Giveaway + Blog Tour: Tracker Hacker (Codename: Winger, #1) by Jeff Adams

Jeff Adams is here today talking about his new release from Harmony Ink, Tracker Hacker. He's also offering an ecopy of the book, so be sure to enter below. Good luck!

I'm excited to be at Boy Meets Boy to talk about my latest release Tracker Hacker which is the first book in the Codename: Winger series. The book is the first adventure for Theo Reese, a high school student who is hockey player, computer genius and an agent for Tactical Operational Support. His computer skills got him the job with TOS, the agency his parents also work for. In Tracker Hacker, Theo is taken out of the safety zone of working behind the scenes at his keyboard as both a security specialist and software designer for some of the agencies gadgets. Here he has to go on his first field mission and it opens up a whole new world of danger for him.
One of the things that was interesting to work on while constructing the series was for a teenage hero with some serious consequences--far more than the average teenagers.
Theo has known since he joined TOS at age 11, which happened after he had hacked his parents’ phones, that he's often dealing in life-and-death situations. If a program he’s working on fails, an agent's life at risk. If Theo’s working with an agent to assist in the field he knows a wrong move could be very detrimental. Theo, however, has never been directly in danger before.
That all changes in Tracker Hacker.
Because of his understanding of the TOS systems that are hacked and because the bad guys base of operations happens to be underneath the rink where high school hockey competition is happening, Theo is the perfect person to send in to thwart the bad guys.
It was interesting as an author to write these consequences--truly life-and-death in some cases. Most of my writing to date, including my young adult novels, have romance at the center. Of course, there are consequences in romance novels because without some conflict the story could be rather boring. For Theo, much of the conflict he deals with is extreme and it's interesting to see how a younger person--someone who's just a couple years away from being a legal adult-- handles it.
He's smart enough to know what he needs to do in many of the scenarios but he's also aware that he's hampered by his inexperience. He'll berate himself when he's feeling scared or might be on the verge of tears because of the stress he's under. He doesn't want to disappoint the adults he works with and so he has these considerations along the way. He also sees the ramifications of his actions on the people around him, especially his boyfriend who he can't be completely honest with.
On the other hand he is keenly aware that what he does is important, which also gives him in a sense of pride and fulfillment. He even tries to use his connections to help people when he sees the needs. There's a subplot in Tracker Hacker about a classmate, Cullen, who knows Theo has expertise in computers. Even though Theo is busy, and he knows his help might make a bad situation worse, he still looks for a way to help Cullen.
This is part of what makes him a good agent--he's constantly trying to do good. Occasionally trying to do the right thing can have personal consequences. He doesn't always get what he wants.
Working out the wins and losses and how Theo copes with them was not one of the challenges in writing the book. It was also fun. Deciding where Theo would have his success and failure took some planning because he couldn't always win. If he always won, it wouldn’t be realistic. So, as much as it would be cool for Theo if he could always come out on top he needed to have some losses that were equal to his wins. How he overcomes the failures is key to his growth as a character.
Below is an excerpt from the book, showing a bit of Theo in the aftermath of botched kidnapping attempt. You’ll also find the blurb, buy links and a Rafflecopter that will give you the chance to win a free copy.
Excerpt

This scene takes place in the garage at Theo’s house right after he’s gotten home from his boyfriend’s. The day before Theo was nearly kidnapped and he’s dealing with the after effects—both physical and mental. Here he gets a call from his Dad, who is currently in the field, which is why he’s calling on the secure line.

As I was typing, my phone vibrated with a TOS call.
“Winger. Defender here.”
It was Dad!
“Hi. I…. Thanks for calling. I don’t know where you are but thanks.”
“Snowbird was able to reach me and told me what happened. Are you okay?”
“Um, yeah.”
The silence lingered. I knew I didn’t sell my condition well enough.
“No,” I finally admitted.
“Are you secure? Can we go video?”
“Sure,” I said and activated my video connection.
Dad’s face filled the screen. I couldn’t tell where he was, but it was good to see him.
“Winger, tell me.”
He sounded like he always did when he knew I was holding back. He’d used the voice on me when I was eight and terrified of going back on the ice after I broke my leg. He’d used it when I was thirteen and trying to tell him I was gay. And here it was again. Of all the people I could talk to about this, Dad was the best because he got me so completely. And he always set me on the right path.
“I keep reliving yesterday. Crashing my bike into the van. The gun aimed at me. Eddie in the crushed Jeep.” I sat on the hood of the car. “Sometimes it ends differently—with one of us dead.”
“I’m so sorry. That shouldn’t have happened to you. When you started working for TOS, we didn’t like the idea of you getting too involved, but I don’t think we envisioned anything like this.”
“I didn’t either,” I said quietly. “I tried to fight back, as best I could, Da—”
“I have no doubt.” He cut me off before I could call him Dad, which I desperately wanted to do right then. “If you need to walk away from this, I think we’d all understand.”
“No. I can’t. Too many years helping on too many projects. Besides I want to make sure no one else gets picked off like I did. Even with your training, getting abducted still can’t be easy.”
“You’re pretty amazing, Winger. I don’t know if I’d have felt the same way at your age. Take care of yourself. I’ll be home in a few days, but if you need anything, pick up the phone. Okay?”
“I will.”
“Good. I gotta go.”
Dad put his hand on the screen and a wave of nostalgia crashed over me. He’d done this when I was younger as a way to hug me via video chat. I placed my hand over his.
“I love you, Winger.”
“Love you too, Defender.”

