't expect much to happen anytime soon.
At 35, Whit is ready for a life that put less of a strain on his body. He's banked plenty of dough but doesn't know what to do next.
. . .
About to sit down to his favorite take-out lasagna, Eddie gets a call from a friend who wants to hire him to help Whit figure out what's next in his life.
Eddie is a kinda, sorta life coach and might be able to help but seriously doubts it.
Reluctantly, he climbs aboard his friend's private jet and flies to San Antonio. Once he arrives, he ends up getting a whole lot more than he bargained for. Whit Hall is aggressive, he's angry, and he's under a lot of pressure.
It's a good thing Eddie (sorta) knows what he's doing!
. . .
Now that he's retired, Whit is looking for the next thing.
He's set, with plenty of bank. And he's doing what he can to deal with his parents, who are all up in his business. A lot.
Then, one Wednesday morning, he opens his front door. Before he knows it, Whit is chasing Eddie Smith out of his house, down the street, and even further.
It's a good thing Whit is (kinda) in shape for this new type of chase!
. . .
Neither man wants to go far...
But unexpected changes are chasing them both...
Wherever they end up going, and whatever ends up happening, this will be the beginning of something new and wonderful for them both.
. . .
This 45K word stand-alone contemporary male/male (MM) romance involves a chubby bear guy and a retired professional football player.
Included:
Some tension...
Hints of a coming-out story...
Medium-heat sexual descriptions...
Slightly nerdy details...
Some metaphysics...
And a HEA (that's a happily-ever-after)...
Not included:
Much angst...
Graphic sexual descriptions...
A cliff-hanger...
This story is the beginning of a series of contemporary romantic adventures. It ends with the start of one of those, so there are some loose plot points but no cliff-hanger.

Excerpt
He looked at me for a long moment. His violet eyes got more focused and I wondered what was going on in that head of his with its tufted hair on top and strange gray streaks.
I could feel my attraction for him suddenly come front and center. Like always happened, my knees got a little weak and my mouth got dry.
I held his gaze for as long as I could, wondering what was really going on. I knew what I wanted to happen. I wanted something... Like a kiss or more. I was pretty sure he'd been watching me as if he was attracted to me. His eyes always went to my belly, which was a tell-tale sign. Right then, however, his violet eyes were drilling into mine.
As always, I started doubting myself. Maybe I was mis-reading him entirely. Maybe he was just a friendly straight guy. As we looked at each other, all of those thoughts, and more, ran through my head.
Of course, I'd been hired by Bob to do a job and kissing Whit wasn't in the job description. And it wasn't ethical for me to kiss him. Not that I adhered to some sort of written code of ethics. I just didn't think it was respectful of Whit as a client, even though he really wasn't my client, but that was splitting hairs.
Nevertheless, I was tempted to put my left hand around his waist, but I was afraid how he would react. It was hard to be around a big scaredy-cat who might bite, and hard, at any moment.
So, with all that going through my mind, I stood perfectly still and examined the violet in his eyes, something that was remarkable to look at.
And then, suddenly, it was over.
He turned and looked at the river. After another few seconds, he leaned against one of the trees and crossed his arms. "Knowing this is here is enough to get me to stay."
"Oh?" I asked, wishing I had some water to drink.
He cleared his throat. "Yeah. I talked to my business manager about putting the house up for sale. He thinks I could make a profit on it, considering that I owned it."
I looked over at the river, not wanting to show him what I thought of that idea. But, somehow, he knew I had an opinion.
"What?"
"I guess I would never think of paying a premium on a house because a football player had lived there. Not one like that one. You've got a historical marker, after all."
He didn't say anything. I looked over at him. He was staring out at the river.
"I tried to get the city to let me remove that thing—"
"What!" I couldn't help myself.
He looked at me, frowning. Shrugging, he said, "Well, I don't give a shit about how old it is or who lived in it."
"Well, then, why the hell did you buy it?"
He leaned forward, aggressively. "I didn't buy it. My mother did."
I leaned back. "Oh."
He took a deep breath and then said, "Sorry. I promised Ossler I wouldn't do that again."
