Review: Lost Boys Academy 1: Orientation by Aaron Ferrara

College life was supposed to be full of adventure, fun, and new experiences. However, the young men attending the Lost Boys Academy will have to forget everything they know when they are forced to rehabilitate their homosexuality.

Devilishly handsome troublemaker Jake Parker is never one to turn down a bet, but the stakes are high when he is challenged to seduce the one person that can get him kicked out of the academy.

The inseparable Kyle and Alex have been dating since sophomore year, but will their relationship be able to survive throughout the constant temptation of living in a dorm filled with other 'rehabilitating' guys their age?

Mason the wallflower - devout Catholic, never one to stir up the pot. But his religion comes into question numerously as he is surrounded by varying degrees of sin.

James, usually seen as the voice of reason, has a few demons of his own to conquer...

"We're like the fucking boy scouts of America, only gayer."
These young guys were sent to the Lost Boys Academy to learn how to forget their sinful ways. The camp will help them turn themselves around and live life the way it's supposed to be lived. Straight.

This short novella is very aptly titled. Not only for the characters, but for the readers, as well. There's a new student in the academy and Jimmy is going to show him the ropes. That is, as long as Jake doesn't give him *ahem* his own type of orientation.

We're introduced to all the players. We learn a bit about each of the characters, the role they play in the academy, and about how they ended up being there.  They all have their own story to tell and, even with the short amount of pages, I really got a feel for each of the boys.

Each story was different, but they all made me kind of ragey.  Not because of the guys, but because they ended up in this ridiculous academy. Although, I really don't think their teacher had negative intentions, however misguided he may be. I didn't get to read much about his character, but I have a feeling he's going to play a role in future books.

There were some characters that made more of an impression on me than others. I'm most certainly intrigued by Mason. I can't wait to see where his story goes. Every scene with Jake was just fun. He's bound to get himself into some trouble along the road. I just want to know who he's going to bring along with him.

And Jimmy? Oh, yes! No spoilers here but... I NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT JIMMY! His storyline is the one I'm most excited to read about.

I feel like Orientation got my feet wet. I met the guys and know just enough to get me wanting more.

This new series and me? I am 100% IN!

  1. This is so not my thing and with only 3.5*? It would have to be at least a 4.5 to change my mind. Sorry.