Review: One Plus One (Maths, #2) by P.A. Friday

James Cape has been in love with his mother’s best friend Laurie since James was sixteen and Laurie an inaccessible twenty-six. When he’s turned down flat by the older man just after his nineteenth birthday, James’s best friend Al encourages him to forget Laurie and find someone else. And James tries, he really does. But can he cope with his feelings for Laurie, his best friend’s home-life problems, and the deteriorating health of his father, all at the same time? And will Laurie ever notice the young man who’s right in front of him?

Wow. This book has a lot of emotion in it that I wasn’t prepared for. Honestly, when I looked at the blurb I didn’t realize it was the second book in the series and that it deals with the past that becomes the present in Love Plus One. Being of an organized mind when it comes to reading, I am happy that I have read this series out of order because knowing the context of the first book I needed to know how Al becomes a frequent third for Laurie and James.

Told in the POV of James Cape, we meet him as a young teen who has a crush on his mother’s best friend Laurie. Laurie and Gillie, James’ mom, meet through classes and though they have an age difference it doesn’t hinder their friendship at all. Laurie becomes a constant at the Cape home being a friend to Gillie and James’ father Terry. Laurie is ten years older than James and is quite frankly the guy who helped James realize that he’s gay and James crushes hard on Laurie. The crush and his sexuality are kept quiet with only James’ best friend, since age 10, Al knowing the truth. Al teases James about his crush but being the ultimate best friend, commiserates with James on the unrequited love and faithfully treats Laurie with disdain when James is hurt.

When James officially becomes an adult and Laurie is finally single, James decides to lay his love on the line with the truth and lays a kiss on Laurie. Ugh. Laurie rejects James with the classics “this isn’t right” and “you’re young” and “our age difference” and “I’m the only gay guy you know so…” and “you need to experiment at uni” bullshit so James takes off to school and tries to sow his wild oats. That doesn’t work for James who consistently wants Laurie to want him back and makes a decision that if he does hook up he will only top, saving himself for Laurie.

Years pass at Uni with James having a few flings but no one compares to Laurie and seeing Laurie at home over the summers doesn’t help the infatuation. When James confesses his sexual frustration to Al – who is openly bisexual – James is offered a no strings sexual relationship with Al. At first this seemed odd to me with how close they are (Gillie refers to Al as her other son) but Al’s offer is so real to their friendship, I agreed right along with James to move forward.

I know this book is supposed to be about James and Laurie and how they will come to be an established couple in Love Plus One but let me tell you, James and Al together are hot. Goodness. There was more than one time I totally forgot about Laurie and the hopeless romantic in me wanting declarations falling from the mouths of these two best friends but it doesn’t happen. James and Al really are best friends who just happen to have passionate and off the charts hot sex together but keep everything else in the friend zone. They need and use one another without jealousy and honestly, it was quite beautiful to see.

So, when it comes times for more James pining for Laurie and Laurie keeping him at arm’s length, I was glad that James always had Al for whatever he needed. But that end? That admission from Laurie to Gillie about fantasizing about fucking her son and the swoon worthy moments that follow and then the intimacy? Yeah, this was a slow burn for sure between James and Laurie with a side of Al to be there for mutual, moral and sexual support.

Now, I am needy for Love Plus One and thank goodness it’s already out seeing how again, I read this series out of order. I hope we get to learn how Al becomes a third and how Laurie dealt with learning that Al and James had been fucking throughout the years Laurie was in love with James but trying to do the right thing.