I knew what he meant, but I wanted to hear him say it. "Do what?"
"Get in your face." He did look contrite which, on him, was really cute.
"Thanks, Whit."
He looked down at me and smiled a little. "No sweat, Coach."
I grinned and shook my head.
He laughed and then patted his belly. "OK. Now, I'm hungry."
"Me too."

Chapter One
TANNER
Tanner McBane ran hard, expertly leaping over rocks and dodging trees as he pushed his body to maximum speed. His paws dug into the ground, kicking up the leaves and dirt of the forest floor behind him. He wasn’t on the hunt. He wasn’t trying to outrun an enemy. The demons chasing him were internal. Tanner was the McBane-pack-Alpha’s son, or at least he was until a week ago.
He had been raised to be the pack’s next leader. He had believed the pack would always be there for him; that they’d have his back. He’d certainly expected his mother to stand by him, but the good Alpha mate she was, she’d remained silent about everything as she stood at his father’s side. His mother’s docile nature annoyed him. Tanner was determined to find a mate who wasn’t afraid to speak up.
Pack bond, loyalty, and respect were solid as long as Tanner had remained exactly like them. As soon as he’d stood up to his father, told him he was gay, and he wanted a male to mate, he’d been disowned. The entire pack turned their backs on him. He was hurt, afraid, and pissed as hell. He was also very much alone with no one but himself to rely on. Tanner learned he liked that. He made his own rules, did his own thing, and he was happy. All he needed was someone to share his life with. Now that he was officially a lone wolf, he could search for the mate he truly wanted, not just settle for whomever his father chose.
Tanner’s need for a mate had been the catalyst for his disownment. He’d announced his sexuality so his father would stop choosing female shifters for him. His father had wanted to find him a mate the minute Tanner had turned eighteen, but Tanner managed to hold him off for a few years. Apparently, twenty-two years old was the limit his father tolerated. He’d been set up with a new female almost weekly until Tanner finally had enough and announced his homosexuality. He no longer needed to worry about his father’s erroneous choices.
A loud, resonating roar of pain ripped through the night. Tanner skidded to a halt, claws digging into the dirt, nose in the air, and ears pricked to the sky. Pinpointing where the scream originated from in the dense forest was tricky. The breeze carried only silence and the faintest scent of smoke and blood. Tanner followed the scent, picking his way silently over the undergrowth, careful not to disturb anything. Heavy breathing interrupted by a growl that rapidly escalated into a roar of frustration once again echoed through the night and led Tanner closer.
Tanner stopped and hunkered down when he came within sight of the scream’s owner. A man struggled on the ground with a large bear trap clamped around his calf. A few inches lower and the massive metal teeth might have severed the man’s foot at the ankle. The scent of blood was strong, but what was noticeably missing was the scent of fear. The man was angry. He was frustrated. But he wasn’t afraid, and that intrigued Tanner. He moved closer, keeping his attention locked on the stranger. His paw landed on a pile of dried leaves, and the man’s head swung to face him. Pain twisted the man’s handsome features, but his gaze was fierce as he stared at Tanner.
Tanner blinked but remained absolutely still. This man…he wasn’t human. He didn’t smell human, and he didn’t act human, but he was amazingly beautiful. Dark-blond hair hung limply over his tanned forehead and curled slightly at his ears. Dark-brown eyes zeroed in on Tanner and narrowed menacingly.
“Come here, pup,” the man growled through elongated fangs.
The man’s voice rumbled, coming from deep within his chest. Tanner took a step back. This man shouldn’t need his help. He was another shifter, and worse, he was a dragon shifter. From his disheveled, fatigued appearance and the fact the bear trap’s teeth were still snuggly buried in his leg, he was a substantially weakened dragon, but still dangerous. Knowing just because the dragon shifter had a steel trap on his leg didn’t mean he was helpless, Tanner backed away without breaking eye contact. The dragon slowly disappeared from view as Tanner moved deeper into the surrounding trees. Once out of sight, Tanner turned and ran.