Audiobook Review: Olive Juice by T.J. Klune

It begins with a message that David cannot ignore:

I want to see you.

He agrees, and on a cold winter’s night, David and Phillip will come together to sift through the wreckage of the memory of a life no longer lived.

David is burdened, carrying with him the heavy guilt of the past six years upon his shoulders.

Phillip offers redemption.

Listening Length: 5 hours and 11 minutes
Narrator: Derrick McClain

I agree with the majority of the people out there regarding all the pros and cons of this story and to definitely avoid any spoilers if possible.

Is it angsty? As all get out.

Will you cry? If you have a heart, yes.

What about the writing? Phenomenal.

Is there romance? Well… there’s definitely love. So much love and how that can tear someone apart and put them back together.

There’s no doubt Klune is talented, and now I realize that he can definitely do more than silly, funny, poignant. This was a kick in the proverbial balls, as it stabbed me repeatedly in the chest. It will definitely move you. It was raw, heartfelt, and I suppose in away, all about surviving to live another day. I honestly had no clue what this was about and that was both good and bad.

If you want to feel something, and feel it strongly and deeply, then give this a go. I didn’t enjoy it, but I appreciated it.

On a side note, my official rating won’t reflect how I feel about the audio. There’s something about Derrick McClain that was horribly reminiscent of Mark Westfield (the only narrator I’ve ever dnf’d) but to a lesser degree, and I gritted my teeth throughout the entire 5 plus hours of this audio. Obviously, this is all very subjective because many liked his narration, but what I heard was McClain ending pretty much every sentence with a forced grunt that drove me absolutely bonkers. I sampled the rest of his works and some had it to a varying degree, while others did not, ones that I’d probably enjoy. So, take this with a grain of salt - opinions vary greatly and what might work for some, won’t for others. It’s quite the testament that despite my negative feelings toward the audio, Klune’s genius still strongly shines through!

Thanks to the author/publisher for the audio in exchange for an honest review.

Audiobook Review: Out of the Shadows by K.C. Wells

Can he step out of the shadows and into love’s light?

Eight years ago, Christian Hernandez moved to Jamaica Plain in southern Boston, took refuge in his apartment, and cut himself off from the outside world. And that’s how he’d like it to stay.

Josh Wendell has heard his coworkers gossip about the occupant of apartment #1. No one sees the mystery man, and Josh loves a mystery. So when he is hired to refurbish the apartment’s kitchen and bathrooms, Josh is eager to discover the truth behind the rumors.

When he comes face-to-face with Christian, Josh understands why Christian hides from prying eyes. As the two men bond, Josh sees past his exterior to the man within, and he likes what he sees. But can Christian find the courage to emerge from the darkness of his lonely existence for the man who has claimed his heart?

Listening Length: 6 hours and 6 minutes
Narrator: Finn Sterling

I’m going to make this brief because there are plenty of great reviews out there already.

This for me embodied the no fuss, no muss, light on the angst romance that Dreamspun Desires excels at.

As per the blurb, Christian has been hiding from the world, afraid of ridicule and rejection. When fortuitous circumstance allows him the opportunity to get to know the handyman he’s been crushing on from afar, he never dreamed or hoped that he would ever get Josh to call his own. In turn, Josh sees beyond Christian’s physical flaws, as these two slowly get to know one another. With Josh’s easy going manner and quirky sense of humor, he draws Christian out of his self imposed isolation and discovers a person he wants in his life permanently.

This isn’t overly complicated, the relationship progression quite turmoil free. What it excels at is the slow build between these two that was simply sweet with good dashes of hurt comfort and sexy.

However, for me, the audio was a complete and utter fail. I don't know what Finn Sterling or the director or whoever produced this narration was thinking, but having him voice one of the main characters a few octaves higher than normal was absolutely baffling. So, everytime wonderful, gorgeous (inside and out) Josh spoke, he sounded like a woman (as much as a male narrator can), and it was so incongruous to what I was trying to picture in my poor brain, that it repeatedly threw me out of the story and ruined my overall enjoyment. As always, I know everything is subjective, so please sample this hard before buying. I can’t in good conscience recommend the audio and simply implore you to read the book instead.

Thank you to the author/publisher for the audio in exchange for an honest review.

Review: The Half Wolf by Jay Northcote

Mate, family, pack, home… can Quinn and Kellan have it all?

Quinn grew up feeling out of place in the small town he calls home. Yearning for something he can’t name, he’s always felt different but never known why.

Kellan is part of a nomadic shifter pack. When they set up camp in the woods near Quinn’s town, the humans are unwelcoming and suspicious of the newcomers. The moment Kellan catches sight—and scent—of Quinn, he knows Quinn is special. But for the first time in his life, Kellan can’t trust his instincts. Quinn is human, and Kellan is a wolf shifter, so how can they ever be mates?

Their bond is instant and exhilarating. It breaks Quinn’s heart to know their relationship can only be temporary. Love isn’t enough when pack law forbids shifters to mate with humans. Tension explodes between pack and humans, and when Quinn discovers a shocking truth about himself that changes everything, he fears he’ll have to choose between the only life he’s ever known and the man he loves.

Well, if you like Jay Northcote’s other works, you’ll love this. This has everything I’ve come to love about his work, sweet love story, solid characters, no unnecessary conflict and some very sexy times.

I read this book in one sitting and really enjoyed so much about it. Quinn is a human who lives in a world where shifters are known and there is a tentative peace amongst humans and shifters, but still a large amount of prejudices and fear are present. When a shifter pack moves close to Quinn's small town he meets the alpha’s son, Kellan and they have an instant connection. This is most definitely an instalove/true mates story, Kellan and Quinn fall in love hard and fast and stay devoted to each other throughout the course of the book.

While we’re experiencing these two forming their connection there is also a rogue shifter causing trouble for both the humans and the pack, as well as some strange changes in Quinn which he has to work through.

This story was nicely paced, between the interaction with the various mysteries and the development of Kellan and Quinn’s relationship, nothing felt overdone or lost my interest. Also these sexy times were delicious, all desperate-bitey-fucking in the rain. It was yum.

For those who are particular about their shifter stories, these shifters were fairly simple/standard, but that worked. We didn’t have to navigate new unknown lore, generally we knew what to expect from them. Although….. and this will make some people cry…. no knotting.

Considering this was Northcote's first shifter story it was very solid and super enjoyable. I look forward to more if this becomes a series.

How can you trust the man who tried to kill you?

Undercover cop Deacon Shepherd lost everything trying to maintain his cover - the man he loved and the future he craved. He walked away and never looked back because it was the only way to keep Rafael alive.

The last thing he needs is to be dragged back in that world, but an attempt on Rafael's life is enough to make him risk his heart again.

Rafael 'Rafe' Ramirez wakes up in the hospital, the victim of a hit and run. He’s horrified when the first face he sees is that of the man who betrayed him and left him for dead three years before. Witness protection had stripped Rafe of his family and friends, and now it seems his sacrifice to bring his Uncle to justice was for nothing.

Someone wants Rafe dead, and the only way he can stay alive is to go with the murdering drug dealer who broke his heart. But how can he ever trust Deacon, and how can Deacon protect Rafe without falling in love all over again?

Excerpt

Rafe opened his eyes, attempting to focus on the ceiling above him. He tried to lift his hand, but it felt as if there was lead in his veins, everything heavy and he couldn’t move. They’d told him he was getting better, so what the hell had happened? Had he relapsed? Why was he convinced that they’d taken him somewhere in an ambulance? That he’d leaned against a leather jacket that smelled of sunshine and soap? He blinked until the ceiling finally coalesced into the tiles he was familiar with.

Only there were no tiles.

Instead, the ceiling was a smooth white, and there were no strip lights, just a lampshade in a curious shade of blue. He blinked again. This didn’t make sense.

But when he opened his eyes, nothing had changed. The ceiling was still white, the lampshade blue, and the drapes at the window matched the shade. The drapes. There were drapes at the window. Confusion morphed into panic and he turned his head to the right to get a better feel for where he was and he saw…him.

Sprawled awkwardly in the chair, his head back, long limbs this way and that, clearly too big for the chair, was a specter from a past that wouldn’t leave him alone.

Deacon.

Intense fear sliced into Rafe.

They’d found him, had him strapped to a bed…was it Deacon who’d tracked him down and driven a car at him? He was paralyzed with a fear that made it hard to breathe, and he yanked at his hand, hoping to escape his restraints, only he wasn’t tied down, there was no rope. Instead his hand came up fast and he rolled sideways. Catching himself and coming off the bed, forgetting the fact that his leg was in a cast and toppling sideways, falling with a crash into a cabinet. He flailed but couldn’t stop himself falling, and he knew this was it – this time he was really going to die.

Deacon was up and at his side in an instant, and Rafe wanted to shut his eyes, wanted to block out seeing Deacon’s face again as he died, but he had to watch. He wanted Deacon to see his fear, and maybe that would stop him; maybe he could make Deacon stop and think.