“Come back and help me, or I will hunt you down and eat you for dinner, you pathetic dog,” the dragon yelled.
The insult was cut off by an agonized scream that filled the night. The shifter must have moved the wrong way and jarred the trap. Tanner wasn’t strong enough in human form to remove the trap, and as a wolf with paws, instead of fingers, he was useless. If the dragon was stronger, he would be able to free himself. Helping a dragon shifter regain his strength was a dangerous proposition. All paranormals knew dragons and wolves didn’t get along well. Tanner often wondered why and considered asking his father on several occasions, but he’d never followed through. Ethan McBane was not one who enjoyed being questioned.
Tanner located the herd of deer he’d been following and hunting over the past week. Dragons weren’t picky eaters, especially when in such a weakened state. Tanner wasn’t all that educated when it came to other shifters, but he vaguely remembered being told dragons preferred their prey be alive until they ate it. With that in mind, he took down a female deer that smelled sick, making sure the wound was debilitating, but not fatal, and dragged her back to the dragon.
Tanner tugged the heavy deer through the trees into the small clearing where the shifter lay. It had been more than an hour since he’d left to hunt for food for the man. The dragon appeared even more weakened by the time Tanner returned, no doubt from the continuous blood loss he was suffering. The man rolled his head toward Tanner and licked his lips as the scent of blood reached him. He pushed up onto his elbows, teeth elongating and eyes swirling gold, as Tanner pulled the still-struggling deer closer.
“You brought me dinner. Aren’t you a good pup,” the dragon shifter said.
He latched onto the deer’s leg with surprising force and pulled the animal closer to himself. Tanner growled, deep and low, baring his teeth as he backed away. Even in a weakened state, this dragon was powerful and dangerous. Plus, Tanner didn’t like being called pup. He was a young wolf shifter, twenty-two years old, but he was far from a puppy who needed protecting. The fact he was capable of sustaining himself and feeding an injured, bleeding dragon was proof enough.
The dragon wrapped a strong arm around the deer’s body while the other gripped the head. The animal struggled as the shifter sank his teeth into the neck, snapping it in a swift death blow, and then began to feast. Tanner backed away another few feet, well out of reach, and wondered if he should leave now or wait. He knew, once the dragon had fresh meat to strengthen him, he’d pry the metal trap from his leg on his own. Tanner wasn’t sure he wanted to be anywhere nearby when the man was free, especially after seeing him tear into the deer carcass as if it were paper. When most of the deer meat was gone, the dragon pulled away, blood dripping from his fangs and covering his chin and neck.
Tanner watched from his crouched position among the trees as the dragon closed his eyes, turned his face upward, and the blood soaked into his skin. When the shifter’s eyes found Tanner, they shined a brighter gold and not a drop of blood marred his perfect skin. The dragon pushed the remainder of the carcass away and turned his attention to his leg. Gripping the thick, saw-toothed edge of the trap, he forced it open as he let out a loud roar.
Tanner jumped to his feet, ready to run at a moment’s notice, as the man steadily pulled the sharp teeth from his skin and removed his leg from the iron. He threw the trap into the woods, and Tanner heard the thud as it landed dozens of feet away, testament to the dragon’s renewed power. Tanner’s gaze was glued to the dragon’s leg as the wounds knitted themselves back together. Tanner had an accelerated rate of healing as well, but the wounds the dragon had suffered would have taken Tanner days to heal, assuming he’d been able to free himself in the first place. Tanner lifted his gaze to the dragon’s face. His eyes had returned to their deep, rich brown, but his hair was damp with perspiration, the curl more pronounced, hanging wetly around his face. The man had incredible strength, but the effort of removing the trap had taken a toll.
Distant voices floated on the breeze and Tanner’s ears pricked. The dragon’s acute hearing picked them up as well. He rolled to his knees into a crouch, ready to pounce, his fangs once again elongating, preparing for a fight. Tanner flattened his ears to his head and tucked his tail, his lips curling up to reveal fangs of his own. He bent his knees, the muscles in his legs ready to launch him whichever direction was required. Three men burst through the foliage, rifles in hand.