“Shit, Rafe— Craig,” Deacon said, and reached for him, grasping his arms.

Terror became ice inside him, and Rafe stopped fighting; like a deer caught in headlights, he froze.

“What happened?” A second man stood in the doorway, someone Rafe didn’t know – tall, dark and dangerous-looking. Maybe this new arrival could stop Deacon?

“Help me,” Rafe forced out, looking past Deacon, scrambling to stand as the ice melted and he pushed himself to move.

“He woke up, saw me, and fell out of bed,” Deacon said, and the other man came right in. There were two of them, and there was little Rafe could do to get away. There and then, he screwed his eyes shut; nothing was going to save him now.

But there was no pain, no bullet. Instead, the two men helped him to stand, and then he felt the bed at the back of his thighs and they sat him down.

“Are you okay?” Deacon asked. Even with his eyes shut, Rafe recognized his voice. He would never forget the tone of it, or the coldness of the man who’d tried to kill him. He said nothing.

“Open your eyes,” the other man asked.

No.

“Craig? Rafe? My name is Mac. We’re here to help you.”

But fear was choking him and he couldn’t breathe. “No,” he managed between attempts to inhale enough oxygen not to pass out.

“He’s panicking. What the hell did you do, D?”

“Tried to fucking kill him three years ago, remember?”

Guest Review: Encore by Ruth Clampett

When shy programmer, Charlie, is dragged to a "Magic Mike” club in Hollywood by his co-workers, the last thing he expects is to be pulled onstage. But when he’s approached by Ramon, a dancer whose only focus is to bring him pleasure, something awakens in Charlie that can’t be denied.

Yet heated attraction only goes so far when one man dreams of true love and a life finally fulfilled, and the other is still grieving the one he lost, and the mistake that cost him everything.

Can a realist and a dreamer from two different worlds move forward and build a future together, or will their painful pasts keep them from fulfilling their destiny?

***This standalone is a M/M love story with graphic sex.***

Drama, drama, and more drama. What a mess!

It kind of feels like the author went on a crazy shopping spree for ideas for her book and then threw everything in there. She really threw anything and everything into it. And in the end it was just a mess. But maybe she was going for the soap opera vibe? I don't know, but it sure did read like one.

I never warmed to Charlie. He comes across like immature and a bit childish. Which is odd, because in a way he had to grow up overnight when he lost his parents and his sister ended up in a wheelchair due to a car accident. You'd think that after something like that, the struggles that he and his sister went through, he'd have grown a backbone. But he never did. He came across as this meek and innocent/insecure and almost child-like man. Needless to say; he annoyed me for most of the book.

Then you have Ramon who also is all over the place. Happy and bouncy, but also depressed and mellow. Kind, but also a cruel and inconsiderate. Add to it a past that he doesn't want to let go of and ones that comes back to haunt him....

I never really felt the connection between Charlie and Ramon, they never made sense to me as a couple. And even less how they started out and the insta-love/obsessive stalker vibe over it all. Nothing about the characters or the plot felt believable (or even likable) to me and I struggled my way through this book.

I won't go into the plot because most of it didn't make sense. In a way there wasn't really one, but there was still too much of it.... (Like I said - it didn't make any sense)

This was my first Clampett book, and sadly it will most likely be my last.

Tag Team Review: WILD by Adrienne Wilder

August Vallory had it all. A modeling career, a man he loved, and the extended family he’d acquired in the business. Then the world he knew was torn away when the plane he was on crashed en route to a photo shoot.

Lost in the Alaskan wilderness, August doesn’t stand a chance.

No sane man would choose to live in the Alaskan bush unless he had something to hide. And Keegan Brooks has secrets darker than night, more dangerous than wolves, more brutal than an Alaskan winter.
Every day was a fight for his life until he stumbled upon a downed plane with a lone survivor. Now it’s no longer just Keegan’s life teetering on the edge of survival.

It’s his heart.

Averaged

Lost in a Book - 4 Hearts

Holy Shitballs I need a Xanax and alcohol after reading that.

anxious.gif

While I thought it was really good, it’s not for the faint of heart and will keep you on the edge of your seat 99% of the time. If you’re squeamish about human and animal death/cruelty, you’ll want to avoid this book.

The stage is set with the gruesome details of a plane crash that August has survived. August is a male model flying on a private jet to Paris for his next shoot. The plane goes down in the extremely unforgiving, Alaskan Bush.

wilderness.jpg

Shortly after the plane crash, we are introduced to the wild looking Keegan. Keegan saves August from the wolves and bear that have already started feasting on the buffet the crash site offers.

Keegan has been living in the Alaskan wilderness for nearly a decade. He survives day to day in this uninhabitable land because the only alternative is certain death from those who wouldn’t hesitate to torture and kill him. He rescues a severely injured August and does everything to get him to safety.

Much of the book details their journey of survival. They have to fight, stay alert, and heal. Both MCs at multiple points, are knocking on death’s door because the bush is a cruel bastard. “The bush always took more out of a man than they could get back.” August has a lot to overcome due to his injuries from the plane crash and Keegan gives everything to ensure August lives with all the odds stacked against them. Wolves. Evil grizzly bears. Freezing temperatures. Life-threatening injuries. August has such a strong will to live and makes the best of his circumstances. He could have been a whiney celebrity and instead he had the mental strength to compensate for what he lacked in physical strength. Keegan represented life, survival, strength and eventually became home. He was in awe of August. In him, Keegan found a reason to do more than just survive.

I wasn’t fully on board with how their relationship began. BUT, I absolutely loved watching them fall in love. Their love was bittersweet and heartbreakingly beautiful because they both knew it would end. There was a pureness to it that made me feel everything along with them. Injuries aside, they got down! A lot. It was hot.

“If you can wrestle bears you can fuck me harder than that.”

One of my favorite characters was Daisy, the wolf.

Daisy1.jpg

She was the freakin’ bomb.com. She loved her humans hard and would live or die for her “pack.” She provided much needed tension relief when she was just a pup and my blood pressure/heart fully appreciated the break in intensity. The girl had a thing for Keegan’s underwear. Can’t. Blame. Her. All big and burly, Keegan. *Mmmm* Yes, please.

Let's talk about the epilogue.

anxious.gif

By the time I made it to the end, I felt like I’d been through a battle right along with the MCs. They literally fought tooth and nail to survive and all we get is a teeny tiny itty bitty little window into their life. Not. Cool. The book was extremely detailed UNTIL they got their HEA. Their lives were finally about more than surviving moment to moment and I WANT MORE MOMENTS that aren’t laced with potential death. *ends tantrum*

I still dug it. I'd definitely recommend this book. It was intense. It was an adventure. It was Wild.

Another fretful BR with LiaB!

Geezus. F. C. (Scuse my language)

*wipes proverbial sweating brow*

My gawd.

This is literally a nonstop ride that will get your heart pumping in all the best ways, leaving you at the edge of your seat, biting your nails, and hiding behind your hands.

As you know by the blurb, August has had the unfortunate luck of being in a plane crash. He survives with some grave injuries and is saved by a man who is as feral as they come. However, there's more to Keegan than meets the eye, and August can’t help but slowly fall for him.

Keegan is certainly not in the Alaskan wilderness for his health. He’s hiding from a terrible past, and though saving August becomes the best thing he’s ever done in his life, it also puts Keegan’s very existence in danger. However, he’s willing to do anything and sacrifice much to keep August alive at all costs.

Chock full on action, the suspense and harrowing situations these two get themselves into never ends. Mostly, it’s a no holds barred battle against nature (she’s quite the fickle bitch), but add in a relentless evil bad guy, and toss with plenty of emotional angst, and this book will fray your nerves while keeping you rapt with anticipation of how things will ultimately play out.

Suffice it to say you won't be bored. This is not for the weak of heart or the stomach. This is raw, this is brutal, and it’s a desperate adventure of love and redemption. Crazy smexy hot and intense to the max, this garners that extra half star because this is one story I definitely won’t soon forget!

Blurb

O’Malley Ramsey, math aficionado, grew up next door to Garrison Rook, All-American athlete. While O’Malley dreamed of numbers and kissing Garrison, Garrison’s tastes ran to home runs and hot chicks. During a family celebration the night before both young men were heading off for college, O’Malley joyously discovers that Garrison isn’t quite as straight as the star athlete had been pretending to be. Vows to return to each other quickly followed a few clumsy kisses in the old treehouse in the Rook’s backyard.

O’Malley came home to Garrison. Garrison never returned to O’Malley.

Four years later, the two ex-friends meet up at a summer camp where O’Malley is serving as a counselor. Garrison is desperate to make things right with his childhood friend, but can O’Malley, still nursing the pain and mistrust of Garrison’s betrayal, ever forgive or love Garrison again?

Author Bio

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a flock of assorted domestic fowl, and two Jersey steers.

When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in hand. She can also be found online on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and GoodReads.
